Thank you Ismael! Yes the NAPSG Foundation SAR Working Groups have templates (ArcGIS Online and Desktop) for both missing person search (WiSAR) and disaster response (USAR). We are currently standing up our new hub site SARGIS , please take a look around there and then feel free to email us at pdoherty@publicsafetygis.org jdoke@publicsafetygis.org Regards, Paul

Community - we are helping agencies deploy a Survey123 Template for Search and Rescue, but one of our biggest challenges is symbolizing the data manually (via image URLs in the web map viewer/feature layer visualization) each time. There +24 icons in the feature layer and each time we have to apply symbology manually and then to the Survey123 Stakeholder Feature Layer View. We have tried the GeoJobe Admin Tools Pro, but have not been able to get this to work. Any ideas? Can this be handled via ArcGIS Pro, json? I am posting this for a good friend of the search and rescue community Diane Ambrose. Real-world Problem: Creating individual reports for field data. Technical Problem: Viewing Survey123 Reports for points created using both Survey123 and Collector for ArcGIS. The map that displays in the report is of the whole world. "I am a volunteer with the South Park Site Stewards https://www.southparksitestewards.org This is the first year for us to use Survey123 and Collector to collect field data. Our field data collection season will be done on October 31st and we have been really busy working on creating reports. We are able to create our reports from Survey123 using the Survey123 report tool. We can also get most of our Collector data into Survey123 and use the report tool for this data too - ESRI was a great help in getting our artifact photos to print. However, the map that displays in the report is of the whole world. We have tried lots of different syntax options - but it seems viewing Collector data via Survey123 may require some special syntax like viewing the photos did. We have a few other options if we need to - we can bring the data into ArcMap at season end and use data driven pages to print the reports, not put a map on the reports, bring the data into google drive sheets and use one of their add-ons etc, so we aren’t dead in the water but the Survey123 report process would be much easier." Any help would be much appreciated! Ismael Chivite

Real-world Problem: Users want to share the extent of the map/dashboard they are looking at, with other non-GIS staff. Audience: Search and Rescue, Firefighters, Law Enforcement - in particular, the US Federal Emergency Management Agency Urban Search and Rescue Teams Example: (Exercise Only) Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS Technical Problem: These users will 1) have no idea how to define an extent 2) the custom URL scheme outlined here is too complicated/difficult to memorize for GIS staff, nevermind first responders URL parameters—Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS | Documentation Solution: Create a share widget or similar capability as described here Share widget—Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS | Documentation. I want the end-user to be able to click a share button and it shares the extent of the map they are looking at, just like Web AppBuilder and the web map viewer. The ability to tell someone else - "Hey, look at this area over here!" is fundamental to geo-collaboration and right now there is no easy way to do that with Operations Dashboard. We would also like USNG / MGRS Overlay capability as well, this is a national standard for search and rescue in the United States and Canada. Here is the doc for Overlay Widget in Web AppBuilder Grid Overlay widget—Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS | Documentation

Problem: When you want to find a symbol in the ArcGIS Web Map Viewer, you need to know which symbol set to choose and then scroll to the symbol you need. This is highly inefficient and almost unusable when trying to create standard practice. Here are the steps I need to share to help someone... 1) Change Style 2) Choose an attribute to show 3) Types (Unique Symbols) 4) OPTIONS 5) Click on the type you want to change the symbol for 6) Choose "Public Safety" from the drop-down 7) Scroll down.... uh... about 4 mouse wheels, 😎 See the red shelter icon, choose that one for closed. 9) Repeat steps 5 - 8 several times If you really want to see how painful this is... search for the campground or trailhead symbol in the National Park Service "pack". Solution: In the web map viewer (or I guess whatever the rebuild will be) please just make symbols "Searchable" by tags at Step 6. Related Idea Also - this Idea is also really important. Custom symbol galleries for ArcGIS Online We want to be able to load standard public safety symbols into our ArcGIS Online account!!! https://napsg-web.s3.amazonaws.com/symbology/index.html#/

Philip Wilson Thank you for the heads up on this. Any estimate on the timeline for this functionality? Use Case We have some Urban Search and Rescue Teams testing a workflow where "targets" are dropped on the map / S123 feature layer and then they need to find them and update to a different waypoint category. This reduces the amount of data entry and creates a "workforce-like" workflow to make sure they hit all of their assigned tasks. But... then they cannot add a photo to those points which is problematic for when they want to document the damage.

Real-world Problem: In disaster response, interagency collaboration is critical. Being able to share data across political and jurisdictional boundaries is one of the greatest challenges to situational awareness. GIS Specialist and emergency managers, now more than ever, want to share and receive access to data from outside their organization. Technical Problem: Interorganizational Groups makes it possible to share between ArcGIS Online organizations by inviting individuals from one organization to another. This has been around for a while and is actually well documented now, although I still run into users all the time that do not know this capability exists. Sharing content privately between organizations Sharing and Collaboration across ArcGIS Online Organizations The big challenge, however, is ArcGIS Online username profiles need to be set to "Everyone" in order to invite someone into your Interorganizational Group, but profiles are set to Organization by default. This means I have to send a note with instructions to everyone involved in inter-organizational sharing, including people who have never used ArcGIS Online before. This presents a major barrier to entry for collaboration. Manage profile—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS Solution: Set profiles to be viewable by "Everyone" by default or at least allow an administrator to do this for the entire organization. This poses no genuine security risk to the organization and could be overridden by an administrator at any time. I understand there are more programmatic ways of collaboration coming (distributed collaboration, etc), but we need a fix for this in the shorter-term. Thank you for your time and consideration!

It looks like I am having a similar issue with iPhone6 and the new Collector App. Streaming lines works great with the app opened, but if I close my screen, the app has to reload and no lines were saved. Jeff Shaner is this a known issue or something I should report?

If you are interested in disaster response and search & rescue, we are doing some testing with QuickCapture at the moment for wide area search waypoints and tracks to complement the use of Survey123, Collector, etc with a truly simple and rapid data capture app. This will help SAR personnel transition from a handheld GPS before leaping into a fully loaded mapping app on their phone. More details: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=71f7501c36d34dfdaf8a81b424806033 Join our "SAR Sandbox": https://arcg.is/1G1n9 with your ArcGIS Online username. Then you *should* be able to access the projects we develop and view on a Dashboard. Thank you to Ismael Chivite and the QuickCapture Team for allowing us to test the app and provide feedback during development. We are looking forward to this release and into the future.
