Real-world Problem: In search and rescue (SAR), speed is critical. In wide area search operations however, some field data requires more precision than others. For example, when describing damage to a building it helps the local agency if the point is on a building footprint. We want to help SAR Teams accomplish this without slowing things down. Technical Solution: QuickCapture! Technical Problem: Right now, we are expecting the end-user to follow step #2 below, to drag the pin. If they forget to do this, the point may be in the middle of the street or whatever location they are standing in vs the actual impacted structure. They often forget this, so we'd like to prompt them. Proposed Technical Solution: Create a prompt that suggests to the end user, "Improve the accuracy of this point by "dragging the pin". This could be setup on individual buttons by the project author in the DATA tab (shown below). I am not sure what the new capability should be called, something like "Open map by default" and then maybe a small text box where the author can configure a short message? p.s. the same concepts above apply to Survey123, but it is a little easier to train them to drag the pin because we can add more text the layout of the app. @IsmaelChivite @KatieBreland @JaredDoke @JasonWarzinik @CollinGrove

I'll admit, I thought this was going to be an overwhelming positive response, but I think it was bad timing with the re-launch of GeoNet. I am getting a lot of positive feedback on this idea from our non-GIS stakeholders using mobile apps, but they aren't likely going to sign into GeoNet to kudos it : (

Real-world Problem: ArcGIS Online has grown into a large ecosystem of maps, apps, and data. When searching for an item, (public, private, or especially inter-organizational) it is now very difficult to simply use keywords or titles. Technical Problem: Keywords, Titles, Tags are not unique enough. This problem is especially challenging when trying to help someone find a web map in mobile apps like Explorer. Example: A simple search for "Fire Map" returns +10,000 results! Workaround: At NAPSG Foundation we started using item ids when referencing specific items vs sending links. Why? Inter-organization URLs often cause issues. For example, if NAPSG shares something into a private group with GISCorps members, if we send them a link that includes napsg.maps.arcgis.com - that often prompts them to sign-in to our organization. This is a known issue with ArcGIS Online that I think they are working on. Search for Item ID: 6dc469279760492d802c7ba6db45ff0e (it's the unique code at the end of a URL for an item) in ArcGIS Online and it will take you to our #FireMappers app. But what about when you are on the phone or radio trying to describe to a non-GIS person how to navigate to an item that they have access to but can't seem to find? Keywords won't work and item ids are too long. Solution: Shortcodes! We currently take the last 5 characters of the item id and add it to both the title and tags for our item. Item ID: 6dc469279760492d802c7ba6db45ff0e Short Code: 5ff0e Search for 5ff0e in ArcGIS Online and our #FireMappers map appears right at the top of the search and I can confirm with my "end-user" / customer that this is the right item because the shortcode is in the title. I can even read this over the phone or radio quickly as "the number five, f-foxtrot, f-foxtrot, the number 0, e-echo". We have used this in a few different projects and disaster response support and it works really well! QuickCapture now uses this concept for public projects and SARTopo (an ArcGIS Online-like app) uses shortcodes as well. Wouldn't it be awesome if each item had a shortcode generated by default??? Please upvote.

I'd go further - you should port over all of the Share Widget functionality - especially extent and query capability. Our use case is #FireMappers ArcGIS Web Application We want to be able to share directly to one fire.

This ended up being a file path issue either because the template folder I was using contained brackets (based on the template folder that Wildland Fire GIS use, on actual incidents you remove these, but I was just doing some testing) or the location where the project was stored. Once I opened the project up in another folder I was able to easily download the Offline map. So in short, if you get this vague error, trying changing the file path and/or remove any special characters (which I humbly admit should have been more obvious to a long time GISSer). Esri Support also agreed to log an enhancement request for a more helpful error code ENH-000132523

We were able to get this working in 2.5.2 by trying it on different PCs and Projects. I think it is something specific to where it was stored or the file path (current hypothesis, still testing with Esri Support)

Esri Support is looking into this now - we hope/think there is a fix coming in 2.6 but that needs to be validated before we can be sure.

Did you make ANY edits before seeing this error? I’ve made edits through a variety of web apps and Survey123, but have not made any edits in Pro (yet). Where did this data originate? The data was published from Survey123 (Waypoints) and directly in ArcGIS Online as hosted feature layers (for assignments and tracks). The map works offline in Explorer. Was the data versioned with the 'move to base' option? I have not touched anything with versioning. I don’t think my organization has access to Esri Support for ArcGIS Pro (we are a non profit), so I appreciate your help!

Real-world Problem: In order to be prepared for local disasters (no notice events) I am helping my search and rescue team develop offline workflows. We need to be able to use ArcGIS Pro 2.5.2 with our Maps and Apps in both on and offline environments. Technical Problem: Following these steps Take a map offline—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation I get a Create Offline Features Error, but with no explanation. I'm wondering if this issue is specific to Experience Builder OR is it specific to the Community Topographic basemap. I notice the hillshade will persist, but then the actual topo basemap will disappear if I leave it open in an app for an extended period of time. Then when I refresh, it comes back. .Kelly Gerrow - This has proved tricky to repro, but let us know if best to go to Esri Support.

Real-world Problem: After disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. search and rescue teams employ wide-area search techniques. In a wide-area search, it is important to be able to assign areas to teams to search every house and road. However, it is difficult to actually assess the search progress in a quantitative way. Technical Problem Part I: We would like to count the number of buildings that have been searched in an area by using looking at the number of buildings that do/do not have a waypoint on them (from Survey123). We have figured out how to count buildings so far using this very handy expression... var itemID = 'bb69f10baf334d4c935a0fb23d758f38' var prtl = Portal("https://www.arcgis.com") var buildings = FeatureSetByPortalItem(prtl, itemID, 0) var countBuildings = Count(Intersects(buildings,$feature)) return countBuildings but we still need to count the number of waypoints that fall on top of a building... Part II: We would like to count the number of streets that have been searched in an area by the number of roads that do/do not have any tracks on them (from QuickCapture). Before we go any further we wanted to check with the GeoNet Community to see if someone has already done something similar. We created a Hub site for our Search and Rescue GIS Community last year before we had Hub Premium. SARGIS Now that we have Hub Premium we would like to create community users and allow people to subscribe to the initiative. But when we create a "Follow Initiative" our SARGIS initiative does not show up as an option. Only new initiatives show up. Do we have to rebuild our entire Hub initiative or is there a process to convert this? Andrew Turner #Hub
