When Robert Phillips joined Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services as a Fire Data Analyst, he set to work solving a challenge that had stumped previous efforts—digitizing fire hydrant inspections to increase efficiency and free up resources. Where past attempts failed, Robert brought years of Python and ArcGIS skills he had matured by asking questions and posting code in Esri Community. In this feature, Robert shares how the skills he’s developed within the Community have expanded, enabling him to automate fire department workflows and achieve real-time monitoring that helps Cobb County Fire maintain its elite ISO Class 1 rating. A recently appointed Esri Community MVP, Robert now spends time re-investing the type of knowledge that supported his growth by answering others’ questions.
