Yes, you can use AppStudio with your ArcGIS Enterprise, it is possible to have Esri customer service move your "AppStudio Developer Edition" license to your ArcGIS Enterprise account. Although it is possible to move the license to your Enterprise Account, in almost every situation I would suggest NOT doing this. some things to consider... With AppStudio you can deliver apps to the end user by creating a stand-alone install of the app or through the AppStudio Player application. Stand-alone installs To create a stand-alone install of the app requires that the AppStudio Cloud Make build service can get access to the app project and that your app AppStudio Developer License resides in either your ArcGIS Developer Subscription account or in an ArcGIS Online account. If you move the license to your ArcGIS Enterprise account you will lose access to the AppStudio Cloud Make service to create the stand-alone app installs. AppStudio Player You can use AppStudio Player to distribute apps to other ArcGIS named users in your organization. The end-user simply logs into the free AppStudio Player app and downloads the app (or app project) that you have shared with them in the ArcGIS Enterprise Portal. Here are a couple of videos that explain distributing apps with AppStudio Player Building and Distributing Apps: AppStudio 2020 Spring Workshop Day 2 Part 3 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-0FciKVU0Y&list=PLGZUzt4E4O2J1gc2bFUEeM405Nm1nLT2q&index=3 In summary, I would suggest keeping your AppStudio Developer License in your Developer Subscription account so that you have the option to use the Cloud Make make service to build your apps. The apps you create will still have access to the data and maps of your ArcGIS Enterprise, they are just being developed in the Developer Subscription account. If you would like to share app with members of your org using AppStudio player you can simply transfer/copy the app from your developer subscription to your ArcGIS Enterprise account using AppStudio Desktop. (in AppStudio Desktop "Duplicate" your app project and then login with your Enterprise account and save the new copy). I hope this helps answer your questions. Please let me know if you have any further questions. -Chris

You can remove the "licensed for developer us only" watermark by setting a "Lite" level license for you app. To do this simply follow these steps. In Login to AppStudio desktop and upload your app your ArcGIS organization Next, in AppStudio Desktop browse to Settings > Licensing for your app, and click the Set Lite license button. Sign in to ArcGIS Online if you haven't already, and the License key field will automatically be populated. Then, click the Apply button in Settings to save the changes. After you hit apply upload your app again to your ArcGIS organization. you can find more information about licensing here: License your app—AppStudio for ArcGIS | Documentation If you have other AppStudio questions I suggest posting them on the AppStudio GeoNet page: https://community.esri.com/groups/appstudio

Hello, We have just posted a video discussing the different licensing considerations when building and distributing apps with AppStudio. The video does not give exact prices (which can vary in different parts of the world), but it does talk about what is available for free, part of your ArcGIS subscription, or a separate cost. Dave, Yes it is required to have a $99 Apple Developer membership to create a build of your app. (or a $299 Enterprise developer membership depending on how you are going to distribute your app) You cannot "just email the installation file or make it available on our website", unfortunately, iOS app distribution does not work that way. If you the audience for the app is a company or organization you can use an Enterprise distribution and self-host that or use a 3rd party tool to distribute the app. If your intended audience is the public then you will most likely have to go through the Apple App Store. Here are some links with some good information on the subject: How to share iOS App without publishing on Apple App Store? - Blog | Knowband app store - Private iOS app - Stack Overflow Who is the end user of the app? In some scenarios the AppStudio Player is a good option of distributing apps as well. Introduction to AppStudio Player—AppStudio for ArcGIS | Documentation

ArcPad 10.2.6 is available to download from My Esri. The key areas of improvement in ArcPad 10.2.6 are the behavior of subtype defaults, the ability to filter NMEA sentences and the ability to run the ArcPad Data Manager tools in debug mode. (details below) NOTE: The retirement date for ArcPad 10.2.6 has been extended to December 31st 2021. ArcPad will continue to be supported through December 31, 2021, at which time the product will be retired and support will end. See the ArcPad Product Life Cycle document for more information. ArcPad When you change a subtype value in ArcPad, all unedited subtype defined defaults in other fields, are automatically changed to match the defaults of the subtype. (NIM080188) New extension NMEAFilter has been added that allows the user to filter specific NMEA sentences from being used by ArcPad. Filtered messages are greyed out in the GPS/Rangefinder debug window and not used when determining a location. (BUG-000114664) Note: To filter messages, apply a value to the NMEAFILTERS user property. For example, to use only GPS NMEA messages, in the ArcPad script window enter and execute the following: Application.userProperties("NMEAFILTERS") = "$GP;!$". One or more filters can be supplied, separated by a semicolon. Example values include: $—Accept all NMEA messages. !$—Reject all NMEA messages. $GP;!$—Accept only GPS messages, reject all other messages. $GN;!$—Accept only GNSS messages, reject all other messages. $GL;!$—Accept only GLONASS messages, reject all other messages. $BD;!$—Accept only Beidou messages, reject all other messages. $GN;$GL;!$—Accept both GNSS and GLONASS messages, reject all other messages. !$GP;$—Reject all GPS messages, accept all other messages. !$BD;$—Reject all Beidou messages, accept all other messages. __________________________________________________________ To see filtered messages (displayed in grey), select GPS/Rangefinder Debug from the GPS Active menu on the Main toolbar. ArcPad Data Manager Debug version of ArcPadToolsGen2.dll is now included in the installation. This may assist troubleshooting check-in or check out issues by providing more error diagnostics. To use, replace the file C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.2\DesktopTools10.0\ArcPadToolsGen2.dll file with the one located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.2\Extras folder. Perform your check out or check-in as intended. If the Data Manager crashes, save the error information supplied, and send to Esri Technical Support for more assistance. TLS 1.1 no longer supported Syncing of feature services and the upload and download of ArcPad Packages hosted in ArcGIS Online will continue to be available to users on devices that support TLS 1.2. Windows (7, 8.1, 10) can be updated to support TLS 1.2 and Windows Embedded HandHeld 7.0 devices can be patched by the manufacturer. Devices that only support TLS 1.1 can not use secured feature services and ArcPad Packages hosted in ArcGIS Online.

Hi Al, I will do my best to answer your questions. 1. What is the cost for the GIS, and app software? is this a yearly subscription? To build an app that will be in the app stores (Apple, Google) you will need a license for "AppStudio Developer Edition", which you can get by subscribing to an ArcGIS Developer Subscription. See this link https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/appstudio-for-arcgis/buy . (click on Developer Edition at the top. 2. Can we both use the same seat? Or if it is online can we both use the same log in? Once we have the app I only see us using this once a month to update. The license is for s single user. 3. If we build the app must we maintain a software licence in order from the app to remain active, or if we end our subscription does the app stop working? No, the app does not stop working if you developer subscription ends. But our users tend to keep the developer subscription as inevitably they will want updates to the app. 4. We are looking to cover our costs, but the clubs are looking to sell advertising on the app, like a restaurant would pay to have there location on the map. Can this be done? does this add to the cost of the software? Yes this can be done but it will take writing some custom code to accomplish this, also if someone will be making money from ads in the app you will need to buy a Commercial Qt software license https://www.qt.io/download . (this is third party software that we use in AppStudio. I need to get a cost for this to our local clubs next week but have no idea what it will cost nor how much time it will take. any input from you or your team on avg. hours to do something like this would be very helpfull. It is difficult to estimate the avg time to do something like this, the biggest factor is probably the technical skill level of the person doing the work. Because we are talking about some custom code...For professional developer it would take weeks to do this. If you are a GIS professional with some scripting or maybe web development skills it would many weeks (over a month). If you primary purpose is to povide offline maps to members of the ATV club you might want to consider other options. Example: You could use our desktop software ArcGIS Pro to create an offline Mobile Map Package and then share that with others so they can download it and view it using the Explorer for ArcGIS app published by Esri. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/sharing/overview/mobile-map-package.htm https://apps.apple.com/us/app/explorer-for-arcgis/id860708788 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esri.explorer&hl=en_US

Hello, With the recent release of AppStudio 4.0 we made some changes to the licensing levels. For the base level of AppStudio for ArcGIS (previously AppStudio Basic) these changes affected the tools you have access to use (added AppStudio Desktop) and how you can distribute your apps. Apps created with the base AppStudio for ArcGIS license can be shared with others in your ArcGIS organization using the AppStudio Player app. An AppStudio Developer Edition License (previously AppStudio Standard) is required If you would like to create a stand-alone build of your app to publish to an App Store. See this blog post for more details about the licensing changes: https://community.esri.com/groups/appstudio/blog/2019/06/25/licensing-changes-coming-in-appstudio-for-arcgis-40 See the table at the bottom of this page for a comparison between "AppStudio for ArcGIS" and "AppStudio for ArcGIS Developer Edition" AppStudio for ArcGIS Pricing | Buy Now Let me know if you have any questions. -Chris

The AppStudio team is hard at work on the next version of AppStudio for ArcGIS (version 4.0). As always there will be technical updates to the software, but with this new version there will also come some significant changes to how we license the software. More details about the new technical features and capabilities coming with AppStudio 4.0 are detailed in this blog post, but here is an overview of the highlights. New 3D Scene Viewer template AppStudio extension for Visual Studio Code (open VS Code from AppStudio, write QML) Support for opening a permission dialog while app is running Preview file before sharing Change language while app is running Updates to JavaScript environment (ECMAScript 7) If you want access to the AppStudio 4.0 beta visit the AppStudio for ArcGIS Early Adopter Community. Licensing Changes AppStudio is a powerful suite of tools that provides our users an easy to use, yet extremely robust cross-platform app development experience. We want more ArcGIS users to experience the full power of AppStudio, and have access to more templates, layouts, samples, and tools. To give access to more of what AppStudio has to offer, we have decided to make some changes to the license levels. Name Change First things first, we are changing the name of the licensing levels Original Name New Name AppStudio for ArcGIS Basic AppStudio for ArcGIS AppStudio for ArcGIS Standard AppStudio for ArcGIS Developer Edition Just as before, every ArcGIS organization member with a user type of Creator or GIS Professional will have access to AppStudio for ArcGIS (we’ve dropped “Basic” from the name). If you have an AppStudio for ArcGIS Standard license it will be renamed to AppStudio for ArcGIS Developer Edition. We are also working on making an easier experience to purchase and provision an AppStudio Developer Edition license to the ArcGIS organization of your choice. What comes with an AppStudio for ArcGIS license? Previously, the AppStudio Basic license lets you create a native app from one of three templates on appstudio.arcgis.com. This online template experience offered minimal configuration options and required that maps and data be public. At version 4.0 all AppStudio for ArcGIS licenses now includes the AppStudio Desktop application. AppStudio Desktop lets you configure an app from a template, build an app from a layout, or add functionality to an app using code from one of our 70+ live samples. Speaking of code... also included is the ability to write custom code for your app using Qt Creator (installed with desktop) or Microsoft Visual Studio Code (using a new AppStudio extension). After you have created an app using AppStudio Desktop you can upload it to your ArcGIS organization and share it with others in your org using AppStudio Player. An AppStudio app stored in ArcGIS Online is just another item in your organization. And just as you share data, maps, and web apps with others, you can share your AppStudio apps and then run the app using AppStudio Player (more about AppStudio Player below). Note: The app building experience on appstudio.arcgis.com will be retired on August 15th, 2019, see the Q&A below for more information. What comes with an AppStudio for ArcGIS Developer Edition license? The Developer Edition license adds a few key components for more advanced developers or those who want to distribute their apps as a standalone installed app via a public app store or an enterprise deployment. The Developer Edition includes a set of Enterprise templates such as Survey123, AuGeo, and AppStudio Player. Access to the AppStudio cloud Make service is also included with the Developer Edition so you can generate app installation files for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. This table highlights the capabilities of AppStudio editions at version 4.0: AppStudio for ArcGIS AppStudio Developer Edition Download and use AppStudio Desktop X X Convert your ArcGIS web maps into mobile apps X X Build apps with no coding, using configurable app templates X X Extend apps built using the configurable app templates X X Create custom apps using your developer skills X X Share apps within your ArcGIS organization using AppStudio Player X X Use Cloud Make to build install executables (Android, iOS, Windows, OS X Linux) X Publish to the Apple and Google Play app stores X Use Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems to share in an Enterprise X Access to AppStudio enterprise app templates (Survey123, QuickCapture, AuGeo, more...) X In the future - Create add-ins for Survey123 for ArcGIS X We are excited about these new changes to AppStudio and the opportunity to share more of the great tools in AppStudio with a larger audience. We understand that these changes may be disruptive for some of our existing users who have been using the web experience to build apps. Please reach out to us (appstudiofeedback@esri.com) so we can better help you through this license transition. Below is a Q&A to help with some of the common questions we think people might have. If you have other questions, please leave them in the comments section below. Thank You – The AppStudio team Q & A What will happen to the app building experience on appstudio.arcgis.com website? The template based app building tools on appstudio.arcgis.com will be shutdown August 15th, 2019 with the release of AppStudio 4.0. Going forward you will use the tools in AppStudio Desktop to configure an app based on one of the standard templates (Map Viewer, Map Tour, Quick Report). AppStudio Desktop offers many more settings for these templates, so you have more control configuring the look and feel of your app... without writing any code. Some of the settings you can configure in AppStudio desktop include the app color, text color, custom fonts, feedback email, offline map package, and more. If you have already created apps using the website tools those apps will not go away, you can download and further customize those apps using AppStudio Desktop. What AppStudio license level has access to generate a build? (access to cloud Make) A significant change in the licensing is that to generate a standalone install build (suitable for submitting to the app stores) for an app will require an AppStudio Developer Edition license. Those users who have created apps from the website experience using an AppStudio Basic license will no longer have access to generate a standalone build of their app after August 15th, 2019. How do I share my app with others using AppStudio Player for ArcGIS? AppStudio for ArcGIS Player is an amazing tool that can transform how you distribute apps in your organization. Using AppStudio Player is like having a private app store, which you control. You can determine who has access to what apps in your organization and when they get updated. Here how it works: 1. Create an app using AppStudio Desktop 2. Using AppStudio Desktop upload your app to ArcGIS Online or Enterprise 3. In your portal set the sharing property to share your app with others in your ArcGIS organization. Share it with a group of users, the entire organization, or even the public. 4. The end user of the app downloads AppStudio Player onto their device from the app stores or from the AppStudio website. 5. They login using their username/password for their ArcGIS organization. 6. Next, they download the shared app to the device 7. Now they can run the app as a native application right within AppStudio Player

The goal of AppStudio is to bring native app creation tools to all ArcGIS users. As you know AppStudio provides productivity tools for building, testing, and distributing apps that can be used by both developer and non-developers...and everyone in-between. If you peel back the technical layers of the AppStudio stack you will find various components such as the Qt SDK, Android SDK, Apple Xcode and ArcGIS Runtime that enable things like cross platform development and geospatial mapping tools. These components are development projects in themselves, each with release timelines and feature updates. This blog post is to update you on some the current state of AppStudio versions and upcoming important dates and dependencies for different platforms. AppStudio for ArcGIS 2.1 Deprecation and ArcGIS Runtime 10.2.6 Retirement The ArcGIS Runtime is the core mapping component that gives AppStudio access to various mapping and geospatial capabilities. The initial 1.0 release of AppStudio was built on earlier 10.2.x version of the ArcGIS Runtime, and at AppStudio 2.0 we included support for both the 10.2.x Runtime as well as introduced the new 100.x Runtime. In April of 2018 AppStudio 3.0 was released and the 10.2.x Runtime was removed completely form the AppStudio product. The 10.2.6 ver of ArcGIS Runtime for Qt that was included in AppStudio 2.1 is now in Mature Support. This means that it will no longer receive updates, patches, or platform testing and certification. AppStudio for ArcGIS 2.1 has been in Mature Support since April 2018 and will be retired starting April 1 2019. Because of the support status of ArcGIS Runtime 10.2.x and issues with submitting to app stores (see the next sections), AppStudio 2.1 is being deprecated and it is recommended that users move any current development projects to a newer version of AppStudio. The apps you have already created and/or published to the app stores will continue to work, but your ability to support and enhance these apps will be limited (see next section about Android and iOS support). The AppStudio 2.1 Desktop download has already been removed from our website, if you require access to download AppStudio Desktop 2.1 for app maintenance purpose please reach out to the AppStudio team directly at appstudio@esri.com. Android API Level 26 Requirement for the Google Play Store At the beginning of November 2018 any Android app submitted to the Google Play Store (new app or update to existing app) needs to be built to target the Android API Level 26 (Android 8.0) or higher. The AppStudio Cloud Make servers have been upgraded to support API Level 26 Android builds if you are using AppStudio Desktop 3.0 or higher. If you have apps built with AppStudio 2.1 earlier you will not be able to submit an apps (new or update) to the Google Play Store. Xcode 9 / iOS 11 SDK Requirement for the Apple App Store The Apple App Store currently requires that all new apps and updates are built with Xcode 9 (iOS 11 SDK). AppStudio 2.1 and the ArcGIS Runtime 10.2.6 are use an older verion of Xcdoe and thus are not capable of creating iOS binaries (IPA files) that meet the App Store requirement. April 2019 Xcode 10.1 / iOS 12 SKD Requirement for the Apple App Store When you request an iOS build using the AppStudio Cloud Make service your AppStudio app is compiled using Apple’s Xcode tools to create a binary (ipa) file suitable for distribution. In March 2019 Apple Inc will require that all apps (new and updates) submitted to the Apple App Store are compiled using a XCode 10.1. This timing of the requirement is problematic because support for XCode 10 in the Qt SDK is a recent addition and the ArcGIS Runtime for Qt is still working on support for this version of the Qt SDK. What does this mean for the AppStudio Developers? Starting in March of 2019 you will not be able to submit AppStudio app to the Apple App Store using any version of AppStudio, including the released 3.2 version of AppStudio. We will release a beta version of AppStudio 3.3 in the beginning of March that supports Xcode 10 so you can develop and test your apps in preparation of the final release. In April we will release AppStudio 3.3 with support for Xcode 10.1 and providing a way for you to submit apps to the Apple App Store on a released version of AppStudio. We are providing this information so you can plan accordingly with any iOS releases that may be scheduled for March or April 2019. If you have questions or concerns about the timeline for iOS / Xcode 10.1 support, please contact the AppStudio Team appstudio@esri.com. No, AppStudio Standard is not included with an ArcGIS Personal Use License. Correct, you will need to purchase an ArcGIS Developer Subscription of Builder level or higher to get an AppStudio Standard License.

Paul, I have seen other instances where the ipa file grows much bigger than the original app project and other platform binaries. I'm not sure, but I suspect the issue is probably with the "launchimage" in your project. The reason is because Apple requires that a separate “launchimage” gets created for all the different Apple iphone and pad resolutions and it is stored as lossless PNG files in the ipa, and AppStudio cloudmake does this for you. When you have a complex image with lots of details and different colors this can result huge increase in app size. I have seen where a very colorful and detailed 1mb jpeg was used as a "luanchimage" and when converted to PNGs for Apple it added about 90mb to the size of they ipa. The Solution: The solution is to use a very simple graphic with only a few colors and maybe some simple text as your launch image, in many cases this will greatly reduce the size of the ipa file. The launch image is only shown for a second or two as the app first starts up so it has little impact on the aesthetics of the app. The ipa file is actually just a zipped up folder of files, you can unzip it with something like 7zip and see if the launchimages are taking up a lot of space.
