In the Identify Window of ArcMap (that shows the results of the Identify Tool) you can click on the column headings and the values will be sorted (see image below). However, in ArcGIS Pro when using the Explore Option to query the map, the pop up that shows the results doesn't give the option to sort the columns. Can you add the functionality to sort the pop-up window columns in ArcGIS Pro?

Hi @RyanUthoff. I appreciate this is asking you to cast your mind back quite a long time, but how were checking the number of connections to the datastore - was it using the Describedatastore tool? Thanks

In a highly available ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, what is the best practice for setting up the ArcGIS counters in ArcGIS Monitor: 1 ArcGIS Server counter for each ArcGIS Server in the deployment; or 1 ArcGIS Server counter pointing at the load balancing URL/web adaptor; or 1 ArcGIS Server counter for each ArcGIS Server in the deployment and 1 ArcGIS Server counter pointing the load balancing URL/web adaptor I suspect it is "1 ArcGIS Server counter for each ArcGIS Server in the deployment", but in this scenario if there was an issue at the load balancer/web adaptor tier, Monitor (or at least the configured ArcGIS Server counters) would not pick this up. Setting up counters for the servers and the load balancer/web adaptor seems like it would be collecting a lot of redundant information. Keen to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

ArcGIS Monitor is exhibiting some odd behaviour I don't understand. MongoDB runs on the server D drive which was recently running out of space. We added 10GB , expecting the available space to be steadily consumed at a rate of around 1GB per month, therefore giving us approx 10 month before having to consider expanding the drive again. However, only a few weeks later the disk space is nearly all consumed: Periodically, 1GB of space on the D drive will be quickly (in ~1 minute) consumed and I can't understand why. These events occur approx every 6-10 days. The only directory on the D drive larger than 1GB is the ArcGIS Monitor db directory, which points to the issue being related to ArcGIS Monitor. You can see in the graphs above and below that, in addition to the events where a GB of disk space is consumed, there are other occurrences where a sizable amount of disk space is quickly consumed, only to be freed up again within a minute or so. Does anyone know what is happening here? Are the events where the disk space is consumed and then freed up part of an expected process? Are the events where disk space is being consumed and *not* freed up separate to the events where the space is subsequently freed up, or is it the same process but the clean up part of the process (where the disk space is freed up) is failing? The server has been rebooted whilst we've been experiencing these issues but it did not correct the issue.

Looks like the Amazon logs being too large to read is *not* the issue. Appears as though the ArcGIS Monitor network traffic is not being sent through the corporate web proxy so it's not getting to its destination. I'm investigating how to fix this.

The troubleshooting pages refer to an ETIMEDOUT error, but this appears to be related to the ArcGIS Server counter: If the ArcGIS Server test results in an ETIMEDOUT error, the ArcGIS Server log file is too large to read before the request times out. Back up and delete the ArcGIS Server logs using ArcGIS Server Manager to resolve the issue. The log level and log content for your ArcGIS Server should be checked for errors to determine why the log file was so large. Does anyone know if this is also true for the Amazon counter? IS this caused by the Amazon logs being too large to read before the request times out?

I'm trying to configure the Amazon counter in ArcGIS Monitor (v10.8) at a client site. They have set up an AWS user account according to the instructions on the Esri website, and I've followed the same instructions to add the Amazon counter, but when I test it I get the following error: "NetworkingError: connect ETIMEDOUT ". Has anyone come across this before?

The triggering of the "Error getting service" error via the scenario described in my previous post has been recognised as a bug - BUG-000141232 : ArcGIS Server WARNING Log: Error getting service for hosted feature layers. This issue was recreated in ArcGIS Pro 2.8.1 with ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 and 10.8 but could not be recreated with ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.

From what I can tell, a scenario where this can happen is when ArcGIS Pro consumes a hosted feature layer, e.g. https://portal.domain.local/server/rest/services/Hosted/layer1/FeatureServer. It thinks there's an associated map service (there isn't - hosted feature layers don't have corresponding map services) and makes a request to a map service that doesn't exist, i.e. https://portal.domain.local/server/rest/services/Hosted/layer1/MapServer, which triggers the error. I'm trying to get confirmation on this. I'll post a follow up with what I find out.

The following is from the ArcGIS Monitor FAQ page: Raw data in ArcGIS Monitor is continually aggregated and truncated when more than 14 days old. Only aggregate data (day, month, year) is stored after that. The size of the database will grow rapidly in the first 14 days and then stabilize. Once you have 14 days of data, a growth rate of 1 GB per month is typical. So, the bulk of the data in a Monitor database is the raw data from the previous 14 days, then it is aggregated and retained furthermore. However, are there any tools/reports in Monitor that actually let you query the data once it more than a few months old? The oldest pre-set time frame for producing reports in Monitor is "Last Month" as far as I can tell. There is a "Custom Time" option on some reports, but when I try this it doesn't work for any time frame older than a few months in the past. If it isn't possible to query data older than a certain age, why is it being kept?

I get the impression that most organisations taking advantage of shared instances run an initial audit of their map services to see whether or not they meet the recommendations for using shared instances, and if they do, they set them and forget them, and don't go back to check whether shared instances are still using the optimal configuration (a map service could, for example, gain in popularity and no longer be considered low use). Is anyone aware of any tools/scripts/notebooks that can return the usage stats of map services configured to use shared instances, and make recommendations on the instance type (shared vs dedicated) based on the results? I guess this wouldn't be too difficult to create, I'm just don't want to try and reinvent the wheel if there's something already out there. The benefits of identifying shared instance map services that have become medium to high use are: the map service in question can be allocated more instances to optimise its performance it will free up capacity within the shared instance pool, benefiting the remaining map services set to use shared instances

I'd like to find out if there are plans to enhance ArcSOC Optimizer or whether it's a one-and-done release. I've recently done some work for a client to move a number of their map services over to shared instances. They have concerns that some of their map services that have currently been identified as low use (and subsequently been set to use shared instances) will gain popularity and eventually become mid to high use and no longer appropriate for using shared instances. If there is a roadmap for ArcSOC Optimizer, would it be possible to add the ability for it to: recommend whether a map service should be set to used shared or dedicated instances based on its usage patters; and be able to make the recommended changes If ArcSOC Optimizer is not being actively developed, does this sound like something that could be achieved via an an ArcGIS Optimizer extension
