Hi Jon, We use the enterprise Active Directory as the primary authentication tool. I run the Python script in Python Command Prompt window. Nothing shows in the Edge dev tools. If I insert my Windows user credentials in the command string, the script authenticates and reads the CSV file, then throws a invalid token error suggesting the specified geocoder is a problem. Thanks, Jay

We are working with the new Workforce application in ArcGIS for Enterprise. I have created a new 'headless' user account through the 'add built-in portal members' option, specifying the username and password, as there is no enterprise login (no email address) for this user. We use the headless account in the various python assignment scripts available on GitHub, for use in a task manager, etc. Whenever I try to sign on to Portal with this new username and password, I keep getting prompted for credentials. I can see the user in the Members page in Portal and access the various manage and view options for this user profile. I even went so far as to reset the original password, but I am still unable to sign on. We have used the same idea in AGOL successfully. I hope this is something simple I am overlooking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Aaron, Where can I find the -custom geocoder-id values for various custom geocoders? We have gotten past the credential issue (I think), the CSV file is read, but we now seem to be tripping over the geocoder. If I don't include the custom geocoder parameter in the command line, I get an invalid token error. If I include the parameter using an ID (from past work, and I have no recollection of where I found this value), the message is suggesting something to do with the geocoder.

Hi Aaron, We are using Enterprise 10.8.1, ArcGIS Pro 2.8.0 and whatever version of Python shipped with Pro 2.8. The create assignment script threw a Pendulum error. We cloned the Project Environment in the Python Package Manager and installed the Pendulum package, error subsided. We are running the script in the Python Command Prompt C:\.........arcgispro-py3-clone. I will doubled check the case sensitivity on the users, as I have a vague recollection of this happening a couple of years ago. We are providing the username and password in the command line string in the command prompt shell. Not sure how to modify it to use an OAuth flow. Many thanks, Jay

I am trying to use the 'create assignment from csv' python script for assignment creation in the new Workforce in ArcGIS for Enterprise Portal. In the past I had been successful using this script for assignment created in Workforce in AGOL. When I insert a headless Enterprise user account with administrative privileges, it appears the authentication fails. When I insert my credentials, authentication appears to succeed, but then an error occurs stating my username is not a dispatcher. The Workforce project (new not classic) has me as a dispatcher. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, I would like the option to set different colors on the pins for the Map Tour (Explorer option) in the new Story Map application. I developed a Story Map about the various apartment, commercial, etc. development going on around town (Development Plan Proposals (arcgis.com)). Our Planning Department would like to see the pins colored as the status of the project: new/proposed, council approved, under construction, finished, delayed, or similar. Each step in the the development's progress would have a corresponding color. The status could be a field in the feature service. Thank you.

Hi Colin, Thanks for your reply and I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner. As per your suggestions, I have been mindful of checking the app while I am out (bring the app to the foreground on my phone), and I set the streaming interval to 50 feet. Either or both appear to have brought additional stability to the app performance. It still takes a little time to Stop Streaming and have the app kick out of that mode. I have been able to save extended line feature streaming now and I have not lost a line feature on several outings. Thank you for your help. Regards, Jay

Hi Colin, Thanks for the reply. I may have found the cause, at least it is worth investigating. I had replaced an Esri reference basemap with an aerial image. It appeared that on shorter walks, I could get away with using the image and collect the path. I went back into the configure Field Maps browser window, and saw the error about needing a map layer that is supported for offline mode. I switched to an Esri reference basemap, and the error went away. I will give this give this configuration a try. I have an Android phone, Samsung S9, Android version 10 software, which I update whenever I get the message to update software, looks like Feb 1, 2021 was the last update. The Streaming Interval was set to 10 feet, I had not messed with this setting yet. I changed it to 20 feet, which still may be too often. I will hit the pavement again and let you know! Regards, Jay

Hi. I am learning to use Field Maps. I have created a simple line feature service, editable, and shared to my AGOL organization which contains one line template. I am collecting walks I take each day. I start Field Maps, start a new line feature, start streaming, then off I go. The last two walks have been lengthy, 45 minutes to an hour in length. When I returned after each, the features were not saved. In the first case, I had trouble with the Stop Streaming command, eventually the app froze, and line feature lost. In the second case, somewhere along the walk the path feature disappeared, as if it was never started. I could see the path being drawn on my phone as I walked. I redrew both paths in the service in Pro. The Stop Streaming command has been problematic since I have started using Field Maps. It seems very slow to respond when clicked. Is there a time limit or length limit when creating line features in Field Maps? And am I doing something wrong when attempting to stop streaming? Thanks in advance, Jay

Hello, I am using this exercise in a GIS class I am teaching. After setting up their own feature service and web map, the students are collecting data at two parks of their choosing in the local community. I have also gathered data at two parks. I plan to combine all of the results onto one map. The exercise and the app's use in the field has worked very well. Have fun!

Hi Bill, I have no answer but wanted to chime in and say we have a similar situation, and I have a similar skill set to you. I am working with field crews who are "technology hesitant," so any opportunity to make the user experience easier is welcome. Thank you for posting. Regards, Jay

Hi Craig, I think we figured out what was happening. The majority of the issue had to do with not understanding the setup requirements of layers and web maps. From what I can recall from the several discussion with Esri support, layers all have to be in the same coordinate space and all enabled to go offline. I know we were consuming services from AGOL and from our Enterprise setup, which may have been part of the issue as well. Our municipality has a small foot print, so having to work offline is unlikely. We were also provided links to online content that described the requirements. Sincerely, Jay

I may have figured out the cause. In the hosted feature service Items page in AGOL, I found a geometry update option in "Settings....Editing...What kind of editing allowed?" Under 'Update,' there is a choice to include 'Attributes and geometry.' I clicked on "Manage geometry updates" and discovered the feature layer in the service was not selected. I clicked the layer on. Saved. Refreshed, ran the script and no errors. I refreshed the application in the browser and could see the vacant space counts were updating each minute and the script was now working as expected.

Hello. We have a python script running in Windows Task Scheduler. The script retrieves vacant parking space counts from a vendor's database through their API. The counts are updated every minute in our editable feature service, displaying the current number of vacant parking spaces in a couple of municipal parking lots. In the past few days, I noticed the counts were not updating. The script has been working since November 2019, though I don't know when it stopped. We have not edited the script since placing it into production in November 2019. ArcGIS Pro is installed on the server, we updated Pro to v 2.7 today. For troubleshooting, I ran the script manually, and noticed the following error. I am a Python novice. Craig, I had a hunch this might be the case. I will double check the sync settings just in case, but I am pretty sure all are set to sync. I was starting a support ticket already, so will pursue that route for now. I will also let you know the outcome. Regards, Jay
