When using item.update, the status returned will show True, even if a False state should be returned. Here is an example where the filename is incorrect for an update of an Excel spreadsheet: id = "9d299ad2fb664e90b6bfb136396653b2"
item = GIS.content.get(id)
path = "\\\\Example\\Path\\ToSheet\\millage_info.xlxxx"
itemStatus = item.update(item_properties=None,data=path,metadata=None)
print(itemStatus)
print(item.status())
...
True
{'statusMessage': 'completed', 'itemId': '9d299ad2fb664e90b6bfb136396653b2', 'status': 'completed'}
Tested on Python API versions 1.0.1 and 1.2.3

Have you contacted ESRI Support about this? I'm curious if they consider this a feature. It is frustrating that the Update feature will update shapefiles/file geodatabases but not other datasets. These bugs might be related: BUG-000103557: The hosted view of a feature layer does not update w..

Thanks for your reply Dan Patterson The problem probably originated from the fact that I was trying to upgrade a package in an environment, and I think the environment was a manual copy of Pro's conda environment ('arcgispro-py3'). There might be a license validation step that appends a token to the upgrade request in conda. To fix this I upgraded ArcGIS from Pro, and then manually copied the environment folder from C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\bin\Python\envs\arcgispro-py3 to my env location and renamed. This is awfully hacky, but it doesn't appear that cloning pro's environment is supported. (see post:https://community.esri.com/thread/196691-create-cloned-conda-environment-as-user#comment-694016)

I had previously upgraded the arcgis package to 1.0.1. When I attempted to upgrade to 1.2.3 I received the error below. Has anyone else experienced this? Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS Derek Law It would be very beneficial if users had the ability to customize symbology of layers in the Layer List Widget. Changing Line Width/Color/Polygon Fills would assist our users with color vision deficiency. It would also help reduce cost in printing, as Black and White prints would become much more feasible. Ideally this preference would be set in the cache. The framework is already in place; Some settings are already cached, like extent and layer visibility. This ability already exists in the Query Widget, which is wonderful. Maybe it could be extended to the Layer List widget. See Idea: https://geonet.esri.com/ideas/12640-allow-user-to-modify-symbology-of-query-widget-results UI Builder Layout Ideas: Widget Builder Config App Config

It would be really nice if the LGIM was still published as a complete data model that could be examined in a geodatabase This download is current as of March 2017. It includes the model as an XML document that you can import to a fGDB. Esri Accounts

sbritt-esristaff, It seems that suggestions that have not been validated as legitimate addresses should not be suggested. Maybe the development team should consider this from a user perspective. Clicking on suggestions that go nowhere is a waste of time.

After much discussion with support the problem is related to using ESRI_OID. We use ESRI_OID in query layers to overcome the problem of not having a naively assigned unique column. It appears that queries generated from Open Data don't adequately account for this field. This is odd because querying ESRI_OID from the REST endpoint works. Too bad it isn't recognized through the Open Data spec. Recommendation from ESRI rep was to add a unique column to all tables shared out to Open Data. On a related note, for those struggling to get accurate row counts in Query Layers, assigning a new field with a unique value is possible: SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY parcel) AS row_num FROM table

You can choose to overwrite a service when publishing from ArcMap. You must add a feature class to a map to publish a table.
