I noticed in ArcGIS Pro that some of the pane are very particular as to where you can click on them to open up additional functionality. One of them in particular is the Symbology pane. I was trying to group two values by selecting two groups then right clicking to group. I could not. It turns out I was right clicking on the column to the right of "Label" which did not do anything when I right clicked on the column. Please consider one of the following: *Do not highlight this 4th column (it gives the impression that the column does something) *Remove the column completely. *Allow the users to interact with the column such as enable right clicks, hold mouse button down to enable sort etc.

Hello, When using the Catalog in ArcGIS Pro I noticed that "Computer" and "Database Server" are not included by default in the contents list. I think "Computer" should be included because that is a good starting point to connect to File Geodatabases on our local machine and our network. My non GIS coworkers will not adopt ArcGIS Pro without it. I am also concerned that "Database Server" is not included as well. In ArcCatalog I had always thought that "Database Connections" are there to connect to data that ArcGIS may or may not be able to administer and edit such as a PostGIS database. Alternatively I thought "Database Server" was to manage ArcSDE Geodatabases that ArcGIS can administer such as a File Geodatabase stored in SQL Server Express. Did they merge "Database Server" and "Database Connections" in ArcGIS Pro. NOTE: Either way I would still like the all the ArcSDE databases to appear in the catalog by default. I do not want to reconnect to my ArcSDE server for each project. Thanks!

Hello, It took me a long time to figure out how to add a catalog to an existing project. When we have a map open we can add a new map by using Insert --> New Map. However, to access the catalog we need to go to View--> Catalog view. Should this tool instead be located under Insert-->Catalog instead?

Hello, I have a single layer with several hundred features in it. Many of the features overlap each other. I would like identify all those overlaps and create a new layer that combines the attributes of the original layer. For example consider the following example where CD 10 and JD 18 overlap each other slightly. I would like to create a new layer that contains three features with the following attributes: *A feature called CD 10 where there is no overlap with JD 18. *A feature called CD 10, JD 18 where CD 10 and JD 18 overlap. *A feature called JD 18 where there is no overlap with CD 10. I thought Union would do the trick, but it does not seem to produce the results that I expected. Furthermore it would be useful if we could keep the overlapped features in alphabetical order so that CD 10 always proceeds JD 18. Please let me know how I can union / intersect / etc all the features within a single layer so that I can identify overlaps and create a layer without any overlaps. Thank You!

Hello, I have a shapefile that contains a list of parcels with about 16,000 records as well as a table that has a list of assessments with about 44,000 records. I would like to join / relate the table to the parcel layer and export a new shapefile with 44,000 records, which would include one record for each related record as opposed to one record for each record in the shapefile. Shapefile records: PIN 01-001001-0 01-001002-0 Table Records PIN, CODE, Value 01-001001-0, A10, $50 01-001001-0, A20, $47 01-001002-0, A10, $38 Desired Output A shapefile with the following attributes 01-001001-0, A10, $50 01-001001-0, A20, $47 01-001002-0, A10, $38 Please let me know what the best way is to export a shapefile with all of the 44,000 joined or related records. Thank You!

Hello, Adding data in ArcGIS pro is much more confusing and frustrating in ArcGIS Pro than it was in ArcMap. For example if I want to add a WMS layer to a map, my first instinct is to click "Add Data". The default Add data exposes the project, portal, and Computer. There is no option to add a new connection in this dialog. So I closed the dialog box and selected the dropdown on Add Data-->Add Data from path. ArcGIS reported an error after manually entering in the URL for my WMS server, which I thought was funny because the path is valid in ArcCatalog. Next, on the insert tab that there is an option to add a connection. I did find "Add WMS Connection" under the add connection dropdown. After entering in the connection from the URL in ArcCatalog I hit okay. I noticed I could not see any way to add the data from that dialog so I went back to "Add Data." In the Add Data dialog I initially only saw project, portal, and comptuer again. Which made me wonder if I did something wrong, or If I needed to go somewhere else still to add the data. Fortunately however I did see the WMS connection under Add Data-->project-->Servers-->WMS Connection. Requests: Please add Insert Connections to the Add Data dialog box. In my opinion users should be able to add any data from a single dialog box. If not please move add connections from the Insert tab to the map tab so we only need to work with a single pane to add data. Once a connection is established please add the ability to remove the connection from the project in the Add Data dialog box. Working with data seems to be somewhat project focused in ArcPro. While this can be good so we can focus on specific layers that project, it also makes it a pain because we have to manually copy and paste connection information between various projects, which seems unnecessary because we often use the same WMS services for each and every project we have. When we add a favorite connection should that connection to every favorite be included? Reconsider the partial integration of ArcCatalog. I find it odd that it is available if you add a ArcGIS Catalog template (which also lets you add maps), but not if you add a map. It should either be available on every project, or no project. Possible Add Data Dialog Box: Project (Project specific) Databases Portal Items Servers Folders Favorites (Common to all projects) Folders Servers Portal Favorites Database Favorites Other Favorites Portal Same as current Servers All known ArcGIS Server Connections All known WMS Connections All known WMTS Connections etc Computer Same as current GeoLocators Etc... Thank You

When sharing a map from ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap or ArcGIS pro), I noticed that the feature symbology is retained, however the label properties are not. When I asked about this I was told the label engine in ArcGIS Online is different from the label engine in ArcGIS Desktop. I realize the label engine in ArcGIS Online is much more simplistic than the Desktop label engines, however should it not be easy to retain the relevant label properties? Properties that could be retained from ArcMap / ArcPro Label Field Label Size Bold, Italic, Underline Halo properties Visible range Cavats If there are several label classes then perhaps only the default class properties would be retained The label would need to be based on a single field, and could not contain complex expressions.

I think credits need to stay. It costs money for ESRI to store data and run geoprocessing scripts. What I would like to see is if ArcGIS Online provided better feedback on how certian operations consume credits. For example, It would be nice if we could get a warning such as "Uploading this dataset will consume about 100 credits per month, or 1200 credits per year. Are you sure you want to continue..." In addition I would consider consolidating some of the roles. Field Worker and Editor seem redundant to me. Also should it really cost almost twice as much to edit data in the field vs editing data in the office?

Don, I highly doubt there would be big difficulties. ESRI can export to KML just fine and my guess is that KML files are somewhat similar to SLD.

Hello, I am considering using the Citizen Problem Reporter, which allows the public to edit and store data on a feature hosted layer. I am concerned about how many could be used as this application allows the public to edit data. I would like to see if ESRI could implement some controls that might help limit how many credits are used at the feature service level. Some ideas that could be implemented: Allow us to require "I am not a robot" validation for guest editors. Limit the number of edits per IP address per day. For example allow us to only allow someone to make 20 edits a day. Limit the number of credits that a single hosted layer can use so that our credits are not consumed by a single hosted feature layer. This is similar to how we can limit credits by user to make sure that no single user, or layer consumes an unexpected number of credits. Thank You!

Hello, Currently the parcel fabric name parcel tool only allows integers. Please expand the tool to allow sequential letters such as: A,B,C,D. This would be useful for some areas where lots use letters instead of numbers. Thanks!

Hello, It would be useful if we could configure a fallback license server for ArcGIS. Background: Our Highway Department would like to purchase a concurrent license for only their department to use. However, I warned them that only one of their staff could use GIS at a single time as the software cannot check out a license from first their machine, then our general license server. Example Use: A Highway Department user opens ArcGIS. ArcGIS looks to see if their is an open license on the Highway ArcGIS license server. If all the licenses are in use then ArcGIS looks to see if there is an open license on the General ArcGIS license server. Rational: This way the highway department could budget purchasing their own license for their needs and not have to worry about not being able to take advantage of the regular county pool of licenses. Thank You!
