Do any Python API tasks (such as overlay analysis) on hosted services consume service credits? If so, is there an easy way to estimate credit use before running a task?

The blog notes using Geometry($feature).x and Geometry($feature).y which appears to be Avenue code, but it seems Avenue still isn't supported in Collector. Has this changed?

Similarly, we sometimes have many assignments created at once that aren't all ready to be assigned out. When managers are ready to assign them (for instance if a street patch crew is now available for catch basin repairs), it would be helpful if we could symbolize them by the assignment type within the Workforce webmap (or, at the very least, temporarily turn off the other assignment types as is possible for assignment status). Instead, we've had to create web maps accessible in Collector for managers. It would have been helpful to have had templates available for that workflow rather than building from scratch. Check-box filters for workers or worker types (again, analogous to the assignment status) would similarly be helpful.

I have prepared a presentation to our municipal users group to go over the many limitations of Workforce for our organization and would be happy to share it if you're still doing discovery on Workforce. For example, if work has to be done and someone is out sick, the replacement worker should have access to that individuals' tasks. Single sign-on doesn't allow that. If a task has several parts, Workforce doesn't keep track of the progress of that task and managers have too much responsibility (and no mobile app) to make Workforce worthwhile. I have not yet found any use for which Workforce works OOTB; its only benefit is that I can add dropdowns on the fly with a hosted service. We are building tons of Collector apps for staff to use instead and leaving all tasks unassigned, but I still can't easily track multi-part tasks. Cartegraph, Munis, and other systems are probably more appropriate to most task management and hopefully could be integrated with Collector.

Thanks! That clarifies things immensely, so now I retract my statement on AA not being useful – and hopefully this string will be helpful for others trying to implement it in a versioned environment.

Do you keep the Dynamic and Generate ID tables in the map with your data, such that versioned editing is turned on in the map and the Dynamic/Generate ID tables appear to be uneditable (but are edited on the backend by AA), or do you omit the tables from the map? Thanks, Alison

One major drawback of the Attribute Assistant is that it doesn't support versioned databases. This is a concern because to edit feature classes that participate in a topology, network dataset [STREETS], or geometric network [UTILITIES], or edit the parcel fabric, you must register the data as versioned. If support for versioning isn't possible (one workaround is to give each user a separate GenerateID table and have the auto-increment function vary to assure unique IDs), The Attribute Assistant instructions should explicitly state that because the GenerateID field cannot be versioned, the Attribute Assistant cannot readily be used to assign IDs to features participating in topologies, networks, or parcel fabrics. Additional details from ESRI documentation: By default, ArcMap edit sessions are set to perform versioned edits. This means you can only edit data that has been registered as versioned. To perform nonversioned edits on nonversioned data, you must first set an option on the Versioning tab of the Editing Options dialog box. Essentially, you must turn off versioned editing by unchecking Edit a version of the database with the ability to undo and redo. Once you start editing, you cannot change the type of edit session while the edit session is open. If you later need to perform versioned edits, you must close the nonversioned edit session, recheck the Edit a version of the database with the ability to undo and redo option, and start a versioned edit session.
