Hi Missy, Did you use the ArcPad Data Manager toolbar in ArcMap to prepare the data? If you didn't and you still have time you may want to check it out. The toolbar has a "Get Data For ArcPad" tool which prepares all of the files in a new folder which you can copy to your Trimble unit. The tool creates an APM (ArcPad Map file) and AXF (ArcPad's version of a geodatabase). It also has a "Get Data From ArcPad" which you use to synchronize the edits you made in the field back to the original source. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Amanda, Yeah, I can see your issue, that's unfortunate, the intended layout is not being honored. This doesn't solve your problem but it might help as we are getting closer to the issue. I can replicate the content shift in Chrome (v42) but not in Internet Explorer (v11). Could it be a browser issue? Anyone else have expertise in this area?

Hi Amanda, Nice homepage , very clean and intuitive. From the looks of it I would guess this is Portal for ArcGIS versus the Esri hosted ArcGIS Online? Either way, the question still remains, why do the widgets move. Are you seeing widgets on the Marion County homepage move? Testing it on my end, I am seeing the "Featured Content" (Points of Interest, Boundary Data etc.) move upon refresh. Is this your issue or something other?

ArcGIS Online Web Apps or other? I've been working with ArcGIS Online Web Apps and haven't seen this happen (yet). Let us know what the application/environment is and what type of widget (custom or out of the box). Hopefully myself or someone else can help.

Any suggestion on how to calculate the length (meters) of a feature class (line) which is in GCS_WGS_1984. Calculating the Meters field based on Shape_Length results in the decimal degrees distance. I could project the feature class, calculate area, join back to the original feature, and calculate the meters but I was looking for something cleaner. Is there a way to define a projection temporarily within Model Builder then calculate area? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi Daniel, I don't think ArcGIS Online has Clip to Shape tools out of the box. You can find a complete list of the analysis tools here. Or within a web map, if you right click on the feature and select Perform Analysis (screen shot below) you can find a list of analysis tools available for that feature type (point, line, poly). Be aware that performing analysis while on ArcGIS Online utilizes credits. A secondary workflow would be to publish the Clip to Shape tool as a geoprocessing service on your ArcGIS Server, then bring that into to ArcGIS Online as a geoprocessing widget in a Web App. It's a much more lengthy process than I am making it sound but you can bring any ArcCatalog Tools into ArcGIS Online and run them without credit usage. Hope this is helpful and good luck!

Steve, I think you are on the right track posting to this forum but could you be a little more specific so we can help. Are you using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, or both? When you say offline are referring to a mobile device taking features offline, editing, and synchronizing those edits? Provide us some details of your workflow and I think the community can help. Thanks and good luck.

Peter, very interesting question. We are in the process of implementing Collector as our Mobile solution and I hadn't considered the caveat of logging in to the application when in the field/offline. I certainly can't help with the answer but I hope Miaogeng Zhang or Russell Roberts can help (or someone in the community). Both are Esri employees who actively respond to GeoNet Collector concerns. Russell had been leading Collector but just transitioned over to ArcGIS Online support and Miaogeng has stepped into his role. Good luck and I'll be following your discussion.

Have you seen Robert Scheitlin's Custom WAB Widgets He built an Enhanced Search Widget which allows the user to search any of the features within the map by a particular field and parameters within that field. For example for the Zone Layer you can query Zone Type = Residential and view the attributes and features on the map which match the query. Not exactly what you need but maybe headed in the right direction. Also, you may post this question on Robert's Discussion "What Widget Do You Want Most."

If you digitize a line feature in Collector the length is displayed in the attribute table at the top of the table just above the name of the feature. For points the coordinate location is displayed, for polygons area, and for lines length.

I've always worked in GIS shops that use the HP Designjet plotters almost exclusively. I think HP has a fairly wide range of plotters depending upon your desired graphics quality and projected workload. I will say I inherited a Canon iPF8400 and recognized quickly that the supplies where much more costly than HP supplies (ink, print heads, etc.) HP has always treated us well for reliability and low cost supplies (relative to others).

Russell, I saw your status has you moving to support ArcGIS Online and the Scene viewer products. Good luck with that and thank you for all your previous Collector support! On this particular discussion issue (Collector consuming Route and Geocoding Services) it appears the issue is with our server and security configuration. Our ArcGIS Server Service REST endpoints are not publicly facing/accessible. Esri Support was able to help me identify this and suggest solutions which will require me to work with my local IT to make the web address public. Working on that now along with an alternative solution of hosting everything on Portal (not set up yet) and having the mobile users required to be signed in on VPN. Thanks again for all your help!

Sorry Todd, I misunderstood your need and thought I was providing a helpful answer. I understand better now. Let me look into modifying the address locator properties and get back with you. Currently out of the office through the remainder of the week so if anyone can help in the mean time please chime in.
