Leland Snyder, did you ever find a solution? We are seeing this "Bad Syntax" at 10.5.1 now, looking at the same workflow.

Derek Law based on the solution here, is this a known issue? We are about to endeavor in more formal editing processes using feature services, but stumbling upon this thread gave me pause. The eGDB modelers may be proposing to add relationship classes to many layers in the database, but not attachments based ones. If this is an issue can you add it to the doc for ArcMap (and Pro if still an issue there). Thanks! Also, are there any plans to allow the editor to specify a polygon to use as an AOI for this "Create Local Copy for editing." This would make a lot of sense for multiple editors to work on their campus/installation though they may fall in the same extent..

Do you have plans to include this as part of On-premise ArcGIS Enterprise? If so at what version? Thanks! J Jason Worrel

Yeah, the government does not allow outbound reporting from their systems as far as we can tell. And it would be a number of other users you would see if they did. We'll probably recommend still applying the patch as we confirmed the systems dont have it, but are pretty certain there is a discrepancy between citrix version and ArcGIS desktop requirements that are probably at least part of the problem. Thanks for the info!

Thanks Tasmanian Irrigation, that would work on a smaller scale I think, but with a global dataset with editors editing across time zones (essentially continuously) we really would want read-only joins to be implemented without such a workaround. I can understand the complexity about editing, but not about read-only feature services.

Kory Kramer I see the same bug is fixed for 10.5.1, and our 10.5.1 users are experiencing a lot of freezes and crashes (we have not implemented the patch that Curtis Price mentions, yet). Do you know if it address the same issue as this blog post suggests, but for 10.5.1? Or if the the issue this blog post refers to is also relevant for 10.5.1? Thanks! Same deal here, but with Oracle and AGS 10.5.1. Anyone get a workaround or solution.

Our initial hope was to be able to flag and ultimately remove content that was no longer being used, to keep our Enterprise Portal lean and reduce risk of it becoming a "junk drawer" of GIS content. So, to answer your questions, yes we would want the items to auto expire once the met our set condition. Ideally a user could also set an expiration date on the item when they create it (maybe a required field, defaulting to a system configurable value like a year, but include "Never" as an option perhaps if the data is marked as authoritative?- new at 10.7.x too perhaps?) Then that list of expired content would not come up in normal searches or add data widgets, and owners of the groups that content was shared to would be able to see the list of expired items that was shared to their group (subset) and bulk delete it at any given time. Admins would see the list of expired items and if it was only shared to Organization or Everyone, (or they could see all expired content portal-wide with an optional query param) and be able to bulk delete it as well. This would also likely/ideally lead to the item dependency tracking in Portal more robust and discoverable, if feature layers, for example that are utilized in other webmaps/apps get expired or deleted, the portal or apps will handle it well with accurate messaging. Thanks for following up on this idea!

Hi esri folks and fellow users, The following discussion/question relates more to on-prem ArcGIS Enterprise. We have a global user base broken down into regions. The current default role (and in the future, user type) for new users of the system will be Level 1 Named users, which will crosswalk to Viewer in the new user-type paradigm. The challenge we now face at 10.5.1 (in Beta review) and it seems will stay true to the new system is this: A user must be in an Administrative role to change another a user from a Level 1 Named User to a Level 2 Named User in order to create content, perform buffer analysis, etc. 1) Is this going to remain true with the new user-type paradigm? 2) Are others finding this a challenge at 10.5.1 and above? Our use case is this (using user-type model terms): A Viewer in Italy would like to create content, (note we see this as a frequent request that will increase for the system when it goes to PRD). They must request for a User-Type change to Creator or above. Unfortunately the only user-type/role who can currently make this change is an Administrator of the Portal in the hosting center. Moreover, the Regional leadership would need to make the call as to if this person is allowed to change to this user-type, so the folks who can make the access call cant execute the action. It would be ideal if the Regional leadership could have the privilege to change the users from Viewer to other user-types that require being able to create content. Note there is an Admin privilege that can be given to these Regional leaders that does allow them to change users between Level 2 custom roles, while they are NOT Administrators, they are publishers. So in the new user-type paradigm it sounds like these privileges still exist, can a privilege (or a User Manager/Curator user-type) be added to allow non-Admins to make this change without being able to change, for example, things like which servers are participating in the federation and other system configuration items you would NOT want non-Admins making. Wondering if other users watching this thread see value in this suggestion (which was a capability at 10.3.1, btw).

Hi, What user types will be able to perform a buffer (or any analysis for that matter) using the Analysis Widgets in Web Application Builder for ArcGIS Essential Bundle . In Portal For ArcGIS that requires a Level 2 Named User. What User type will be needed in AGOL after Dec 4, and in Portal for ArcGIS at 10.7?

What version of Portal for ArcGIS does this support? I noted in the new blog that it supports marking content as Authoritative, so that indicates it may not be designed to work with 10.5.1? Is it possible you can call out in your doc what is AGOL vs Enterprise capability going forward (asterix ok).

Thanks Angus. Yeah our hostnames do not have "arcgis" in their hostnames. We will have to reach out to esri support. Something very funky going on with the environment we are in, it seems.
