Once a month, over a period of 2 days, our utility department provides a list of customer addresses to the Maintenance department to shut the water meter off. After the bill gets paid they call Maintenance to turn the water back on. Last week I set up Workforce to streamline this process. In the past it was done with paper and phone calls. For the most part it worked well on the first day For the 2nd day I made the utility billing specialist a dispatcher and he immediately saw how it streamlines the process if HE makes the assignments. I set up one project for both turn off and turn on assignments. Typically the workers turn off in the morning and then start turning on in the afternoon. The main issue with the dispatcher map is that when a turn off assignment is completed the map shows a green dot. If that location gets assigned again to turn on and it gets completed it become a green dot also. When there is a mixture of finished dots for both turn off and turn on assignments the map gets confusing. In this case, you really need to look at the list instead. One thought I had was to create different projects for turn on and turn off assignments. For the dispatcher map I would add the turn off assignments layer to the turn on project and vice versa. This would allow me to change the symbols and/or colors to a something different for that other assignment type. It would mean that the worker would need to remember to switch between projects. The other thought I had would be to leave the assignments combined and in the dispatch map use a copy of the assignment layer plus filters on both layers. I can change the symbols to differentiate between the two layers, however, in the project where the dispatcher would work there is no legend to help the user. I want to be able to create assignments on assets and I want the asset id to be part of the assignment record. I know that I could do this through bulk loading of assignments (populating ID or description with the asset id). However, on the fly it has to be manually done. This is what I have found. If I configure the popup to show the asset id in the title and I click on the asset the popup shows the asset id with the approximate address underneath that value. If I click on Create Assignment it populates the Location with the asset id only. Before the popup closes I could copy the address value out and past it into the description. If I configure the popup to show nothing in the title and I click on the asset the popup shows the address at the top but it does not pass that address into the Location box. However, if I click on a second asset (as if I was creating multiple assignments), it does not show the popup but it passes the address into the Location box. In this case, I'm getting the address but I can't even see the asset id to copy into the ID or Description box. A workaround is to position the asset id field near the top of my popup and when it opens copy everything to the description box and then copy/paste from there into the appropriate boxes.  105 WALL ST METER_NUMBER 63126136 This works and I can train my dispatchers to do it this way but like anything done manually there is a greater chance of mistakes vs an automatic method. I saw that the June release has a configurable option for displaying the popup information for features in uneditable reference layers. I enabled that option but it doesn't work. I can see the popup in the web map but not in the application. ... View more

I'm following the instructions on how to create assignments from existing features. I uploaded a shapefile to the dispatcher map. After saving the map and opening the project and using the box to select the features nothing is selected.  When I click on a feature nothing is selected. Also, in the dispatcher map configuration I can click on a point and see a popup. In the dispatcher screen I cannot click on a point and see the popup. Is this normal behavior? Update: Under the "Tip: Create multiple assignments at once" it says to Click + Assignments and gives 3 methods. The 3rd method, use the Identify tool, is faded out and says "Identify is disabled while editing assignments" Update 2: Using a hosted feature service works. I thought that uploading a shapefile essentially turns it into a feature service. ... View more

Is it possible to join a hosted feature class with a survey123 form feature service for display in a ArcGIS Online map? I essentially want to create a relate or relationship class like in ArcGIS desktop. I've seen the join command under the analysis tab. Is what I described the purpose of this join command? If not, how would I go about to achieve this type of join? ... View more
