As a user working with different ArcGIS Portal/ArcGIS Online environments for different activities, it would be great if ArcGIS Pro can remember the active Portal per project. This would remove the need to manually switch portals when switching between different ArcGIS Pro projects.

I wrote up this whole thing but you cover the same idea: The idea in my web search: "Set default portal login for different ArcGIS Pro Projects" - returns only how to directions for Portal Manager so I am assuming that there is no solution for this yet. I am using ArcGIS Pro 3.3.0 as of October 2024. I request the ability to allow for a Portal sign in to be locked (default set) per ArcGIS Pro Project. It would be very beneficial and time saving to have a Portal and/or ArcGIS Online Sign-on connected to a project. I seem to recall that ArcMap retained the connection set in "ArcGIS Online..." & "Sign In..." - but I may be incorrect. The solution might more closely resemble using an .ags file to connect to ArcGIS Server data in Catalog as this does save the .ags to the .aprx folder but does not lock in the Portals Sign on. Maybe it is possible to add "Sign in this project using .ags file along with existing "Sign in using Browser"? IF not,  ArcGIS Pro does have the "Active Portal" option, but I propose that there is also a "Default Portal" locked to the ArcGIS Pro Project somehow. As of now, I have over ten AGOL and Enterprise Portals that I need to access in ArcGIS Pro. Two of which I manage as Admin and am constantly switching default Sign in using Portal Manager in ArcGIS Pro. This would be very helpful to me and the GIS Community! Thanks, Nate.

I think this is a great idea and would really help us as consultants who work with a lot of different portals daily. It would also be useful for organizations who have both AGOL and Enterprise, for example.

Also, for reference, there is a much older post with the same idea here: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/save-active-portal-in-arcgis-pro-project/idc-p/155424...

Another behavior to correct is the connections are lost so the layers are all disconnected.  If the connection to active portal is made the project need to be closed and re-open to reconnect.  an improvement would be to automatically recognize the lost connections, and force a portal connection before opening an APRx file.

I work with 6 different portals.  When opening a project and not authenticated to a portal the layers lose the source references.
