Thanks Robert. That threw up a red flag for me and it wasn't immediately apparent what it meant. So I should have interpreted hard coded as something that was packaged with the Viewer and since the Viewer is configurable it can be changed. Unfortunately, the accuracy of Esri's locator service is not the greatest in my area and I want to constantly be able to improve my street ranges so my initial understanding of this would have caused a no-go for the upgrade. Thanks for clearing that up.

The Locator widget's configuration file will no longer reference a hardcoded URL. Starting with 3.6, it will automatically set the locator based on what is specified for the portal/organization. Can somebody explain this? I use my own address locator, does this mean I will be forced to use the esri services or am I just misreading this. I have an organization account but only includes myself that came with my maintenance agreement. I'm not exactly sure where this setting is set. I want to be sure I understand this before I attempt to upgrade from 3.4 to 3.6.

Perhaps this may be included in the update that adds Disconnected Editing but I'd really like to use the Collector interface but with the ability to postprocess some of my data. As of now there isn't a good way to collect high accuracy GPS using Collector because I am limited to the mobile device's GPS which is generally in the 5-10 meter range, too high for what I do.

I'm having the same problem, how did you fix this? I've been modifying the feature service until I get it to behave exactly the way I want and it stopped working when first I added a raster field and second when I enabled attachments. I am thinking I may eliminate the raster field as attachments serve my purpose better. UPDATE: I am not using a hosted feature service. UPDATE: Removing the raster field seems to have done the trick. Not sure what the issue was there.

I've been asked to map our current Sanitation Truck routes, we're trying to see how efficient they are and are considering curbside only pickup instead of the alleys. I don't have network analyst and I've found a number of places where it is difficult to map areas where there is a lot of retracing of steps so to speak. You can quickly get lost trying to figure out where the next part of the route is. I've put arrows on the end of the lines to try to resolve this but there still are issues. I've also tried using a geometric network but that doesn't really solve my problem. Has anyone else worked with this sort of routes before outside of Network Analyst? I'm going to check with other area cities to see what they do for this.

I am only using single user file geodatabases and I don't see any lock files when I have tried to delete it. No sure what could be causing this.

I tried creating a geometric network on a feature dataset and there was an error and if I remember correctly, ArcMap decided to crash. Now one of my feature classes is forever locked. I try to delete it and it says it can't be deleted. I try to create a new geometric network and it says it is unavailable because it participates in another network. There is no other Geometric Network in the feature dataset. For now I copied the feature class so I could add it to the Network but now I have the extra feature class that is useless. I tried to edit it by deleting the feature in it and I get an error that says the feature could not be deleted and most recently my mxd just crashes when I try to edit it. I'm actually trying to decide if I even need a Geometric Network. I'm creating a feature that shows the routes of our Sanitation trucks as they pick up trash. I had originally wanted to show the flow arrows but I'm not sure if it worth having the headaches of a Geometric Network to achieve this. I use Geometric Networks for my utilities and it is beneficial there. Any ideas?

Similar issue here. I tried to edit it by deleting the feature in it and I get an error that says the feature could not be deleted. The geometric network was not found. So if the geometric network is not found then why can't I delete the feature class? I also thought maybe it had something to do with features involved in a service but that theory proved invalid since I tried doing this with all of my services stopped. How do I get rid of the phantom Geometric Network and useless locked file? I've since decided I don't need that original file as part of the network because the only reason I'm really using a Network is for flow arrows. They symbolize better this way.

I've had issues this past couple of days when working with my Geometric Network for Water Distribution. I'm using the Attribute Assistant and the Water Utility Network Editing toolbar. If I save very regularly it seems to be okay but sometimes ArcMap tells me it is unable to save edits and then I try to stop edits and it of course it asks if I want to save edits and it says something to the effect that it can't save edits because its read only or schema locked. Has anyone else had a similar issue with this? Is there some sort of log file somewhere that would show any errors, it could be that one of the feature classes is corrupted, maybe I'll try a couple of them to see if there are any errors. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm going back this morning to see what was lost, so far it appears that some of the work I did yesterday is still intact. What I would note is that shortly before I left last night, I checked ArcCatalog and all of the modified dates there were from Tuesday and this morning those same feature classes show yesterday at 5:04pm. So I'm really confused.

I agree with Leo, I do something similar in my webmap and I controlled the symbology changes by scale in the mxd. No need for extra work of programming which could produce strange results for some users.

I've run into this as well. I know you are using polygons but it would probably produce better results if you were to use lines. Crosswalks are a part of the PavementMarkingLine feature class in the Local Government Information Model.

I use my server's external ip address rather than have a domain name. Flex doesn't work well with most mobile devices as Adobe doesn't support it, at least on older devices. My phone which is about 3 or 4 years old doesn't support it.

Check your config file to make sure the urls for the basemap and operational layers are all the external url rather than your internal ones. www.mygissite.com instead of //myserver/.
