Robert, I am using the Enhanced Search Widget primarily because I wanted to use the attachment feature of it. It seems to be working okay but I wanted to ask a question. Is there a way to control what shows in the thumbnail previews in the popups of the attachments. Right now, what is happening is that you cannot make out what the picture will be until you click on it. I hope the attached screenshot explains that better than my text. This is supposed to be pictures of road surfaces, when you click on the picture the image opens up in the browser but some of these features will have upwards of 10 attachments. I'm not sure with this sort of image if it will make much difference but it seemed interesting behavior.

You know, I believe I remember this coming up several years ago. So basically, the locator is looking for a zip code or some sort of boundary. I had them in the old locator because it is the county wide locator and had City names. I have had too many issues with similar street names in other towns in the county so I thought I would like to create one for the city only and a countywide one on the side if needed. Since this new one was only a city locator, there wasn't a need to include a zone since there is essentially only one "zone" I could have read that help page a hundred times and completely missed that.

Can you give me an example address you are trying to enter? Brad Sure, 2410 E CHESTNUT AVE I have reattached the zip file that now has a streets shapefile in it that goes along with the locator. My reference data is in SDE but that doesn't seem to affect the behavior I am experiencing. Perhaps you can replicate the behavior?? At least I hope so.

I'm not understanding the problem, how can I clarify that more, no matches are being returned when I use the new address locator, see the above post.

I have moved the locator out of SDE and the issue still remains, the reference data is an SDE feature class. I experience the same behavior using this locator as a service and as the address locator directly in ArcMap. When I use the Address Inspector tool everything works fine but when I try to type an address into the geocoding toolbar nothing happens, which I interpret to mean no results. When I use the Locations tab in the Find tool, no matches are found and when I tried to geocode a list of addresses, there were no matches. I uploaded Locator package in a zip file if anyone would like to check it out.

My main frustration is that I kept hearing how much faster SDE would be and I switched and ran into all sorts of performance issues. The main reason I switched was to start using feature services but I'm still the only Desktop user. Why should the data source affect caching if the database is registered as a data store?

I haven't seen anything from esri on this. Since I compressed my SDE it seems to have improved, I cannot explain what else might have happened.

I'll try moving it back out of SDE and post if there are still issues.

As a reply to your first statement. I have chosen an Area to cache that is high traffic, the create tiles on demand is only for those areas that fall outside of this AOI. Now for the second part. All of the tiles within the AOI eventually render. And those outside do too just takes a bit longer. Your probably right about the switch to an enterprise database however, why would that affect the cache? I did just compress it just now too as well so we'll see if that helps. Fiddler doesn't show any errors but my most recent test was just fine, who knows maybe the Compress is all it needed??

I didn't make any additional changes, it's almost as if the cache didn't finish in the AOI even though the status said it did. I do have Create tiles on demand checked but that was also checked before.

I've switched back to the previous locator but even with it the performance is not as great as before. This seems like it may be a problem related to 10.2. Anyone have any insight into this?

I recently recached my basemaps and now I have having a lot of issues with poor performance. I'm using the Flex Viewer and the areas that were within the AOI seem to load more slowly that previously. Really the main thing I changed was to move my data from a file geodatabase to SDE and my AOI was a smaller area but the cache settings were unchanged. I would note that the previous cache was done in 10.1 and the new one was done in 10.2 if that makes any difference.

I wanted to change the reference data for my address locator and I discovered I had to create a brand new address locator for this to work. I did and now the new address locator which was created in sde. In the settings it says style release 10.1. I brought my old locator into the same sde and it indicates style release 10 and it works just fine however the other thing is that the reference data is from a file geodatabase rather than the sde. What is the reasoning for this? Is there a bug of some sort or am I missing something important? I noticed this when I switched address locators in the Flex Viewer and it kept saying there were no matching results.
