UGH! Now I discover that the rebuild is not doing anything. I've made changes in the reference data table and the changes aren't showing up in the Locator. I give up! I will just simply create a new locator each time.

Mine is not a composite locator. I use US Dual Range Addresses. I have no idea what is different but I tried just now to rebuild it and it did it right away after simply stopping the service (but that didn't work before). Sounds as if this is some sort of glitch or bug.

It sounds to me like you don't need to build an address locator. You want to use Esri's locator in order to geocode a list of addresses. If you do want to build your own locator you need to have reference data which depends on how you want to geocode. It could be street centerlines, landmarks, parcels etc. Basically whatever census shapefiles you are referring to.

Bruce, OK, I now understand the lox file's purpose and wont do that again but the problem happened before I removed that file and I have the same problem as Michael. There has to be a way to unlock a locator in order to rebuild it. I have also found the only way to rebuild it is to stop the ArcGIS Server windows service. When I do that I am able to rebuild and then turn it back on. Stopping my map services, also like Michael does nothing to remove the so called invisible lock. If I don't place the address locator on the shared drive I can't publish it as a service without copying it to the server.

No, not highly customized, I changed a few settings of course, but didn't, for instance, have anything for sub-addresses.

Thanks Michael. I did have a lox file in Windows Explorer. When I stopped the ArcGISServer.exe process on the server machine, the lox file didn't disappear but I was able to delete it. Then I came across what the problem actually was. It says the locator was creating using a release of ArcGIS previous to ArcGIS 9.2. Please create a new locator. I don't know how that is possible, since the last build was in May of this year and I was likely on 10.3 when I built it, but at least I was able to delete the locator so I can properly recreate it.

For some reason, I am unable to modify my address locator. It is stored locally but is run as a service. I stopped all services to no avail. I was able to successfully make a copy of the locator in the same folder but cannot delete the old one. I cannot rebuild the locator either.

That's what I thought, I really wanted one so I could create a tutorial so I guess I'll have to go back to the foldable theme since it works best for everything.

I am trying to use the Dart theme, I really like it but there is one major deficiency, how do you add links in the ArcGIS Online version? I have not yet tried the Developer version at 1.2.

The login to a secure service works fine but it is an extra step, an extra log on for my users. I would like the editor to be determined by AGOL. Seems odd to have to log in to AGOL in Collector only to have to log in again to make edits in Collector which I have to do in order to avoid the anonymous editor.

I only have two users for Desktop. I would really like AGOL to be considered the editor. Why does Esri require separate logins for AGOL to run Collector on multiple devices but does not have security enabled in Collector? I really want to be able to use the AGOL login for the Editor. Miaogeng Zhang is this a possibility perhaps in a future release? I plan to have five additional users for Collector.

I have been using ArcSDE for a while now but I am just now introducing true multiuser editing. We have been using a feature service for a while but now I need to start working with versions etc. I created a version as a test and made some edits in the version, then I ran the reconcile versions tool and checked post. The changes disappeared from the version and did not show up in Default. I tried refreshing the map several times but it didn't seem to help. I thought I had done something incorrectly. This morning I thought I would check my webmap to see if the features showed up there and sure enough they were there, all of the dummy features I created (since I did it several times). Is there typically a delay between the reconcile/post and when it appears in the Default? In normal practice you might not be expecting the edits to show up that quickly but in a test I want to make sure everything is working properly. On another similar note, I am running 10.3.1 for both Server and Desktop Standard version but the Versioning toolbar doesn't function properly, it is grayed out for reconcile and post, change versions and conflicts. Any ideas why I can't use the toolbar instead of the tools?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have a similar situation but more on the client side. The county has all of the parcel data stored in SDE and we cannot seem to come to an appropriate solution that allows us to download the data from the county for our own use. We've tried Clip & Ship, a feature service, ftp, or sending a zip file by email. None of these are working well.

It comes back with a bit different error this time: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Josh White\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.3\ArcToolbox\My Toolboxes\Download Service with Attachments.py", line 46, in <module> params = {'where': '1=1', 'returnIdsOnly': 'true', 'token': token, 'f': 'json'} NameError: name 'token' is not defined Failed to execute (DownloadService). I have another question, is the intent to do one layer at a time? If that is the case, I would need the ID number for the layer, is that correct? I've tried it both ways and the error is the same for both methods so it is catching on something else first. It appears it is still "catching" because of the secure service. I'm afraid I don't know enough python to know what I am looking at.
