Hello Rick, Did you have to manually edit that value from the default or did it change itself when you federated your ArcGIS Server site with Portal for ArcGIS? ArcGIS.com Map Text : ArcGIS Online map viewer ArcGIS.com URL : http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html -Bill

Hi Paul, I'm going through similar steps to keep separate Portal for ArcGIS site and its federated ArcGIS Server site (data store is just another enterprise geodatabase). Maps for Office, editor tracking with AD & SSO in the works with this setup too. I have SSL Web Adaptors for both ArcGIS Server and Portal on same box as Portal for ArcGIS. The ArcGIS Server site started as single cluster with multiple ArcGIS Server machines but production use proved tough to troubleshoot and maintain so we dropped it to a single machine. Having everything in Vmware allows us to scale the two machines (1-ArcGIS Server and 2-Portal for ArcGIS) as needed. Also, had the config store on its own file server to support multi-ArcGIS Server machines but this too was a sore spot that recently led to network issues corrupting some of the functionality. It is now on the same server as ArcGIS for Server with full functionality. I also tried the HA Portal for ArcGIS and got working but another sore spot for troubleshooting and dropped it back to single server to get going forward. The share with everyone option is working fine with initial Portal for ArcGIS roll out. More testing to do with secure apps/services. -Bill

If you use OSA and point the connection file to the same version any user should be good to go.

Hi Brian, You have to remote desktop to the virtual machine where the web adaptor software is installed. Then use the fully qualified name when you go through the web adaptor dialog. Also, I'm pretty sure Portal for ArcGIS requires at least a domain signed SSL. Self-signed is not allowed. And Portal only supports a single web adaptor unlike ArcGIS Server where you can setup one for SSL and one not. -Bill

Hi Brian, I would install Portal for ArcGIS on-site, federate it with your ArcGIS Server site, Web Adaptor/SSO & SSL to on-site geodatabase and have your field crews use VPN. Then you would have everything in your hands. -Bill

Hi Jay, I had some similar http to https issues which turned out to be related to a bug. BUG-000091888 : In Portal for ArcGIS 10.3.1, changes made to a web map application's URL do not persist after being saved. Here is the workaround. - Browse to the item's details page through My Content, copy the item ID from the URL. -Navigate to the ArcGIS Portal content directories using the item id. Example: C:\arcgisportal\content\items\4b3a1b1a75cb495fbcb7f983624df263\esriinfo -Open the iteminfo.xml file within the esriinfo folder for that item. -Change the URL to include https instead of http. -Go back to the portal item details in the browser. You can now change the URL to the item. The changes will stay after the iteminfo.xml file has been modified.

Nope, just making sure that the user account running the ArcGIS Server has at least read access to that folder location and it has been added to the site's data store locations. Reference:

neural network - GIS Dictionary GIS Dictionary Definitions for GIS terms related to operations such as analysis, GIS modeling and web-based GIS, cartography, and Esri software. neural network [computing] A computer architecture modeled after the human brain and designed to solve problems that human brains solve well, such as recognizing patterns and making predictions from past performance. Neural networks are composed of interconnected computer processors that calculate a number of weighted inputs to generate an output. For example, an output might be the approval or rejection of a credit application. This output would be based on several inputs, including the applicant's income, current debt, and credit history. Some of these inputs would count more than others; cumulatively, they would be compared to a threshold value that separates approvals from rejections. Neural networks "learn" to generate better outputs by adjusting the weights and thresholds applied to their inputs.
