I've got the Park & Recreation Finder application up and running. I'm working out the errors at this point. My problem is that when I click on a Park I get the following error. "Unable to complete operation." Upon digging deeper into Chrome's JS Console I see this... 0: "Error in querying feature attachments." 1: "Layer or Table with ID: 0 does not support Attachments. The popup appears to run fine with the exception that the icons for the Activities do not show up. I also can't post images to the gallery. I have also checked the table LocalGovernment.SDE.Park and tried to 'Create Table Attachments' but I get the following error: 'Failed to create table attachments. Table already exists [Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0: There is already an object named 'PARK_ATTACH' in the database.] [LocalGovernment.SDE.Park__ATTACH] But the service says it HasAttachments : false Message was edited by: Brian O'keefe

Ok. So I went back and I'm walking through the steps again. My Map URL is: http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/ParksFinder/ I've even turned on my Geometry service on our server. But I keep on getting the following error... Unable to load reference overlay layer Which, I've discovered, seems to be the Trails layer. Since I don't have the data for the GeneralPurpose.mxd nor the ImageryReferenceOverlay.mxd I am using ArcGIS options as follows... BaseMapLayers > topoMap > Topographic > http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Topo_Map/MapServer > parcelMap > Streets > http://server.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/USA_Topo_Maps/MapServer > imageMap > Imagery > http://server.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Imagery/MapServer Operational Data Settings FacilityLayer > http://t1itpappgis02:6080/arcgis/rest/services/LGDM/Parks/FeatureServer/0 CommentsLayer > http://t1itpappgis02:6080/arcgis/rest/services/LGDM/Parks/MapServer/1 ReferenceOverlayLayer > http://t1itpappgis02:6080/arcgis/rest/services/LGDM/Trails/MapServer But the error doesn't go away... I'm feeling kinda lost...

I'm getting weird errors. Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/jsdev/ParksFinder/proxy.ashx?http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Top… It 'basically' won't load the esri maps? I did like you suggested tho, I used online maps for Basemaps instead of trying to corral some sort of makeshift basemap scenario. But it seems to be hanging up only on the http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/jsdev/ParksFinder/proxy.ashx?http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Top… Any ideas?

I've got a blank LocalGovernment SDE database. Ready to go. I decided to start with the Parks and Recreation Finder for ease of shifting into LGDM. But when I downloaded this package, the MXD is already linked (with HUNDREDS of feature classes) to a LocalGovernment.gdb file? Do I have to go in, individually, and change each layers pointer to my SDE connection? Or is there some master switch that I can run that will change out the GDB for my SDE? When I say "just now importing" I mean that I just deleted my original Local Gov DB (empty, no worries) and started a fresh update with the new XML Workspace...

I'm just now importing from the XML workspace and getting some naming conflicts. CV Domain : SignCode > SignCode_2 CV Domain : LandForm > LandForm_2 CV Domain : PoleType > PoleType_2 CV Domain : BulbType > BulbType_2 CV Domain > wHydrantManufacturer > wHydrantManufacturer_2 CV Domain > ServiceRequestType > ServiceRequestType_2 CV Domain > SignalType > SignalType_2 CV Domain > SpecialEventAreaType > SpecialEventAreaType_2 CV Domain > Direction > Direction_2 CV Domain > piAlertType > piAlertType_2 CV Domain > VideoFeedType > VideoFeedType_2 CV Domain > EmergencyFacility > EmergencyFacility_2 CV Domain > SpecialEventLineType > SpecialEventLineType_2 CV Domain > SpecialEventPointType > SpecialEventPointType_2 CV Domain > ParkingSpaceLocation > ParkingSpaceLocation_2 Any idea why these would show up in RED on a brand new dump? This is a brand new Local Government Database. I'm very confused.

But it would appear that you have to create your map on ArcGIS Online and just reference it via the files stored locally? Is that correct?

What I am hoping for... and therefore I am asking... is, does the WebApp viewer build the Javascript webmap in such a way that I can go in and tweak the code behind Widget XYZ, or adjust layer data for Layers A-C, etc. from the HTML/Javascript? Kinda like the FlexViewer does (to a degree). I get the impression that what this app does is create a placeholder website that just references (almost like an iFrame) a portal map stored at ESRI online. I'm REALLY hoping that this is NOT what is going on. I have downloaded the WebApp Builder, but haven't gotten it installed yet. My GIS group doesn't consider it mission critical so it's left to when I "have time" (which so far is never). Could someone with more experience give me some feedback here? I really just want a Best Use framework to build on. I want a WebMap application stored locally with ALL of the code so that if I want to tweak a layer to flash on and off with a Javascript Timer, or I want to set the 'Enter your address' widget to display a glowing GIF as the background behind the text, that I can do these without EVER going to ArcGIS Online. I have no problem developing for a webmap system, but I am finding that unless I want a 'One-Shot Wonder' map that only uses a single Widget/Tool then I have to start from scratch and develop an entire Javascript-based WebMapping application. Which... I'm fine with. But I do not have the time for. My biggest problem with the Javascript API is that it's clunky as heck. I've been reading the Dojo documentation, the Javascript API for ArcGIS documentation, and I still don't know how to setup a library of widgets that I can reference with simple HTML/Javascript. I can write a single-use app with no problem. But creating a GUI with multiple tools that can turn on and off will require a complete development scenario. Something I don't have time for right now. Ugh.

The problem is, I want to be able to open the files and folders of a webmap and customize. Copy and paste. Modify. Much like the Flex Viewer allowed if you had Adobe Flexbuilder and MXML/Actionscript knowledge. You can't do this with this Webmap Viewer thingie... because the code for the widgets and even the map resides on ESRI's servers, not your own... even tho it's your own servers where the REST Services reside... ugh!
