I get it. In a growing mobile environment ESRI (and hopefully everyone else) wants to see development focus on tools and technology that will include more users rather than exclude. Flash/Flex has been highly restrictive in this nature. I remember reading something recently about ADOBE eventually planning on retiring the SWF as well, moving to a fully HTML5-interactive Flash/Flex environment. I get the feeling they'll try to make the IDE the same but the output is HTML5 compliant versus SWF files. *shrugs* Either way, I'm kinda relieved. I've been trying to re-learn the new Flex (been about 6 years since I last coded for Flex) and I'm just not having time. Javascript is something I have more recent experience with so now I just gotta get up to speed with Dojo. It'll be interesting either way.

So... we've tried the following... Installed and uninstalled 'Web_Adaptor_for_Microsoft_IIS_101sp1_132828.' Installed 'Web_Adaptor_for_Microsoft_IIS_101_129917' and then upgraded with 'Web_Adaptor_for_Microsoft_IIS_101sp1_132828' and uninstalled. No matter what we do, after the installation process our WebAdaptor installation will not shift into the Configuration stage. So, we decided to try the Command Line setup 'ConfigureWebAdaptor /w <WebAdaptorURL> /g <GISServerURL> /u <Username> /p <Password> /a <AdminAccessEnabled>' to see if we could get to the configuration anyway. We get the error message back 'WebAdaptorURL does not exist.' Hoping someone else has seen this and can help us figure out what has gone wrong. If not, it's time to place a ticket.

I've downloaded the Local Gov Data Model. I built the GeoDatabase. I'm interested in starting with Addressing. How do I align my existing data with this new model? Do I import from existing? Is there some new magic that links from the GeoDatabase to my live SDE data? Is there a best practice to convert the LocalGovGeoDatabase to an SDE system? Or am I asking the wrong questions...? Just trying to get started and do it right. Any help would be appreciated!

We are getting ready to install the web adaptor in order to make a select group of Flex maps available externally. The Web Adaptor configuration page says to enter the GIS Server URL and the web adaptor will "For GIS Server URL, type the URL to one of the GIS servers in your ArcGIS Server site. This URL will be used to discover all of the machines participating in your site and register them with the Web Adaptor." What if we want one set of Flex maps to be Internal ONLY and one set to be EXTERNAL? What is the configuration required to do that? It appears that if I point the Web Adaptor to my current INTERNAL ONLY GIS Server that everything I put there will be available through the adaptor? Do I have to put my EXTERNAL Flex Maps on the Web Adaptor Server? Or (as I understood it) can I just point the Web Adaptor to a folder and tell it, those apps are EXTERNAL and everything else is INTERNAL ONLY...?

I work for local City Government. Parcel data is maintained by the County Assessors. We use their Parcel data daily in a multitude of mapping applications and systems. I've been researching Parcel Fabrics for awhile now wondering whether it would be worth my time to migrate the data over to a Parcel Fabric just for some of the many benefits (historical parcels for starters). My question is this: If I take the Parcel data and migrate it into a Parcel Fabric, is there anything resembling a workflow or process to integrate future updates that are NOT from a Parcel Fabric? I had considered the following: 1) taking one version of the Parcel data and making a shapefile of it minus the attributes, just graphics. 2) convert each update into an attribute-less shapefile 3) overlay the updated parcels on the previous version 4) find the changes 5) update the Parcel Fabric in OUR system with those changes 6) Update the attributes through a Model in Model Builder via Parcel numbers But... the parcel numbers change due to Lot Splits and Combinations... Kinda at a loss, hoping someone else deals with this and has a wonderful answer for me.

We're running ArcGIS Server with Flexmaps. I'm trying to get my hands dirty with flex again and customize a widget (or create one if I have to) that will let the user type in their address, drop a dot on that address, and simultaneously popup with the Council District underneath that dot.

Alright... My webmap has a single layer, City Council Districts. That layer has a popup that displays 3 pieces of data from the layer source (Council District Number, Councilor Name, and an URL to link to the Council website for that Council District). I would like the Locate Widget to activate that popup instead of the usual returned window. Desired workflow is as follows: User opens map Locate Widget pops up User enters their address The Locate widget locates their address and drops the LOCATE red dot on top of address AND activate the pop up from the underlying layer I should add that I have Flash/Flex experience from about 6 years ago, I've spent the interim studying and working in GIS so my ActionScript / Flex dev skills are 'rusty.' Any help would be appreciated...

Well, my big question is : Does the web adaptor let me keep ALL of my maps (Internal AND External) in ONE directory on ONE server and then serve external customers through the web adaptor and internal straight through the ArcGIS Server? Or do I have to store my external flex maps on the Web Adaptor Server and internal on my ArcGIS Server?
