Hi David, Thank you, but I need to accomplish something different. I need my column to fit a height of the horizontal sidebar right content. As you can see on the screenshot, the column's style settings allow me to set only absolute height of the column in pixels. Am I missing something? PS: the padding is just for testing... Thanks, Matej

Hi Roman, this is almost a 3 years old post and the Portal technology has evolved since that time. Don't remember the exact version of Portal, but in 10.7, you can add Esri vector basemaps to your portal just by Settings (see the attachment). However, if you wish to replace a thumbnail of your portal item according the AGOL item, you can do it manually. From the item page, e.g. https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=358ec1e175ea41c3bf5c68f0da11ae2b, just save a thumbnail image to you local machine and upload that image to the item in your portal. I'm pretty sure you can automate this workflow using ArcGIS API for Python, but it depends on quantity of items, etc. Regards, Matej

Hi Patrick, I re-created the site with a new AGOL July release to check if the issue is still there and I forgotten to share the new site publicly. I can confirm that the issue with gallery is still there and the site is publicly shared again. Thank you, Matej

Hi, I am having some issues with a Gallery component, specifically, some dataset items inside a Gallery seems to have incorrect URL. Here is my sandbox Site: https://data-mato.hub.arcgis.com/ (if you open a browser console, you can see an error hitting a non-existent URL: https://opendata.arcgis.com/api/v3/datasets/737fcd6f16cc4f9db9dff13bdb232c4f_0) The first item's URL on a card (incorrect): https://data-mato.hub.arcgis.com/datasets/737fcd6f16cc4f9db9dff13bdb232c4f The second item's URL on a card (correct): https://data-mato.hub.arcgis.com/datasets/sb%C4%9Brn%C3%A9-dvory Actually, the incorrect URL is live, however, the data is not available for download on that URL (just an API access is available). Here are these two datasets as seen by the Open Data API: https://opendata.arcgis.com/api/v2/organizations/X8MyLh2EYfF6JalU/datasets (you can see that both of these dataset URLs are correct, just a Gallery component is rendering it differently). Finally, if I search these datasets on https://data-mato.hub.arcgis.com/search?collection=Dataset, both datasets are rendered with correct URLs. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks, Matej

Hi Ravi, I have followed the steps from ArcGIS Notebook Server installation guide to install Docker Desktop for Windows as you mention. Also, I haven't checked the option to use Windows containers during the installation (left the Linux containers as default). However, the Docker stopped during the startup with the following info: "No activity on VM, aborting". Then I followed the process mentioned in my first comment, to install Docker EE instead of Docker Desktop and I am stucked with the CPUPeriod issue (my second comment). This is possible to workaround using the --cpus switch (instead of --cpu-period and quota) during the container creation, but as I see there is no way to tell ArcGIS Notebook Server to make this change. Docker Desktop for Windows is only supported on Windows Desktop, not Windows Server: https://docs.docker.com/docker-for-windows/install/. So my question is, is ArcGIS Notebook Server really supported on Windows Server 2019 (as stated in system requirements)? My server is using Windows Server 2019 sitting on top of VMware layer, so yes, using nested virtualization which is not officially supported by Docker. Anyway, this is is very common these days and I am afraid that very few people will have an option to use bare metal HW next to their virtualized data centers. Maybe the nested virtualization is the cause of my Docker Desktop for Windows on Windows Server 2019 failure. However Docker EE is working just fine on the same environment using nested virtualization as well. Do you have plans to support Docker EE in the future? Thanks, Matej

I'm still stuck on this "Windows does not support CPUPeriod" thing, but I did some Docker deep dive and have this to add. C:\Program Files\Docker\docker.exe: Error response from daemon: invalid option: Windows does not support CPUPeriod. OK, so I did some search and found this: https://github.com/docker/for-linux/issues/201 https://blog.docker.com/2017/01/cpu-management-docker-1-13/ https://docs.docker.com/config/containers/resource_constraints/ It looks like since Docker >1.13, it's recommended to use --cpus instead of --cpu-period and --cpu-quota params, so let's give it a try: PS C:\> docker run -it --cpus=".5" ubuntu /bin/bash
root@d949b993a1fd:/# Wow it works, so now, how to tell ArcGIS Notebook Server to use --cpus instead of --cpu-period and --cpu-quota params during the Notebook container creation?

Hi, I'm having issues running ArcGIS Notebook Server 10.7 on Windows Server 2019 (Version 1809). Firstly, the ArcGIS Notebook Server installation guide: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/notebook/latest/install/windows/install-docker-for-arcgis-notebook-server.htm recommends to install Docker Desktop for Windows, however Docker Desktop for Windows is only supported on Windows 10. After installing Docker Desktop on Windows Server 2019 I was unable to switch Docker to use Linux containers. So I uninstalled Docker Desktop and installed Docker EE following: https://bcthomas.com/2019/02/getting-started-with-linux-containers-on-windows-server-2019/. Then I've followed the Notebook Server installation guide, importing the standard and advanced images using postInstallation utility and federating ArcGIS Notebook Server site with ArcGIS Enterprise base deployment. Now, there is another issue. Opening the Notebook web UI from the portal website I get this error: Windows does not support CPUPeriod. Do anybody have a clue how to solve this? Thanks, Matej

Hi Kristian, I'm dealing with similar issue. Using SizeVisualVariable with valueExpression on SimpleRenderer, I'm trying to render StreamLayer features based on time elapsed since Date.now(). Here you can find a small sample app: StreamLayer rendered by time I would expect that more current features are larger, then older ones, however it does not happen. There are two valeExpressions in the samle app. If you uncomment the default one and use the other one, size changes, but only after map zoom change. The only difference is in use of timestamp variable passed in createRenderer call. I need to use this pattern to let the user change the rendering using e.g. time slider UI component. What is the best practice to render features by time using visual variables and change the rendering periodically? Thanks, Matej

Create ArcGIS native apps in JS and have all the great tooling of React ecosystem. Just a few of them: React Native SDK: React Native | A framework for building native apps using React CLI: Introducing Create React Native App Expo SDK & tooling: Learn Expo | Expo v15.0.0 documentation ReactXP: A library for building cross-platform apps - ReactXP Did you know that Skype is written in React Native? Many developers are using React Native and if they need a map component, these are the options: GitHub - airbnb/react-native-maps: React Native Mapview component for iOS + Android GitHub - mapbox/react-native-mapbox-gl: A Mapbox GL react native module for creating custom maps I really do not understand why there is no React Native support for ArcGIS Runtime. This POC sounds abitious but it's inactive more then a year: GitHub - glazou/react-native-arcgis-sdk-demo: Proof of concept - Use ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android and iOS in React Nat… Maybe someday.

Hi, we use React to build widgets for WAB. You can find our reference implementation here: GitHub - arcdata/arcgis-wab-react-redux: A dev stack for developing widgets for Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS using React, R… It is not so clean as if you combine React with Esri JS API in a plain app, but it works for us. In fact, the most complicated part is to mix the immutable and stateless principles of React/Redux with mutable and stateful world of mapping APIs. Good luck. Matej

Hi, I used the following workflow (assuming you have your own portal as well as AGOL org account): 1. save esri vector basemaps as webmap items to your own AGOL org account. Here is a list of all esri vector basemaps: http://www.arcgis.com/home/search.html?q=owner%3A%20esri_vector&t=content&focus=maps 2. use https://ago-assistant.esri.com/ to copy saved webmaps from your AGOL org account to your portal 3. share these webmaps as basemaps in your portal Matej

Hi, Following the Spatiotemporal BDS tutorial, after creating the BDS output, the map service is not accessible. The GeoEvent Manager is showing just feature service: The ArcGIS Server Manager is showing both services (map and feature): However trying to access the map service gives the "Service not found" error. The feature service is working just fine. Tested on 10.4.1 with single machine deployment (also relational and tileCache datastore installed). Any ideas? Thanks, Matej

Hi Yiwei, Thank you for clearing that up. I am really happy to hear that you are going to build a CSS framework for WAB. This is very important, especially as the WAB UI is mixed from many different components (Dojo Dijits, Esri Dijits, WAB Dijits, Custom Dijits). Is this CSS framework on the roadmap for WAB (I didn't hear a word of it yet), or is it your personal side project? Are you going to build it from scratch, or based on any other framework (e.g. Calcite)? Thanks, Matej
