Hi Chris, Out on interest are there any services returning error messages on server relating to "Thumbnail is not available" or Iteminfo is not available"? I've had a similar problem error message when trying to create a hosted layer view not sure if is related to yours though. Thanks, Clinton

Hi all, I'm trying to use the Python API via a notebook in ArcGIS Pro 2.5.0 to create offline map areas. I could do this in the web map directly by drawing in the polygons manually in the manage areas tab however I have around 30 to do and want a way to automate the process to allow for future updates. I've been following these instructions Managing offline map areas | ArcGIS for Developers However I'm getting the following error: I've tried using a bookmark , polygon coordinates and extent. I've also tried using lat longs and projected web mercator aux sphere coordinates. They all result in the same error as above name 'Envelope' is not defined. This issue seems very similar to the following threads that haven't been answered: Error when trying to generate offline areas How to create offline_areas using extent Below is screen dump of note book. Is this a known bug or am I missing something fundamental here ? Any help appreciated. Thanks Clinton

Hi, I'm working through implementing ESRI's ArcGIS security implementation guidelines for ArcGIS Enterprise . ArcGIS Enterprise implementation guidance—ArcGIS Trust Center | Documentation I note that one of the recommendations is to use an ArcGIS Online print service instead of the ArcGIS Server print service for publicly facing applications. I found the the following print service http://utility.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/Utilities/PrintingTools/GPServer/Export%20Web%20Map%20Task However, I as far as I'm aware I can't create and use custom Print Templates with this ArcGIS online print service. Therefore, I cant use the ArcGIS online solution and need to use a print service from my ArcGIS server. The documentation above suggests that if you want to use a custom print service on an ArcGIS server then the Server itself should be in the DMZ. My enterprise configuration has the ArcGIS Server that hosts the print service behind a corporate firewall with a webadaptor in the DMZ. If all traffic is being routed through the webadaptor is this still a security risk? If not and ESRI are going to recommending using an ArcGIS Online Print service then you should be able to create custom print templates? Thanks Clinton

Hi Rachel, The site were trying to get active directory working with is only available on our internal network using the following url https://gissandbox.npdc.govt.nz/arcgis I've checked my trusted sites in Internet explorer and we have a wild card entry for *.npdc.govt.nz I also checked my User Authentication and it is set to Automatic logon with current user name and password With I.E. and Chrome and Firefox (anonymous Disabled and Windows Authentication Enabled) the browser is still returning the following URL https://gissandbox.npdc.govt.nz/arcgis/sharing/rest/oauth2/authorize?client_id=arcgisonline&display=default&response_type=token&state=%7B%22returnUrl%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fgissandbox.npdc.govt.nz%2Farcgis%2Fhome%2F%22%2C%22useLandingPage%22%3Afalse%7D&expiration=20160&locale=en&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fgissandbox.npdc.govt.nz%2Farcgis%2Fhome%2Faccountswitcher-callback.html&force_login=false&hideCancel=true&showSignupOption=true If I re-enable anonymous access along with Window Authentication I can login at the prompt using my active directory credentials I then appear to be logged in with my active directory account however this isn't sign sign on. Hi all, I'm trying to create a single sign on experience for my Portal 10.7.1 users using web tier authentification. I've updated the Portal Security Configuration with the required AD parameters in json format as per the documentation. I can successfully test the identity store and the connection is returned as successful. I've create an active directory user in the Portal and tested logging in using the AD account before enabling window authentification. I then go to the iis server manager and select the portal webadaptor 'arcgis' and Disable Anonymous Authentification and Enable Window Authentification. I believe I should now be logged in automatically into the Portal and that IIS should handling the authentification? However when I go to the portal URL i'm challenged for credentials and it appears that Portal requires a token to login? This isn't what I was expecting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Clinton

Hi, I'm trying to create a Web App that uses a Hosted Feature Layer view. I can successfully create the Hosted Feature Layer View in Portal 10.7.1 and preview (figure 1 below) (Figure 1: Hosted Feature Layerview) I can successfully add the Hosted Feature Layer View to a webmap (figure 2 below) (Figure 2: Hosted Feature Layer View in Web Map However when I use Web App builder to create an app using the web map above the hosted feature layer view symbology doesn't draw (figure 3). If I open the attribute table there are features present and I can zoom to the location of each feature and expose the popup (figure 4). (Figure 3: Hosted Feature Layer View Symbology not drawing in Web App Builder) (Figure 4: Hosted Feature Layer View features visible in attribute table and with popup) Is this a known issue ? or having I missed something fundamental in how to use hosted feature layer views ?? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Clinton

Hi all, I managed to resolve this issue. It looks like something in the thumbnail process was trying to access the service infoitems (where the thumbnails are stored) for our basemap map layers. For some reason access to the infoitems was being blocked. I ended up rebuilding our basemap webmaps checking that the infoitem was avaliable for each layer. No more "The item you requested cannot be found. The items may have been deleted or you may have entered an incorrect url" errors. Thanks, Clinton

Hi, I'm having issues with thumbnails not being created in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1. When I try to create a hosted layer view I get the following error "The item you requested cannot be found. The items may have been deleted or you may have entered an incorrect url" The thumbnail preview is also blank as per the Figure 2 below. It seems that the existing thumbnail from the source layer (Figure 1) isn't being carried over to the hosted view or a new thumbnail can't be created for some reason. I also get the same error if I try and publish a hosted feature layer from pro without specifically creating a thumbnail prior to publishing. The error stops being generated as soon as I add a thumbnail image or make a change and save the layer. It appears to that saving automatically re generates a thumbnail. (Figure 1 Source Hosted layer) (Figure 2: Hosted Layer View) In the chrome dev tools I'm getting the following message: I saw the following in the help documentation Thumbnails for newly created web maps are not generated or do not display correctly. You may encounter this problem if your web maps contain ArcGIS Server services that use HTTPS. If this is the case, check if the portal is configured with a print utility service from an ArcGIS Server site. The print service may be running on a machine that does not trust Certificate Authority (CA) signed certificates from the ArcGIS Server site providing the HTTPS services. Each machine running the print service will need to be configured to trust these CA certificates at the operating system level. See Enable HTTPS using a new CA-signed certificate for details on how to do this. I'm using self signed certificates on my portal, server and datastore with a externally signed certificate on the webadaptor. I'm wondering if I need to get CA certificates add to the Portal, Server and Datastore? My print services works as expected in terms of generating pdfs etc. Are thumbnails also generated from the same print service? Thanks Clinton

Hi, I had a similar issue after upgrading to 10.6.1. I believe this error is related to ssl 3.0 security. To resolve this I had to update a setting in internet explorer on my hosting ArcGIS Server. You need to login to the ArcGIS server using the domain account. In internet explorer go into internet options, then click the advanced tab scroll down to security and check the ssl 3.0 box and apply. You should now be able to publish your 3d scenes. Hopefully this resolves your issues. Thanks, Clinton

Hi, ESRI can we please make this a priority. I try not to promote the use of shapefile as a File geodatabases are far superior. It seems that most organisations will want the downloads to come from their AGS service rather than having to host the layer on AGOL. This is especially true for data that is consistently changing. We could script an upload process however this is more overhead for us. Thanks, Clinton

Hi Thomas Jones I've done a little more research on this error and I found the following in Chrome Dev tools {"error":{"code":400,"messageCode":"CONT_0001","message":"Item does not exist or is inaccessible.","details":[]}} This error is similar to the main error (below) I've found that I can resolve these errors by going into the visualizaton tab of the hosted layer view and changing the symbology of the view then saving the layer. If I then click on any of the other tabs e.g. settings or overview I'm prompted with save changes. I can click either yes or no - the error messages above are no longer returned. Its really weird that changing symbology fixes this? Our local vendor is unable to replicate the error in their 10.6.1 environment. Thanks, Clinton

Hi, We have 3 web adaptors on the same server in the DMZ. The first for our Portal (named 'arcgis' as per default however, if I was to do a fresh install I would probably name it portal as this is more intuitive) . The second is for our hosting ArcGIS Server (named 'server') and the third is for and ArcGIS Server with an imagery role (named 'imagery'). Hope this helps. Thanks Clinton
