Yes, unfortunately it is not an option to have it download directly to your local device. It is saved in your content as the desired export format. Once it is exported, go to that item and click the download button from there. Once it's downloaded to your device, then you can delete from your content in your Portal if desired.

As I mentioned in a previous post where we communicated, is there a reason why you can't just copy and paste the link in your response so that I can just click on it? It's much easier than sharing through a screenshot...

Based on your screenshot, the map is not offline capable. There is likely a layer within the web map that does not meet the offline capable criteria. I would start with this reference: Prepare maps for offline use—Collector for ArcGIS (Classic) | ArcGIS If everything in the map is configured correctly for offline use, you will see this option appear in the Settings tab of the Item Details page: Also, from this page: Problem: Collector for ArcGIS does not display web maps created in Portal for ArcGIS "To view or edit a web map in Collector for ArcGIS, the map owner must add and save at least one editable feature service to the map." Make sure the map meets this criteria as well.

If you only want to export a particular layer from the service, you can use the "Export To" option under the layer name:

I like that idea! I do agree that all the details of permissions, roles, user types etc can be really confusing at first!

Kory Kramer, in your last screenshot/animation, that allows you to manually change the word that's displayed, but in this case it seems that isn't helpful because now "Sparse" is associated with values close to 1.00, and "Dense" for values close to 0.00 Is there a way to flip the entire thing? I looked into it and couldn't find any other options or features besides the ones you describe...

I would think the best way to go about doing this is to write a script that would calculate the field to "not complete" (or whatever the domain value is) and then schedule this to run on a weekly basis using something like Windows Task Scheduler.

If the map and the layers in it are shared publicly, then it can be edited by anyone. The recommended workflow is to create a hosted feature layer view of the layer to be used in the public map that does not have editing enabled. For those people that need to make edits, create an additional web map that is only shared internally that contains the hosted feature layer that has editing enabled (but is not shared publicly). See "Is the Item an Editable Hosted Feature Layer" in this Esri help page: Best practices for sharing—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation There is a ton of documentation that Esri has provided for ArcGIS Online workflows and best practices, I highly recommend reading through it to see what other information you can glean from it.

As far as I know, this cannot be done in the map viewer directly. You can share the map as a web application and use the "Analysis" widget, which has export functionalities, or access the layers Item Details page using the Table of Contents in the web map (see screenshot). From there, you can download the layer as various file types (fgdb, shapefile, etc).

Ah, yes you are right. I only tried the short link before. When I typed in the long URL shown in your screenshot, it asked me to login. However, when following the short link from your screenshot (http://arcg.is/0COfnf), the browser populates with the following URL: https://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=725bf1a6ec594a619c2268444f56de62 Notice how this is different from the long URL in your other screenshot, which is: http://k241.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer/html?webmap=725bf1a6ec594a619c2268444f56de62 The link that asks for a login starts with "k241.maps" so it seems like it is wanting to link directly to within your organization (I think that's what's going on, anyway). The link that works just starts with "arcgis.com..." As a side note: I highly recommend sharing your links directly through text like I just did, rather than through screenshots. (that relates to your other post regarding sharing web maps)

It seems like you're confusing "User Type" vs. "Role". In the screenshot you posted, you're still trying to assign the user a User Type of "GIS Professional Advanced" with a Role of Viewer. This won't work because you only have one available. Changing the User Type to viewer should fix your issue. For reference, here is a link to Esri's page on User Types, Roles, and Privileges: User types, roles, and privileges—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation

Following the URL in your screenshot, I was able to view the map without needing to sign in. I recommend trying to open the map in an Incognito Window in Chrome (or similar in a different browser) to see if the problem persists.
