Hmm, I feel like this has been the behavior for a while now at least (or always was?) I remember being frustrated with this same thing a while ago, but unfortunately I couldn't tell you exactly how far back it was. If there is a way to do it (i.e. like how it works in ArcGIS Pro), I'd love to know!

Hi @EmilyGeo , your explanation makes sense, but what would be the intended difference in this workflow vs. publishing HFL views from the source data? Based on your explanation, they sound essentially the same to me?

If the layers don't have globalIDs, it sounds like sync probably isn't enabled on the layer, which is required for offline capabilities.

@MatthijsAlberts it's a little reassuring at least to hear that someone else experienced the same behavior. I still feel pretty confident it's a bug somewhere on Esri's side, but like I said, my specific support case couldn't go anywhere because we couldn't reproduce the results on other machines. If you end up hearing more about a specific bug number, please let us know!

@Adrian I worked with Esri support but unfortunately, I couldn't get the behavior to replicate on anyone else's machine so the case has been dismissed. I looked at trace files from my dev console and could tell that it was basically getting into an infinite loop with the zoom extents since I had multiple maps, all with their extents tied to each other (this was an important UI request, to have all map views synced at all times). And like I said, it worked fine before the update so it's not an unreasonable functionality to configure. I'm absolutely baffled why it wouldn't replicate on other machines though, most of which were much lower spec than my work machine. I did driver updates, restarts, clearing caches, etc. My IT department was stumped as well, given the specs of my machine.

@DougBrowning Same disclaimer about working with Claude, but I added an ExB section and also added more to the Field Maps section from that Community board. I also added in a few bug numbers that have been assigned as a result of all this, but that was manual work (not Claude) so I'm sure I'm missing some. The list is gettin' long.....

Update: I made my own post here Side note, I did find it humorous that I received this automated email today, it could just be a coincidence since these type of marketing emails come out all the time, but I suspect they are getting flooded with support cases and really working overtime to correct their mess (as they should...)

After the June 2026 ArcGIS Online update, dashboards that we have built that include Category selectors with multiple zoom targets under Actions cause the dashboard to crash after making a selection. Additional Details: - The offending widget(s) are Category Selectors, with categories from Grouped Values - Under Actions, When selection changes, it is set to Filter 24 targets, and Zoom to 3 targets (the zoom to multiple targets is what's now causing it to break). See screenshot below. - The dashboard uses stacked groups for a "multi-page" look, which is why there are so many filter targets and 3 different web maps (one on each "page") - All of this worked beautifully before the June 2026 update! - Yes, I could remove the Zoom action as a workaround since the Category selector seems to function without it, but that doesn't seem like an acceptable long-term solution, given it's not an unreasonable ask and it worked fine before the update. I will create a support ticket and reference this post, but hoping this improves visibility and others can share if they are experiencing similar behaviors.

Yes! Category selectors in which I have multiple zoom targets set (three different maps) that worked fine before the update now cause my dashboard to crash. Very infuriating how unstable this latest update has been, it's broken some other apps we have as well, and these are actively used by our clients. I did something like this with ArcGIS Notebooks, I used admin usage reports and filtered for arcgisprodesktop. Once you get this you can do fancy print statements to print a report in the notebook or export as a CSV in the Notebook's workspace. These are the key lines for getting the report info. # Generate a report for applications report = agol.admin.usage_reports.applications(time_frame = "90days") # Filter for ArcGIS Pro usage arcgispro_report = [entry for entry in report["data"] if entry["appId"] == "arcgisprodesktop"] I didn't have a need to search for extensions but there is likely a similar functionality out there for that.
