There are a number of useful pre-defined periods available in the date selectors for Operations Dashboard. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/operations-dashboard/help/date-based-filter-conditions.htm It would be useful if we could have some more granular predefined periods to help with analysis of incidents as they happen throughout the day. A couple of simple additions could be an am/pm split but I'd also like to be able to provide a selector for each hour or group of hours within the day. For example our call centre is open from 08:00 to 18:00 so I'd like to be able to provide a selector for time slices such as 00:00-08:00 i.e. before call centre is open, 08:00-09:00, 09:00-10:00 etc up to 17:00-18:00 and then 18:00-00:00. I don't think there is a way to do this currently using the available date selector options (though happy to be told otherwise). What I can do is provide selectors that are anchored to now i.e. within last hour, within last 1-2 hours, within last 2-3 hours etc, which is also useful but not quite what I'm after.

For info it looks like this has been fixed in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 (or possibly even in an earlier version) so presumably is also working correctly in AGOL.

Offer the ability in Operations Dashboard to dynamically aggregate a point layer (e.g. currently open incidents) by a polygon layer (e.g. operational divisions). This could be very useful in a control room situation to quickly assess which areas have the most issues and where to focus attention. It could work similarly to the Info Summary widget in WAB which updates as the map extent changes. I suppose this could be done if a polygon identifier was already an attribute of the point but that would need to get written into the point layer each time a new record is inserted. Plus you'd have to have an attribute for each polygon geography that you wanted to aggregate by. If it was done dynamically then it would be easy to aggregate by multiple geometries e.g. a summary at operational division level and then another summary at sub-division level.

We've been using the workaround suggested by Justin above with good results. We're planning an upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 soon so will see whether we can get the update definition to work afterwards.

Is it or will it be possible in the future to replace the default home page with an ArcGIS Enterprise Site hosted on the same Portal? Are there any security considerations that would need to be addressed? In our case we use ADFS to log people in automatically when they visit our current home page so this might need reconfiguring perhaps? Or would it just be better to have a fairly prominent link on the Portal home page to direct users to the Site? Would be keen to hear how others have directed people towards their Sites/Pages. Many thanks Gareth

If I have a point layer showing assets and a related table in the same service which contains inspections on those assets I would like to be able to use the inspections table to drive the map in a dashboard. From what I can tell the current functionality allows me to use the related table in a dashboard list to filter the dashboard map via a common reference field. This works fine if the map happens to be zoomed to the extent of the filtered features but is less useful if the filtered feature is outside the current extent. I can see two ways of dealing with this: Enhance the filtering action to include the option to zoom the map to the extent of the filtered features Provide an action for the list that uses attribute fields to specify the coordinates that the map should be zoomed to. This could be useful in scenarios where there is no relationship defined between the table and layers on the map.

I've got a couple of questions about how user credentials are stored within the Explorer app. 1. Is the method of how these are stored documented anywhere (for both Android and iOS)? It's a pre-emptive question in case our IT security people ask. I'm sure they are secure but if we can say it uses a particular industry standard for storing these then that would be useful. 2. Our IT security policy forces us to update our password every 90 days. From what I've seen with a couple of Explorer users when their password has changed (and is therefore different from the one saved within the app) the app still loads up but they don't see any maps available to them. There doesn't seem to be any message to the user to say that their saved password is incorrect (although it's possible that they did get a message but didn't tell me). We managed to resolve it by getting them to log out and log back in again with their new password but it might be useful if they were just automatically logged out if their password is now incorrect rather than letting them get into the app and thinking that there is a fault with the Portal because it's not displaying maps. Any thoughts on this? Thanks Gareth

For what it's worth I get the same error message when trying to log in to Explorer on iOS if the portalURL key value is set via Microsoft Intune. It's as if it is trying to log in before I've given it any credentials so perhaps not unexpectedly it fails.

I have a web map hosted in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 which uses the British National Grid coordinate system for base maps and layers. If I open the map in Explorer for ArcGIS (both on iOS and Android) and long press to drop a pin at a location, then the coordinates that are returned are in longitude/latitude rather than in British National Grid. Is there some way to force it to use the coordinate system of the web map or does this need to be submitted as an idea for consideration? Thanks Gareth

This seems to be a function of how long the words are that you're entering in the indicator e.g. operating licence is a lot smaller than safety. Definitely find this frustrating as it also messes up the alignment across different indicator boxes. Would also be good if you could specify the sizes of the indicators in percentage terms rather than having to drag them manually to try and get them the same size.

This would definitely be useful functionality. In our case we would want automatically registered users to be given membership of a number of different groups that contain various data layers. The groups would then be available to them on the Add Data button within the web map viewer to help make browsing of data easier. I guess it's something that might be possible with the new webhooks functionality that is available in 10.7?

I've just had a user report similar experience on a new Motorola G6 work phone. Not able to navigate any apps built with WAB on ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6. We have Microsoft Intune enabled and the same thing happens in the work browser, plus the work and personal versions of Chrome. Did anybody ever get a resolution for this?

Has anybody had any success getting this to work in a Portal 10.6 environment? I've got a simple hosted feature service layer for which I want to add an extra value into the domain on one of the fields. I've used the second method above to get the json for the part I want to update and have posted via the update definition page for the layer. I get a message back saying success is true but the change doesn't seem to have come through to the layer itself. My JSON update is simply adding an extra year (2020) to the domain: { { "fields": [ { "name": "audit_year", "alias": "AUDIT_YEAR", "domain": { "type": "codedValue", "name": "Year2", "description": "Year", "codedValues": [ { "name": "2017", "code": 2017 }, { "name": "2018", "code": 2018 }, { "name": "2019", "code": 2019 }, { "name": "2020", "code": 2020 } ] } } ] } } I'd prefer not to go back and have to republish my service if at all possible. Would be good to see this functionality added to the standard user interface in Portal as is now available in AGOL. Thanks Gareth
