Hi Adam No, I bought a SIM free S4 so no service provider trickery in the software (well, apart from Samsung's touchwiz...). I'm on giffgaff/O2 at the moment by the way. Hope that helps.

Scott, I would also love to know when we can start loading vector tile packages to Collector (for starter) as we can do with tile packages. Talking to support at Esri UK yesterday I was told that this is not in the pipeline apparently, although would love to hear Esri Inc's comment on the subject. We have quite a lot of projects where we could make use of the vtpk files instead of uploading background OS MasterMap Topography/ITN/etc. layers to AGOL first and then download to the devices. Very time consuming and counter-productive... Zoltan

Hi Adam, Glad to hear that others have the same problem as I do, so it's not my settings/phone only. I suspect it must have something to do with how the app interacts with the camera API, since Survey123 or the green app has no problems with taking photos. Maybe Ismael Chivite or Marika Vertzonis can shed some lights on it?

I tested it on a Nexus 5 (with Android 6) and had no problems with saving the taken photos as an attachment. It's still a bit strange that the same function works in the green app, but not in collector on my S4...

I noticed with the latest release of Collector (10.3.7 Build 1018) that I cannot attach photos taken with my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S4, Android 5.0.1). If I select an image from my gallery, it works OK. If I try to take a photo with the camera it lets me, but as soon as I hit the 'Save' button for the attachment, it goes back to the main screen with an empty map list and pops up an error: "Unable to load the map. Please try again" I cannot do anything until I close the app and re-start it. Obviously the new feature with the photo is lost. I have an attachment enabled feature service in AGOL, also enabled for editing (as I said I can add images from the gallery and then sync without problems). I have created a number of other services (published from ArcMap 10.3.1) to see if that's the issue but the error still occurs. Phone has been rebooted, checked for free space on phone (1.3 GB should be enough). Tried to change the camera resolution - no effect at all. Same feature services work OK in the ArcGIS (aka green) app, I can take photos with my camera, save and sync without problems. Hence I don't think it's caused by the feature service or the phone... Has anyone experienced this issue or am I doing something wrong (doubt it since the same service work ok in the green app)? Is there a way to resolve this? Thanks in advance. Zoltan

I was wondering if there was a way to get the orientation (portrait, landscape) of the photos taken honoured in Survey123. Regardless of me taking photos in portrait mode, they are always saved and uploaded in landscape mode - same as with Collector. (I guess this is because the photo's exif data is ignored.) This could result in a significant amount of extra time by manually rotating the images after they were extracted, not to mention that they are displayed rotated in a webmap too. Any chance that there is a workaround for this or some improvements in the pipeline to overcome this? Cheers, Zoltan

Just found out that I was wrong about mosaic datasets. "A mosaic dataset manages its raster data in the same way as an unmanaged raster catalog; therefore, the tables will be similar, datasets will be indexed, and queries can be performed on the collections." (Source: Desktop Help) That explains it why it tries to access the original tiles used for loading... That raises another question: How do we overcome that if the original path no longer exists/changed? EDIT: It seems I can use the Repair... (and Synchronize Mosaic Dataset) tool for this. I tried it, re-run Statistics and Overview and that repaired the mosaic and it now displays fine in Pro too. Lesson learnt the hard way: mosaics work like unmanaged raster catalogs. Zoltan

Hi Brandon, Running statistics in Po did not make any change to the mosaic, whereas the Build Overview tool keeps crashing the application at about 5% into the process. I re-ran these tools in ArcMap too. Calculate Statistics finished OK. Build Overviews finished with some warnings, but the image looks nothing like the original: So I did some more tests and it seems that although the mosaic displays OK in ArcMap, it still references to the original images somehow when trying to build the overviews. I can see the old path to the tiles that does not exist anymore being called during geoprocessing. Is that normal? I'm a bit baffled by this, because I always thought a mosaic stores the image physically in a blob field for any further processing. (And only unmanaged raster catalogs reference to the image by its path.) If that's true, trying to access the path that has been used for loading the tiles in the first place makes no sense to me. I attached the geoprocessing results of the old mosaic from ArcMap in case you want to have a look... On the other hand, when I create a new mosaic and load the tiles from another folder, run Statistics and Overview, they display OK in Pro. Zoltan

Hi Brandon, Although I do have a raster catalog in that GDB, it does not even display under the database connection in Pro since it's an supported format. The one I'm having an issue with in Pro is a mosaic dataset, see screenshot below. Happy to send the data to inspect if you want to. I'll try the Statistics and Overview part tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks. Zoltan

I started exploring ArcGIS Pro (v1.2) recently and found that mosaic datasets created in ArcGIS Desktop (10.3.1) do not display correctly in Pro. Furthermore, it makes them corrupt so they cannot be used in Desktop afterwards. I have attached a short video showing that it works fine in ArcMap, then how it's displayed in Pro. (Raster datasets work OK as it can be seen in the video.) I added the same data to ArcMap again after it's been 'displayed' in Pro and experiencing the same issue with it now. It seems ArcGIS Pro makes mosaics created in ArcGIS Desktop corrupt. Has anyone experienced the same by any chance? Zoltan

Timothy, I'm glad to hear that you managed to get it working. It's very picky when it comes to descriptions, title and data frame name...

Is it a specific survey under which you cannot select the tile package? Or is it the same for all? I would also double check that the package is correct by opening it in ArcMap - I can see from the screenshot that it was created in ArcGIS Pro... (You can also test the package in Collector if you have it.) Hope that helps.
