Thank you Ismael, I really appreciate the efforts to get this fixed. Although it is not a deal breaker for us at the moment, I'm sure the capability will crop up in a project sooner than later. Happy to assist as much as I can, please feel free to get in touch.

Hopefully Ismael Chivite will be able to shed some lights on this issue as I'm experiencing the same (using ArcGIS 10.3). Creating a tpk using the Create Map Tile Package tool with the default ArcGIS Online scheme and levels works fine and the tpk displays OK in survey123. On the other hand, when using tools from the Tile Package toolset with a custom tiling scheme xml to have more zoom levels, the tpks are NOT displayed in survey123 - they are not even on the basemap list in the app. The same tpk files display OK in Collector though. When using the Create Map Tile Package tool and point it to the custom xml scheme, the tpk is displayed in survey123, but the location is wrong (in the Atlantic Ocean, south west of Namibia instead of Barking, London). The same tpk displays at the correct location in Collector. (Happy to send the xml tiling scheme and sample tpk files.) We recently started using survey123 for production work and will need to deploy tpk files for offline use with zoom levels more than 20 available with the built-in option. Any pointers on what's different in survey123 and how to overcome this problem? Thanks in advance.

Download a compatible app to your table from here: http://doc.arcgis.com/en/survey123/download/ Once installed, open the app and sign in to your organisational AGO account and download the survey you want to use. Video: https://survey123.arcgis.com/videos/ > Working with Survey123 for ArcGIS > Collecting Data with the Survey123 App I hope this helps.

Thanks Ismael. I'll have a look at it later on. Update: I tested it and it now honours the value when I overwrite the geopoint calculation. On the other hand, have you changed the way to get the location co-ordinates? Before the update a simple calculation - ${location} - in a note field for example resolved the co-ordinates. Now it does not work at all, nothing is displayed. (Even if it's just a simple geopoint question without any calculation on it.) I tried it in a new survey created from a template in Survey Connect 1.7 , and the issue is the same. I had a look at the documentation, but couldn't find any updates on this part. Any ideas? You need an organisation AGOL account since the public (free) account does not allow you to create feature services or connect to a FS published on your ArcGIS server. (Desktop licences come with a nominated AGOL account with 200 credits. Don't confuse them with the public account. Link.)

Eduardo I couldn't find any XLSForm operators to do this reliably, I think this needs to be done during post-processing. Lat/Long coordinates can vary in length depending on the location: (There won't be a general setup with functions/operators since the values are variables as you mentioned and their length vary. There might be setups that work locally on a project though.) You could split the location string and use left/right/mid/find functions to extract the data, but a simple calculate geometry in ArcMap using the Shape field would be easier I guess... I hope this helps. Zoltan

I presume you're using the latest, 10.2.3 version. The behaviour described above is possible I guess, but the GPS receiver won't connect automatically by default if I remember right. You need to enable it manually to start using the positional information from it. (I don't know whether it's a heavily customised version of ArcPad, so it's hard to suggest troubleshooting tips.) If you have all the standard toolbars (Main, Browse, Navigation, etc) in ArcPad available, you should be able to disable the GPS receiver to see if it makes a difference. You will then be able to have a look at the receiver settings too. You can also try to disable the GPS chip in the laptop/device under Location services I think. Also might be worth having a look at the behaviour when using a brand new ArcPad document to see if the issue can be reproduced. I'd also check if there is an update available for the location sensor/Windows Location API. I hope this helps.

Very strange. I assume these devices are touch-enabled which could explain the random zooming and layer flashing. Although I have never experienced anything like this, a buggy touchscreen driver would explain these sort of issues... (This could be tested quickly by disabling the touch interface/driver in Device manager.) If they are non-touch devices, then it is a real mystery...

Heather It would probably be worth sending an email to Esri asking about Windows 8 embedded to be sure. As for the performance, 8GB should be plenty for ArcPad but it also depends on what other apps and processes are running in the background. I'd also look into what kind of data the users are pulling into ArcPad and from where. Data from network/Internet/usb drive/etc can have an effect on performance as well as large raster tiles and heaps of layers with large spatial extent and millions of features. I hope this helps.

Probably there won't be any built-in NTRIP functionality anytime soon. Using corrections via NTRIP for Trimble devices was part of the GPScorrect extension for ArcPad. In ArcGIS for Mobile you may have something similar to it in the Trimble Positions Mobile Extension by the quick look of it. There seems to be a toolkit too, so you might be able to integrate the needed functionality using it with the SDK for ArcGIS for Mobile. Your other option is if receiving NTRIP corrections is supported by your GPS receiver's firmware, so there won't be any need for a 3rd party NTRIP client. Usually these are survey-grade level receivers but you may have the functionality in the upper echelon of MGIS receivers. (It was a while ago I worked with them but the Geocollector series never had functionality like that.) It's probably best to contact your local Trimble distributor, they should be able to provide you with more information on what your options are.

Hi Nathan The workflow is fairly similar, although you need to retrieve the content in a different way, since there are restircitions on iOS devices. 1. Using iTunes: Click on Apps and browse to the bottom of the screen where there is a list of your installed apps which content you can manage from iTunes. Select 'Collector' to see the documents list and then click on the folder with the AGOL username you want to save/backup. Select 'Save' to copy that folder to your PC. Depending on the size of the folder (attachments, etc), it might take a while to copy. 2. Use a 3rd party app like iExplorer, iFunBox, etc to get access to the file system and only grab the folder/data you need. Hope this helps.

Nathan You can find the collected offline data in the ../ArcGIS_Collector/offline_data/ folder on your Android phone. If you have only one survey downloaded for offline use to the device, it's easy to find the subfolder as there will only be one. Project folders are named with a unique id (not sure, but this might be the replica ID generated by the API) instead of a readable name. When you found the project folder in question, there will be a number of runtime GDB files with the extension of ".geodatabase" (depending on the number of FS used). Simply copy the whole folder to back it up (the process should be similar on iOS). You can turn the runtime GDBs in to file GDBs by using the 'Copy Runtime Geodatabase to File Geodatabase' tool in ArcGIS (at least in 10.3). (Alternative workflow here.) I hope this helps. Zoltan

Part of our consultancy work, we provide our clients with ready to use Collector apps. Most of them require some general reporting that can be done by pulling the survey data and photos and feed them into data driven pages. For some of the more complex reports we tend to use FME and/or Python scripts. Tableau can be connected/integrated with ArcGIS, so it can give you more options for data mining and reporting. Not sure about how it handles attachments though...
