Is the elevation of that area negative or below the surface elevation?

Hey Ben, Wes and Gabriel are spot on, either save each layer in the map as a layer file (.lyr) or save the whole map as a map package file (.mpk). I would personally go with Gabriel's suggestion for the map package, it wraps everything up including the data and symbology into one file for sending. Just ask you client what version of Esri they are in and ensure it can open the map package file first. Good luck!

Hi Chaya, I just read this from the Esri Open Data Help and it appears Open Data only supports a limited number of file formats. It doesn't specifically say that Web Apps are not supported but it also doesn't say that they are supported. I'm thinking they are not supported since the list of support file formats is so small. Hope this helps and good luck! The following data types are supported in ArcGIS Open Data: Hosted feature services ArcGIS for Server feature services ArcGIS for Server map services Image services CSVs

Jonathan, thanks for the tip. I did exactly what you suggested and was able to identify that Portal was searching for a thumbnail image that no longer existed. We installed Portal 10.3 then upgraded to 10.3.1 and in the upgrade process the call for the images had changed but the images had not. Must have been a slight glitch in the updgrade process. Anyhow Esri Support was able to provide the updated images and correct location to place them. Below are the three thumbnails that changed for us and needed to be updated. If anyone runs into this problem Esri Support is very good resource for the correct image type, names, and locations. Thumbnail Type and Name Changes imagery_labels.jpg (10.3) tempimagery_with_labels_ne_usa.png (10.3.1) terrain_labels.jpg (10.3) tempTerrain_with_labels_ne_usa.png (10.3.1) light_gray_canvas.jpg (10.3) templight_gray_canvas_with_labels__ne_usa.png (10.3.1)

FYI Esri has logged this issue as a Bug. They identified that other users have reported it and have an application team trying to resolve it. BUG-000087735: An HTTP 404 error is returned when creating an application from Portal for ArcGIS 10.3.1 My Content page using a template.

Update. Esri Support help me to test the correct URL that Collector hits when searching for address. It actually hits "Find" as opposed to the "Geocode Address" or "Find Address Candidates" which are both accessible as Supported Operations links from the geocoding service. Below is a example URL with find tagged on to the end. This URL needs to be tested successfully from the desktop and from the mobile device web browser. https://servername/arcgis/rest/services/LocatorName/GeocodeServer/find I was able to test this URL for our geocoder on both the desktop and mobile device, however Collector was still returning No Results Found. As an additional test I logged out of Collector and logged in with my full user name (ben.grod@companydomain.com). The geocoding service then correctly returned results in Collector. Before I was logging in with just my user (ben.grod), we are still trying to determine if it was the user name or something else but in the mean time things are working.

Okay, I did some more testing. Not search I am doing exactly what you asked but I tested the rest endpoint "Find Address Candidates" from the iPhone and successfully used the locator via the browser (Safari). It located a feature called Batt 1. I also searched for addresses successfully. Interesting that the rest endpoint for "Geocode Addresses" returns "Unable to complete operation" but the "Find Address Candidates" works successfully. Screen shots below of the results. Results from Find Address Candidates (same result on iPhone as on desktop) Results from Geocode Addresses (same result on iPhone as on desktop)

Hey Russell, It is shared to everyone on the portal, both via the sharing properties on ArcServer Manager and the Portal interface. I have a ticket in with Esri Support and the first (email) question they had for me was is it a Composite Locator. I responded that yes it is a Composite Address Locator but they haven't replied back. Would this be the issue, does Collector not cooperate with Composite Address Locators? Thanks much for your help, as always

I changed the default Geocoding Service (Utility Service) on our ArcGIS Portal (10.3) to point at a service that we host on one of the Federated ArcGIS Servers for Portal. This new geocoding service works within a map in Portal and the directions Widget as well as locally within ArcMap but it doesn't work on Collector. I don't receive an error when searching in Collector for an address or location it just returns "No Results Found" for all/any search I attempt. I'm even searching simple specific names which should return a result. Anyone have trouble using a custom geocoding service in Collector?

Anyone experiencing that the thumbnails for the default basemap gallery do not display (Portal for ArcGIS 10.3 newly installed)? There is a screen shot below where you can see that some display while others do not. This occurs when viewing in multiple different browsers and the Collector app. I placed a ticket with Esri and they had not seen it before and are working on it. I wondered if others had experienced it and know a solution? I tried to manually assign a thumbnail to the basemap details page but because it is Esri content assigning a thumbnail is not available as an option. Any ideas where these thumbnails reside on the server, if I knew the location I would test out placing the thumbnail there assuming I got the naming convention correctly.

I'm still working through the issue with Esri Support, in fact yesterday I had a long desktop sharing session. The analyst couldn't find a solution and is elevating the ticket. I may know more this afternoon, will certainly share results with this thread.

Any guidance on deploying a web app designed in Web AppBuilder and to be hosted on our local Portal for ArcGIS (10.3). The app was necessary because it has one custom widget (elevation profile). I built the app in Web AppBuilder and tested out the widget which works fine. I downloaded the app as instructed through Web AppBuilder. The next step says to unzip the app and "Deploy it on your web server." This is where I need help, I've never deployed a website before. On our web server there is a inetpub folder with a subfolder wwwroot. Is this where the unzipped site content should reside? Thanks for any guidance.
