Hey Jacob, Would we have to enable one of the federated servers to act as the Portal's hosting server in order to access that capability? We currently don't have a hosting server so the workflow is to publish a service to either of the ArcGIS Servers and then share the content to the Organization/Groups. When publishing a service to ArcGIS Server the Tile Mapping capability is not available as when you publish to AGOL. Thanks again for you help and suggestions! I kept experimenting and found that you can change all of the homepage elements through modifying the html of the Banner which is accessible through My Organization - Edit Settings - Homepage - Banner - Custom Design - View HTML Source. Some things you can change include the homepage fonts, webkit-box shadows for featured maps, gallery label container, and other things. Below is a small example which changes the font on the Header text and makes the Featured Maps "webkit-box" transparent. Though, there is lots more you can do. Good luck and hope this is helpful. Also, check out this Esri blog for Home Page customization. <style> #header .nav a {font-family: Geogrotesque Medium;font-size:20px; color: #718473} #featuredMaps {background: transparent; -webkit-box-shadow: none; box-shadow: none; border-bottom: none} #featuredMaps #fHeader {background: transparent; border-bottom: transparent;} </style>

Hi Dave, This isn't necessarily a selling topic but I attended the Esri UC. I sat in on two technical session where they demo'd new or beta products, both of the sessions utilized tools that will only be available in ArcGIS Pro. Esri is developing and releasing products that are not backwards compatible with ArcMap/Catalog. It will be a long time before ArcMap/Catalog are no longer on your desktop but it seems inevitable. I can remember the days of ArcInfo and ArcView and I would say learning ArcGIS Pro and slowly transitioning to it is important for the future of your company if they utilize GIS.

Any chance you have two data frames in the same map and had the wrong one activated when you added the scale bar?

Keith, An alternative to hosting your own raster/DEM image service is to use Esri's World Elevation/Terrain. Downside is this is Premium content so it does cost 'credits' when it is used. But, it's simple to use, just add it to your map, symbolize, and enable the pop up. Hope this helps and good luck

Thank you for the suggestion Miaogeng, I will look into this. So just for clarification, there is no auto-timeout/log out on Collector?

Morning Christina, I think you answered your own question when you mentioned the original extents of the two rasters do not match. When you bring an unreferenced image into ArcMap it displays where ever you place it, unless you can get the two images to align to the same original location then you can't use the same link table. The link table has several from (x,y) and to (x,y) which will only apply correctly if the original from location is exactly the same for both rasters. I think aligning the rasters originally might take as much time as manually georeferencing the second raster. Though someone in the community may have another solution. Hope this is helpful and good luck! Ben

Morning Joseph, Has "Attachments" been enabled on the feature class? There are two different ways to enable attachments depending on where the feature resides. Below is a screen shot of enabling attachments for a feature which resides on ArcGIS Online. From the item details select the context menu under Layers and choose "Enable Attachments." The steps are a little different if in SDE and hosted on Portal. Hope this helps and good luck.

We would like to change our Portal for ArcGIS 10.3.1 Homepage fonts to custom fonts that align with our companies branding and standards. I installed the fonts on the web server and correctly tagged them in a custom html updating the "Description" but the custom font is being ignored and it appears to be defaulting to Veranda. I noticed there were only 5 standard fonts available in the "Description" text editor and I wondered can you use fonts outside of that list? Example of the html modifying the font face to a custom "Geogrotesque Md" <p align="center"><b><span style="font-size: 22pt; color: rgb(64, 64, 64);"><font face="Geogrotesque Md">Get started! Learn how to…</font></span></b></p>

Is the ability to host a tiled mapping feature service on Portal for ArcGIS (10.3.1) available as it is with ArcGIS Online? I ask this in relation to hosting a tiled map service for the purpose of taking this tile service offline as a basemap with Collector (10.3.1 Build 990). I see this functionality is available with ArcGIS Online/Collector 10.3 and I would like to take advantage of it with our Portal for ArcGIS. This is a great enhancement over the creation of TPK files and side loading for offline basemaps. Thanks for your input.

Can you set up or customize Collector to timeout automatically when a user doesn't interact with the app after a given time? I noticed that once logged in Collector will stay logged in forever it seems, I tested it for 24 hours successfully so I'm assuming it doesn't time out at all. I recognize the offline benefits of not timing out but I also wonder for security reasons if you can define a timeout time. Any help is appreciated, thanks! We are using Collector 10.3.1 on iOS Build 990 and Portal for ArcGIS 10.3.1.

You can test out the "below the ground theory" by right clicking on the Scene in the table of contents, select Properties, then select the Elevation Surface tab. There is a check box in here to "Allow navigation below the ground"
