Hi Elle W‌ To edit field aliases on the data source in Pro, open the Fields View. That can be done from the layer's context menu > Design > Fields Or from the Attribute Table triple-stack menu > Fields View Or from the Table View ribbon... anyway, you get the point; there are different ways to get there. From Fields View make sure that you change the dropdown at the top from the Layer name to Data Source Now changing your aliases can be done directly on the data source so that it is permanent. Does that help?

Robert Graham‌ Could you please provide some more details about what you expect to be converted? Do you have dashes in Excel that are becoming field names in ArcGIS? Are you getting an error, does the tool not complete? Or if you end up with a table that has dashes in the field names, does that cause an error with something else downstream? I just ran a quick check and if I have a dash in what becomes a field name in the output table from the tool, the dash is maintained. This idea is requesting for dashes to be converted to underscores as part of "error checking." I'm just not sure right now what the error is. Defining tables—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS Desktop Thank you!

azendel‌ Have you tried the following or asked these questions to help isolate the issue? 1. Do all ArcGIS Pro users in the office experience similar performance lags? 2. What about different users on your same machine? 3. What about using your user profile on a different machine? 4. What happens in a different Pro project? If you open a blank project and add some of the same layers and repeat some of the same steps that are causing the lag described, do you still get the lag? 5. You mentioned that your data is all on a Windows file server. I understand the need for that, but for troubleshooting purposes, what happens if you pull data locally, point to the local data (from the laggy map if possible so that we're creating a true comparison) and do some of the same steps described above? With some of those steps, we might be able to determine if this is a user profile issue, machine issue, project issue, or data location issue. Being prepared with the results from above will definitely help if you end up working with technical support on the issue.

Lee Davis‌ Can't this be done using the Append tool: Append—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop ? As long as you've selected the features in the input dataset (in the case of using a definition query, I think you'd have to add one step to actually select them) you can use the Append tool's Field Map Control... wouldn't that work? If not, could you provide specific examples where that workflow doesn't meet your needs? Thank you.
