It will be nice to have this function. but I can't find anything in it's XLSForm help. Basically ESRI has bipolar app camps : Form-centric or map-centric. Survey123 is in the Form-centric camp, but sometimes it's really something in between is the solution, something "form-centric" in looking but "map-driven" (or you can call it Location Intelligence) under the hood. for example, when I am standing in front a property to do the assessment, it should only prompt me the nearby properties to select (or fill out most of the address fields like street names), not asking me to type the address (typing the map is only optional rather than mandatory). then show me the survey questions. Just a thought.

I am replying to myself Good news, problem solved! Problem solved. I found the url for this table is different from the others, now I recall this table was added later by "Add Layer From Web",while the other tables were added automatically when adding the featurelayer. this table's url pattern is like http://services1.arcgis.com/xxxxxxxx/ArcGIS/rest/services/HostedFeaturelayerName/FeatureServer/15 while the other talbes's urls are slightly different http://services1.arcgis.com/xxxxxxxx/arcgis/rest/services/HostedFeaturelayerName/FeatureServer/n After I deleted the table and re-added it using the following url pattern, it started working! http://services1.arcgis.com/xxxxxxxx/arcgis/rest/services/HostedFeaturelayerName/FeatureServer/15 So lessons learned: 1. Bring in the related tables all in once by adding the featurelayer 2. If you have to add a related table in your webmap, keep the url pattern consistent with the featurelayer and other related tables.

Thanks Russell, Let's say in Collector. if I download an offline map to edit, I assume a replica will be created for the feature service. when I delete the offline map using the manage tool provided by Collector, I imagine it will notify the service that the replica is not needed any more, and the server will delete the replica as nobody can use this replica at a later time. but I did some test on my iPad, after I deleted my offline map on the iPad, the replica remained on the server. I am really confused and this is causing trouble for me, as I have clear all the replica to overwrite my feature service. Thanks. Simo

Thank you, this helps. It seems some circumstances can cause dead replicas on the server. I had deleted all my online maps in Collector on all my devices, but when I checked the replicas of the service, I found 4 replicas which stopped me from overwriting my service in AGOL. I took the same map offline several times on different devices using the same AGOL login, did that cause the issue?

have you checked this thread out? AGOL replica removal By my own experience, you don't need to disable Sync. as long as you delete all the replicas you can overwrite the service.

My map has one feature layers with several related tables, when I edit the related table online using Collector it works fine, but when I take the map offline, something strange happens: just for one related table, let's say the table is named Assessment_Complete, when I click "New", instead of showing me the table, it shows me a message "No valid Location", and it seems thinking I intend to collect the location on the map! I am really confused, because I have already selected a location and this is only a related table without any spatial field what so ever. the most confusing thing is the other related tables seems work fine! this is on my iPad air, on my Nexus 5, opening the offline map just simply crashes Collector, leaving me a message "Unfortunately, Collector has stopped" Is it just me?

Hi Ismael, The repeat function sounds really interesting. I really like the smart form feature of Survey123, but my situation is like what you said “ want it all, something that runs anywhere…”. Instead of asking people the location, I know where the property is and have some baseline information of the property, now I need to do an assessment/inspection on it. so I kind of need to identify the property and then bring up the question forms to start the assessment/inspection. Currently, I am using Collector to do it, it works, but the form in Collector is not as ‘smart’ as in Survey123, it does not support the basic logic like “Relevant” function in Survey123. I even don’t know if my case should be classified as “form-centric” or “map-centric”, we do have lots of forms, but the forms are designed for individual properties which has a specific location! Cheers, Simo

Good stuff. just one question, how well does Survey123 support related tables for features. I am thinking of using the smart form for asset inspections. Cheers,Simo

Hi Miaogeng, Thanks for referring me to the blog. it sounds like if there are no datum transformation involved, assuming the GPS accuracy is acceptable, then the GPS position and the map should match. Miaogeng Zhang Gordon Sumerling I don't know what device the users will have at the end, because they are from different government agencies, I don't think they will have uniform devices. maybe some use android phone, some use iphone&ipad, windows phone when collector is available on that platform. I hope we don't need external GPS units, but I'll see after the first field test. Simo

have you seen this post before, it seems only Pro supports python 3.4. ArcGIS Desktop and Server (AGOL is server) only supports 2.7.7 Python in ArcGIS 10.3

Hi Ron, Thanks for your reply. let me clarify my situation, I am NOT going to collect the information of the GPS location, instead, I am using GPS to "identify" the properties and assess the properties. so knowing where I am on the map is quite important and the more accurate the better I reason I raise the concern was that I had a thought on GPS maps then I did a bit Google research on it. I can assume the GPS receiver is always giving me the right coordinates (lat/longs or other units in UTM projection). but the 2D map I am using to show the GPS dot is a result of particular projection, which is based on a datum and a projection method. by this point, maybe the question should really be: is the GPS and the map I am using are using the same datum? because I think, if the datum is the same, the actual lat/long in two systems (GPS and the map) for a location on the earth is the same, they should match. in definition for WGS84 and Web Mercato Auxiliary Sphere, it seems the datum is the same, so maybe it should not be a question... if I am using another Geographical Coordinate System in my map, there may be a problem, the GPS location on the map can drift away (for example, I am standing in a property, but the GPS shows I am standing out of the property on the map) I am curious what map projection do they use in the commercial GPS Unit in our cars. Hopefully I am not making an obvious thing too complicated. I am not a surveyor, they should know these things better.

For application authentication, instead of using AGOL account (User logins), you can use application ID to and App secret to get a token to access the content shared with the app developer (with an AGOL account). this is convenient when you are developing an app to users who don't have AGOL accounts. So I think you have to use the token in your application which AGOL will recognise, because you registered the application.
