Hi Kevin, Could you send a screen shot of the characters you're looking to label? Are they international characters? From what you've described I'm thinking the issue is that the characters you are looking to label with do not exist in the fonts chosen. If this is the case, a good inclusive font to try is Arial Unicode MS. thanks Wendy

Hi Chris, If you have upgraded those annotation feature classes in the dataset - then yes that's why you're unable to edit other feature classes in that dataset in ArcMap. Here are some links to help See the last section - Upgrade annotation feature classes https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/annotation/managing-annotation-feature-classes.htm#GUID-9035B765-7E33-47A7-854D-40E434FEB6BE There is a chart in this one that describes how annotation is supported across versions https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/data-management/upgrade-dataset.htm thanks and hope this is helpful Wendy

Hi Emmor If contacting support services is not an option could you attach the feature class you're having issues with? I'd like to take a look at it to see why it's taking so long to convert those 4 labels to annotation. thanks Wendy

Hi Michelle, what happens if you pull one layer into it's own map and convert labels to anno there? Sorry this is a long trouble shooting process through geonet. Have you logged a support call? that is normally the best way to get through these issues. thanks wendy

HI Michelle, I've never heard of an issue like this for converting labels to annotation. What I'm thinking may be happening from your description is that you label, convert labels to annotation and then the labels aren't turned back on for the next conversion run so nothing actually gets converted into the feature class. To check this, click on the Label view tab in the Contents pane and see if the layers are checked on for labeling. If they're not, check them and test to see if that resolves it. Please let me know what happens. thanks Wendy

Hi all, We have had many requests for this functionality and we are working on it. There is an enhancement request in the system that you can check on through support at any time - ENH-000111854 thanks wendy

Hi Chris, I'm sorry that I don't have any ideas off the top of my head as to what may be causing the issue. You are in the best hands having the support call open. Once they are able to reproduce it they will log it to my team and we will take it from there. So let's get them all the information they need so that they can reproduce the issue in house. A lot of the times things are best reproduced with the data you are working with. They don't need the whole dataset. The best thing you can send them is a map package with two datasets with a feature in each with the join between them and labels turned on (basically the smallest possible amount of data that will reproduce the issue). As long as they can load it into SQL Server and repro. Keep us posted Thanks Wendy

Hi Will, a quick way to see if the label engine is trying to label the features but they're not fitting is to click the unplaced labels button. this is on the Labeling toolbar Customize > Toolbars > Labeling it's the tag icon with the red x on it if you're not seeing labels because they don't fit you will now see them in red. at this point you'll need to work on the labeling parameters to fit them in so they place. if you don't see anything then something else is stopping them. things to check: is there data in the field you're using to label? is there a scale range present that you're outside of? is there a sql query that has narrowed down what you're labeling? thanks Wendy

To do that you need access to FeatureSet to loop through features. The dynamic text expressions are part of the Visualization profile and don't have access to this functionality. There is another way to do what you're looking for through dynamic text. I've spoken with a colleague and she'll be here shortly to take you through it. thanks Wendy

Hi Levi, you'll need to rework the return line. The sum should be an element in the array, not the second parameter in concatenate. Concatenate( [ "Total: ", Sum(sqft) ] ) or cast the sum to text Concatenate( [ "Total: ", Text(Sum(sqft)) ] ) ---------------- does your UsableArea field contain a list of values that you're summing? or are you trying to do something else?

It does sound like a lot of work. When you have your original label class with unplaced labels you can convert it over to annotation and specify that the unplaced labels are converted to annotation at that time. No need for another label class to store them in. Once you have the annotation you can go into the symbology and specify to draw the unplaced annotation so you can see it and then place it from there. In the attribute table there is a field that specifies whether the anno is placed or unplaced which makes it easy to query on and then zoom to each area - no need to go searching on your own. You can do all of this in both ArcMap and Pro. I hope this helps Wendy
