Hi Thomas, Maplex has been included in Pro since 1.0 and is the default label engine for new maps.  When you import an mxd into Pro the appropriate label engine will be used - standard or maplex depending on how your mxd is set. Hi Are you working in 3D? If so, you will only have access to the Position dropdown on the first tab when your data is in the 3D group. If your data is in the 2D group you will not be able to label.
