Anyone else having issues with the Search widget not working. I had a broken source and needed to reconfigure but the search widget wont load properly. Tried clearing cache but no luck. Any other ideas?

I looked into this a little bit. I discovered I actually had some files related to SDE. I removed those as they aren't kept updated anymore and switched to hosted feature layers. I have some local files and some from a local geodatabase. I still have the same behavior. I tried switching the Explore tool to the top most layer and have no issue but of course I only get that top layer identified. I'm wondering if the Explore tool/pop-up results have a limit on how many features it can show popups on at once. Selected in Contents also seems to work just fine. I really like the visible layers option as that way I don't have to worry about changing everything every time I want to get a popup for a different layer though.

I am using the most recent version of ArcGIS Pro. I primarily am using hosted feature layers but I also have a few local files and services. When I use the explore tool to identify pop-ups I get mixed results. When I click on something I get the identifying box that acts like its working and something even flashes that was identified but the pop-up panel stays blank. Sometimes it will display properly but always. I have the tool set to visible layers so I would expect in most situations to have at least 3 or layers that should give me popup information but it usually doesn't. I am happy to provide additional information but I wasn't sure what all would be needed to help figure this out. I would prefer not to have a support case for this but maybe it is a bug.

I use a lot of layouts with multiple map frames too. One thing I found that was pretty cool was that you can have irregularly shaped map frames. In one instance I created the main map frame with a a rectangle chunk taken out of the frame and the other frame put in that place. Still doesn't work like neatline but is a cool feature. Its been so long since I was able to use the neatline though that if I had the feature back, I probably wouldn't use it now. My original post was from 5 years ago.

No I never did. I just use the out of the box option which is disappointing but it is what it is.

That is my biggest gripe about this whole thing. If you are not going to make something backward compatible at least make it capable of doing (or at least comparable with) what the previous software did.

That's what I thought. Going that route really isn't a good option for me at this time. Perhaps Esri should consider bringing you on as a consultant. I know you did great work with Flexviewer and with WAB and I'm sure this one is just as good. On another note, I am thinking of going ahead and deploying my EB map and just not discontinuing the WAB until I am absolutely satisfied with the new widgets. Once that happens I can phase out my support of our WAB apps.

I'm not using Developer Edition though. Is it possible to use custom widgets in the ArcGIS Online version?

Josh, I appreciate that response. I didn't realize that a trigger had to be set in this case. The terminology used is not very intuitive. Even after finding the help, I still just guessed which trigger was the best and "record selection changes" is what I landed on. I'll keep working on this map and see if I can get it to do what I want. I actually have used EB for some other apps but this particular one just has extra requirements. To be honest, my post was more venting than anything because I feel that Esri is not as responsive to user requests as they used to be.

I am really struggling here. I am a Web App Builder hold out because the Experience Builder still lacks the functionality that I need. I need a search widget that gives me more options on what to do. The current search widget gives me a result but doesn't actually do anything, it won't pan to the result. It does add something to the url which when submitted will redirect. That is certainly less than ideal. There is also still no way to print a map which my users still want. I would love to be able to move to EB because I really need the grouping functionality that WAB does not offer, but I cannot make the move without these widgets. Its been several years now since the EB was developed and widgets are always promised. What ends up happening is these advanced widgets end up getting updated like Elevation Profile, Suitability Modeler which are great features if you need them but still not very helpful if the basic widgets are not working. Why are features like WAB that actually work not getting updated instead of developing new features like EB?

I would only need those after a certain date. As long as they satisfy that, then they should be symbolized. So, after reading through some of the ideas on the StackExchange thread I came up with a definition query. What's nice about that is I can either turn the query on or off as needed or can even simply have it as a separate layer just depending on how I need to display it. Thanks to all for helping me think this through. Symbolizing by date is still one of a my biggest wants from Esri and they don't seem to be moving anywhere with it.

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this but not sure where else to ask. I am working on my future land use map and I'd love to be able to quickly show where I have made changes. Is there a way to symbolize features that have changed differently? I have editor tracking enabled but as I've noticed before there is no way to symbolize features by date in ArcGIS Pro. For now I've been simply adding notes to each feature that I change in a new NOTES field and can select by edited date at the end of the project and do it that way but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks Tom. I didn't think to activate the map frame in layout view. It is odd to me that the layer in map view doesn't come forward to the layout view. This is the case with virtually every other thing set in the map view. Typically the only thing I change in the layout view is the extent of the map in layout view. I'll have to remember this. Clearly there is still something a bit odd about my layer but this is an acceptable workaround.

I have a layer that was created in SDE and served up as a Hosted Feature Layer. It was time aware when I did it. Now the layer appears to be locked in a certain time frame. Even though I have certain features that have been added they don't display properly in layout view. I attached a screenshot. I am able to change the display and slider in map view including in the time menu at the top ribbon. I am not however able to change the time extent in Layer properties. In layout view the ribbon settings do not carry forward and the map seems to default to the layer properties adjusted time extent. Does anyone know how to overcome this? I'm guessing it has something to do with how the hosted feature layer was created. The layer does appear to display correctly in ArcGIS Online.

Could not agree with you more. However, in the time since you posted this, ArcGIS Pro has improved greatly.
