Michael Miller Mike, The setup: Two organizations want to edit replicas of the same address data through a #GeoData Service. Their edits occur locally throughout the day in versioned feature classes, they both run scripts to reconcile and post edits to their Default versions in the evening, and the deltas are synched through the replicas by the next morning. Both organizations use the #Attribute Assistant including the #GenerateID table. Question: Does the GenerateID table have to be part of the replica? If so, how are duplicate IDs avoided since each set of editors is seeing the same numbers in a synched up replica? If it does not have to be part of the replica, should one of the organizations set their GenerateID table to have higher values to avoid future duplicates?

Mike, Is there any way to put the feature class that the validation is for at the top of the window somewhere? In the case of a MasterStreetName change, the edits could cascade down to multiple features and this validation window could pop up multiple times for different feature classes (road centerlines, nodes, site address points). It can get confusing. Or maybe I just have my DynamicValue table set up incorrectly... Either way, a feature class name at the top of the window would help. Thanks, Jace

I have noticed that the Add Site Address Point tool will not finish sketch if <Null> values exist in any of the MasterStreetName table domain fields. All domain fields without a valid value, or set as <Null> through the drop-down, must be calculated as blank ( "" ) for the tool to work. If this is a known bug I have not been able to find it in a search of the forums. In the attached screenshot, I have marked up the examples that work (green check) and the ones that don't (red X).

Mary McCullough, your favorite AA rule helped me create a series that concatenates the full address number and name for SiteAddressPoints. In our database, the Address Number Suffix can be tricky because it can be a letter (A, B, C) or sometimes a fraction (1/2, 1/4, 1/8) depending on what is being addressed. A letter suffix will be placed right after the Address Number (903A, 851B) so that it doesn't get confused with the street name. Fractions require a space so they don't bleed into the Address Number (903 1/2, 851 1/4). Attached is a commented spreadsheet of the DynamicValue table with the concatenation expressions. Our database does not contain Prefix Directionals but it's easy to follow pattern. Thanks!

Michael Miller, A few of my rules for Road Centerlines use the INTERSECTING_FEATURE value method with the optional SP (start of the line dialog) and EP (end of the line dialog) methods to present the user with a selection dialog so they can choose the intersecting feature for the attribute value. The dialog box itself does not have much information about what the user should be choosing. As a suggestion, would it be possible to leverage the Comments field in the DynamicValue table to populate a dialog when a selection has to be made? Can you point me to more information on how to configure the pop-up dialog boxes for selections?

Jeff, after 3 long years you get an answer. It appears to only split the starting road segment, not the one it ends on. I don't know if that was the intent.

I concur, the Address Management tools are great. I would add that at the time of this post, those tools have not yet migrated over to ArcGIS Pro.

This is the ideal solution for the Damage Assessment application. It needs to be able to collect underlying property values, owner information, and calculate reimbursements based on the insurance on the site.

Simon, I tried again this morning (6/16/2017) with no luck. Same error. I haven't had to use CityEngine in quite some time so it hasn't been an issue. What could be causing it?

I found the issue: poor logic. This self-referencing attribute was causing the strange error. The error never hinted at this kind of issue so this post should serve as a warning. attr Front_Baseheight = case Front_Baseheight > 0: Front_Baseheight case Front_Baseheight == 0: 2.4384 # 8' else: 3.048 # 10'

There are no obvious errors nor warnings in the rule editor. For the most part, it works. Even after deleting the .cgb files from the bin and re-opening CityEngine, the error persists. In my start rules I'm using constants that reference an imported rule set. By doing so the Default style appears blank. I can't see how that would cause this type of error, but it's the only other oddity in the file.

I found a Zoning Regulations.cga rule from 2012 that I wanted to modify for a project I'm working on in CityEngine 2016.1. I made the adjustments and now the file produces an error any time I click on it in the Navigator pane. I'm not sure what is triggering the error, but I assume it's from something in the code that may have been deprecated in later releases of CityEngine. Is there a way to check for that? And if I'm wrong, does any one know why this error would be generated?

Problem: There are issues with the Alter Field tool not immediately showing the results or throwing inconsistent errors depending on whether the user is the owner of the SDE feature class. As the owner of the feature class, when using the Alter Field tool on a GUID field to change its name and alias, the tool will run with no warnings or errors in the process. Right-clicking the feature class afterwards and going to Properties gives an error (first time) or does nothing at all (each time after, before refreshing). Running tool when not the owner of the feature class results in the 001600 error message during the process. Looking up the details of the error shows the same problem as the result coming from the owner. When using the Alter Field tool on a Text field to change its name and alias, the tool will run with no warnings or errors in the process. Right-clicking the feature class afterwards and going to Properties will not immediately show a change to the field. Refreshing will not show the change. This applies to the owner or non-owner. Conclusion: Using the Alter Field tool in SDE can have different results depending on ownership. The same operations performed on an identical schema in a file geodatabase did not produce any errors. Solution: Depending on ownership, when the tool doesn't block you from running it, exit ArcCatalog and come back in. The results of the Alter Field changes will be shown in the Fields tab and the error on checking the Properties will not occur. Database: SQL Server Enterprise Database (SDE un-versioned) Application: ArcCatalog 10.3.1 (version 10.3.1.4959)

This issue was really screwing with me in CityEngine 2016.1. I'm glad I found this post. I can verify that this issue persists in ArcMap 10.3.1 and that setting the 'NoData Value (optional)' setting to 0 when using Clip (raster) is the only way to solve it. It will set the 'Pixel Depth' to 8 Bit and the 'NoData Value' to 0, 0, 0. Do not set the value to blank! Blank sets the 'Pixel Depth' to 16 Bit and the 'NoData Value' to 256, 256, 256. You can see the difference in Windows Explorer.
