I have tried several different websites, shared drives, etc. I read Joseph Kerski's document. I want both photos and videos so hosting on ArcGIS isn't an option. Flickr, Dropbox, Google Drive...nothing works. Very frustrated.

Is there a way to tell whether a survey was filled out on a desktop computer vs a mobile device? Our survey is being marketed mostly via a QR code on outdoor signage, but also by a web link posted on a campus web page. I would like to see what proportion of responses are coming from each source, in order to determine if we should continue to spend money on the QR code signs. Is there a data field that can be accessed/added using Survey123 Connect that encodes that information into a data record? Thanks! Allen Risley Cal State University San Marcos

It turns out the problem was that the feature layer I was trying to run Density Analysis on was a view layer.

I have point data that is being collected using Survey123 and I would like to use the Calculate Density analysis tool to get a density plot of the points. I'm using the defaults and have my map zoomed so that the data I am interested in is displaying on the map. Every time I run the Calculate Density tool in ArcGIS Online it churns for a few minutes and then throws up an error message: "CalculateDensity failed". Has anyone else ever seen this error before? Any ideas what is causing the problem? Thanks in advance,

Thanks Phil!!! I will gives this a try. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge of how the stakeholder and fieldworker views in AGO work - are these just views of the data and not the actual data files? If so, where does the actual data reside? And is this data structure documented anywhere? I'm getting great use out of Survey123, but I'm often puzzled as to how it works and how I can trouble-shoot problems on my own (which I typically do for other Arc products and many other types of software). Thanks for your help. Allen

It's working again. I went back to the Survey123 Connect app and uploaded the survey again - that seemed to do the trick. While the problem was occurring I was able to run it in the field app. It also ran when I clicked on the link on the Collaborate tab. While on the Collaborate tab I noticed that the "Everyone" box had been unchecked. Not sure how that would have happened - it's not something I would do. That would explain why the field app and desktop browser worked - both of those would already be signed in to AGOL. Thanks for the reply!!!!!!!!

This error message is causing a HUGE problem for the project I am working on. Our data collection has ground to a halt. Is there anyone who can help me with this problem? Allen Risley Cal State University San Marcos

I am currently receiving this message for my "Clear the Air" survey (https://survey123.arcgis.com/surveys/465311af1fb845a8a4b08b843c82e2bb/overview ) when users attempt to access it via the QR code on their smartphones. You can access the survey if you use the link generated on the Collaborate tab on a PC. This was first reported to me at 10:30 today 4/9/2019. The data is viewable on the Survey123 website. The ArcGIS Online Health Dashboard does not report any type of general outage. The survey was created using Survey123 Connect. Any ideas? Hello, On one of my surveys I have a series of text fields that is being used to capture the names and contact information for participants in our data collection. I am the author of the Survey123 Connect instrument. I have shared the data/project with members of a group via the Collaborate/Viewer screen. The group members can see most of the data fields but these contact info fields do not display for them. The fields are not available for them in Data view - they are not on the list of fields to add. On the Analyze page the data does not display but there are placeholder tables that have a message stating that the data is not available to view (I didn't note the exact text). I can see all the data fields. I even went so far as to change a coworker's Role to Administrator temporarily. She still couldn't see those three fields. Any ideas? Thanks! Hello, I have created a survey form using Survey123 Connect that has custom colors chosen for the background and title bar at the top of the screen. When users load the survey via a weblink or QR code the screen loads initially with the default green background, then changes to the custom colors. The color change delay is probably less than one second but it is noticeable (and annoying). This delay does not occur if you use the Survey123 mobile app, but that's not a viable option for us. My clients are asking why this is happening. I don't think this was happening before the latest update release. Any ideas? Allen Risley GIS Specialist California State University San Marcos

Thanks, Charlie, that's EXACTLY my point. It's extremely difficult to explain that to students who are doing this for the first time and then similarly difficult for them to follow that protocol. This could really use a better solution in order for AGOL to become a better tool in a collaborative educational environment.

I came up with another "Issue": I have not been able to come up with a satisfying way for students to work collaboratively on a map or story map. One person/account has to be the owner and others cannot make changes to the owner's map or story map. This results in most group projects having one "map driver" with other students relegated to being content creators/collectors, which means they don't get the experience of editing the map or story map. And this is a real problem if the driver flakes out and leaves the group without a deliverable. Sometimes students will attempt to get around this by sharing their login and password with their colleagues so they can all have editing access. This often results in the "too many cooks" scenario, where user A saves their work, thereby deleting user B's work that was previous saved but that user A had not added to their map/story map. Our students regularly work on group projects using Google Apps, which seem to have figured out how to handle simultaneous editing. They don't understand why AGOL can't do the same. Allen Risley

Issues: When creating accounts via batch upload the invitations on the accounts expire after one week. No matter how much instructors stress to the students that they need to activate their accounts quickly, there are always students who don't activate the account and it is locked. Then the administrator has to go through the process of resetting the password and instructing the students on how to log on with the temp password (e.g., password reset routine asks for your "old password", which in this instance is the temp password from the email - confusing for first-time users). This reset process is time consuming for admins - increasing the time window to 2 weeks might significantly decrease the number of resets we have to do. And yes, I want to implement SSO - but I have to wait until our identity management people are ready to do so. What works well: So many things!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Allen
