I need to add more photos to an existing app that I published 2 months ago, but when I try Import, public pages (right side of the window) aren't recognized. I tried several different pages. I didn't have any problems before. Has something changed?

The only workaround that I've found is to run the steps manually. First, publish from ArcMap, and watch it fail. Dismiss the publisher window and tell it to save the draft SD. Run the geoprocessing tool Stage Service to convert the draft to a real SD, then run the Upload SD tool. I've used this approach successfully with both AGOL and Portal. That said, in the last week, even this option isn't working for AGOL. I get a service, but missing the geometry, only a related table is accessible. When I try with Portal, I get a good service. Still experimenting and will install 10.3.1 today.

This would work the same way as adding a zipped shapefile to a web map. I'm suggesting this because the AppBuilder has more extensive editing tools than a basic web map. After users of the app upload their own data, they could then do things like compare their data with layers in the app, or add GPS data to use as a guide when editing. If users can save a copy of the app, then the shapefile would remain in the copy.

I'm working on a web map with an editable service in Portal 10.3. There will be times when users will upload a shapefile as a guide to digitizing, and they need to label the features in order to find specific points. Labelling in the web map is basic, but functional. But I discovered that when I switch to editing, the labels vanish. Has anybody else noticed this phenomenon or have a workaround?

I can confirm that it's possible to add shapefiles to a web map in Portal 10.3, but the services don't appear in My Content. That means, Michael, that you're right about overloading the server, because users won't be able to delete those miscellaneous services.

Jake, Even after the recent update to AGOL, I still can't get related tables to work right in the web map. It sees the fields, but they're blank. Also, See Related Tables, opens the entire table, not just the related records. I'm trying to figure out if there's something about the service that's causing this. Are you using your own service or one hosted on AGOL? If it's on your server, is it 10.3? Jill

Michael, Is your service hosted in AGOL or from your own GIS Server? I can't get related tables to work right using a service from our server. The whole table to open and the related table fields appear in the popups, but empty.

Our Portal was just upgraded to 10.3 and I'm trying to make a map with a service from our server (not hosted). In Configure Popups, you don't get a Show related option. Instead all of the fields in related tables show up under Configure Fields. I selected some of those fields to include, but when I try the popup, the field values are empty. At the bottom of the popup is Showed related.... That opens the related table, ALL of the related table, not just the records you want. I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Grrr... indeed!

A lot of users never see the tiny triangle below the web map or Web App Builder map that opens the attribute table. It's just like the one in the Flex viewer, which is brighter (yellow). With Flex, you could set the table to be open on launch, but it took up so much of the screen that I hated to do that. Perhaps AGOL maps and templates could have a bigger arrow on a full-width title bar labelled something like "Tables" or, better yet, customizable. Also, if a feature is selected and the user closes the attribute table, the selection remains and the only way to clear it is to reopen the table. A lot of users won't figure this out on their own. This might be resolved with a Clear Selection button on the table title bar, or a general Clear Selection button that works on any selections in the map or table.

I was having the same problem, and found a workaround that may offer a clue to the source of the problem. In the GP Results, I reran the Stage Service step separately, then checked to be sure the SD file existed. Then I reran the Upload Service Definition separately, first checking the box to Override Sharing Properties. Presto, I have a hosted service. Jill Halchin National Park Service

Thanks, Brian. I wound up using restore from backup and it worked like a charm. No authorizing needed. One advantage to restoring rather than detach-attach is that it leaves the original GDB operational until I can get MXDs repointed the new location. The Finder app template can zoom in to a feature that has been selected in the Find results list, but zooming is based on the basemap tile levels, not on the feature geometry. I have an application that is using an alternate basemap that isn't a tiled service. The results is that when you select a feature in the Find results, it doesn't zoom in. The popup for the selected feature appears, but it doesn't have a Zoom To button, like it does in a standard AGOL map. My suggestion (make that a plea): Finder popups should include the Zoom To button. Jill

Brian, Did you try the detach-attach route? I've got to move several workgroup geodatabases to enterprise soon. I tried that approach going from personal sde to workgroup. It was easy and worked beautifully. I'm working with 10.2, so I may be up against other issues, because Esri has changed how you authorize enterprise databases. Jill

The Flex viewer is going to require your users to log on to each secured service separately, 10 times in your case. The only way to avoid this is to publish a single secured service that contains all of the layers. That way, users log on only once.
