I would prefer your alternative idea of a warning before navigating away from the page until there's an undo option available in AGO. Thanks for the quick reply! That's the part I was missing, I forgot the proxy was named in the app's config.json and not just the proxy file. Update in case it helps anyone else: While I was no longer prompted to login, my print service still wasn't working, until I remembered I needed to configure it to print the secured services in my web map. Print maps that contain secured services—Documentation (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise Then I saw that my vector basemaps weren't printing, until I redirected the app to a newer JS API that supported printing them. Oh, and in regards to your original question: yes, I do sometimes see a login screen for the proxy still. Refreshing the page fixes it, however that's annoying and looks really bad for our customers who probably just navigate away from the page assuming it's broken. Update: I just ran the 10.6 builder on our dev 10.5.1 Enterprise server (installed via Builder originally) and it upgraded the components and left my users and groups in Portal intact (don't have items in there yet). We didn't have to change any account names or anything during the upgrade. We did have to reenter our authorization numbers because they're now the ones for 10.6. The builder did miss upgrading our server web adaptor (but got our portal one), so I had to manually uninstall and install a 10.6 one with the same name. After the install, you run the Enterprise Configuration Wizard, and at the end it tells you to reindex your Portal, so I did a full index. ... View more

Update: ESRI support helped me clean up these items. We copied their item ids, turned off the Portal for ArcGIS service, then went into {install drive}:\ArcGIS\arcgisportal\content\items and deleted the folders with those ids. I'm also dealing with stray items in Portal. Nothing shows up in Server Manager to delete, I have a hosting server set up, there isn't delete protection on these items, and whenever I try to delete it says "Unable to delete item."
