I am looking for some assistance in setting up the following using the Expression Value Method: If FieldA is null then FieldB & FieldC & FieldA else FieldB & FieldC endif Basically I am populating an address field with a concatenation of a number of fields,. If the legal unit is populated I need to add it into the address. If not, I don't want to include it. I have tried a number of IIF statements but keep getting syntax errors. My latest attempt: IIF (isNull([UNITID]),("[ADDRNUM] & [QUALIFIER] & " " & [FULLNAME]"),("[ADDRNUM] & [QUALIFIER] & " " & [FULLNAME] &"Unit " & [UNITID]")) Ther error in the logs is "ERROR: evaluating the expression for feature in GISADM.AD_SiteAddressPoint with OID of 362945 Expected ')' I am using ArcGIS 10.0 SP3. I am not a web developer, instead I am trying to figure out whether something can be done in order for someone else to develop it, so if this question seems rudimentary my apologies. We have a workflow that is to be used when a Capital Works project is initiated that involves edits to our Road Centreline database. We would like the job creator to use the Flex Viewer to Create this job type as they are not ArcGIS users. I have installed the 10.0 SP3 version of the Workflow Manager Flex Viewer and it seems to be working. The issue is that our naming convention for Jobs includes the Prefix value. For example the user would create a Job of the Type Capital Works. If they were using the Workflow Manager interface they would select the Job Type: Capital Works, toggle Prefix and enter a Unique number that defines the Capital works project. The name of the job then uses the value in the prefix field. For example the user would enter the prefix value ISD-1234 and the job would then be called ISD-1234_CapitalWorks_[JOB:ID]. The out of the box create job widget does not expose the Prefix field. I would like to modify the widget to include the prefix, but from my VERY limited knowledge, I do not see that as a parameter of Create Job operation. Can someone confirm if I am correct? I just used the developer sample CustomAOICommand that allows the user to access the Find Address tool in the AOI tab of Workflow Manager. This is very helpful, but I was hoping that I might be able to incorporate the same tool into the Custom step JTXDesktop.DefineAOI. We want the definition of the AOI to be an explicit step in the Workflow. Any ideas if this might be possible? Thanks, Alison

I am working with the addressing group who are new to ArcGIS to implement a system that uses ArcGIS to create point addresses that will be used in the address approval process and ultimately created as part of the point address feature class. We showed the users the Site Address Point addressing tools and though they thought they seemed good, they don't work for our workflow. They will be creating the points and then based on their work, they will be defining the ranges for the road segments. What we would like to do instead is allow the users to create the points, add in the address numbers and then bulk edit the road name, type, direction, etc. We would like to do the bulk edits using Attribute assistant. The reason for this is that we want to take advantage of such functions as VALIDATE_ATTRIBUTE_LOOKUP and COPY_LINKED_RECORD. Here is what I see as the hopeful workflow: 1. User creates points 2. User edits the Full Address number field either manually or using the field calculator with a python script that allows them to enter the starting address number and interval. 3. When happy with the format of the addresses, the user will highlight all the points and open the attribute panel (see the attached picture) 4. Then they will select the feature class name (Site Address Point) and start entering the name of the road that they want to use 5. The rule in use by the attribute assistant on that field will pop up the validate_attribute_lookup window and present the user with a list of road names that meet the entered string. 6. When the user selects a name, all site address points will receive this name 7. Copy_linked_record will be used to copy all the supporting information to the associated fields (road_type, municipality, direction, etc.) At the moment I can get to step 5 without any issues. When I hit step 6 the user selects a name and the first point in the list is populated, they are then presented with the window again for the next selected feature, and again until the list is complete. So if I had selected 10 features, I would have to select the road name 10 times. Can anyone suggest a way of working around this issue? Any suggestions on how I can get it to fire only once and then update all? Thanks, Alison

Thanks Linda but this doesn't really meet my needs. I tried passing in the word TIMESTAMP into the ValueInfo field parameters, but it didn't work. I even tried to set it to see if I could do something with Date.Now.AsString, but that didn't work either. I also posted in the Water Utilities Forum and received a great response from Mike Miller. I was wondering if it was possible to use the FIELD_TRIGGER value method and populate a date field? It appears that it is only a defined string or a number. Here is the scenario, I have a table that keeps track of the road status. Included in this table is a date field for each status change (date road was poposed, date the commence work order was issued, etc.). I would like to use attribute assistant to automatically populate those fields when the status changes. I thought that the field_trigger value method might do it for me, but I am struggling with how to put in a date - sysdate preferably. Thanks, Alison

I found the source of all my problems. When I created my maps I did not bring the data into ArcMap using the Workflow Manager toolbar. Once I deleted all the data, and reloaded the data using the Add Data button on the Workflow manager Administrator toolbar things are working fine. Alison

Just reading the documentation and noticed something about the options to use the JTXDesktopSteps.LaunchArcMap Job type map document defined? Launch ArcMap with data workspace and version Launch ArcMap with data workspace and no version Launch ArcMap with no data workspace Yes ArcMap is launched using the map document defined. Layers are resourced to the job's version based on the Feature Class's short name.* The map is zoomed to the Area of Interest. This works the same as the scenario when a version exists, except the default version for the data workspace is used for the resourcing of layers. No changes are made to the layer sources. The map is zoomed to AOI. Mike, Maybe this is too simple, but could you modify the map document that is being used by the AOI Base Map for the Job and change the symbology for the JTX_JOBS_AOI to be hollow or to have a transparency? Or do you mean the Map View in the Workflow Manager? If that is the case, could you do the same thing but in this case change the map document that is being referenced under System Settings, Map Views, Job Result Map View? Alison

Mike, Not exactly sure what you are looking for, but have you looked at the developer sample that "This sample shows how to extend the ArcGIS Workflow Manager client application with your own AOI definition tool. In the sample, you will add an address finder tool to the available commands on the job's AOI tool."? You can find this in the WMX install under Developer Kit\Samples\CustomAOICommand. Alison

Tope, I was hoping you might be able to provide some insight in how to deal with the following situation. Desktops will all be installed with Oracle 10 client (also 9 and 8, but 10 is in the front of their path) Server will be installed with Oracle 11 client only SDE/WMX database is Oracle 11 I would like to use my server to publish the flex viewer and subsequently allow a subset of users create and interact with jobs using on the flex viewer. I would like to have a group of desktop users to use WMX to create and interact with jobs. So how do I deal with my database connections, workspaces and map documents? They all have service information stored in them. When I switch from working on the server to working on the desktop I run into issues of server libraries not loading and ORA10xml.dll errors. Could you suggest a way of dealing with this issue? Thanks, Alison

It would be useful to be able to copy and paste steps when editing a workflow. For example, I have a workflow that has steps to see if the user needs to perform any more edits. This flow is repeated at least three times during the workflow. Instead of having to put in the steps and their associated paths with conditional return codes, it would be great to be able to select the set I created above, copy and then paste.

I am actually using workflow manager so potentially I could include this as a step in the job process. There are acutally multiple related tables, so I would likely want to add a row in each related table. I would need to be careful to remove the associated row though... I just keep thinking that I am missing a step to make this much easier. Thanks for the response, I will give it a try.
