Thanks - the ago-assistant is pretty helpful with no real learning curve. It still requires some manual changing of urls for my specific case (updating URLS for feature layers loaded into our Portal site), but is so much quicker because you can do it all from a single webpage (whereas in Portal or AGOL you have to navigate to edit properties for each individual layer). The tool still seems hard to use for URLS in existing webmaps - looks like you have to be logged in as the owner of whatever specific map you want to modify. Even our admin accounts can't seem to access those settings. I may be missing something though. Still exploring the tool.

We have loaded a bunch of layers into our Portal site. Unfortunately we loaded them with an http url, and need to modify these urls (for each layer/service) to be https. The idea of going through and editing each layer in Portal does not appeal - wondering if there is a quick way to do this? Every layer is on the same server, so the primary part of the url can be changed with a simple Find and Replace kind of operation, if only there is a place to access the configuration for these. Thanks - Allen Scully GISP, City of Tucson AZ

Found out from ESRI that since the My Municipal Government Services app is from ESRI Canada, they don't really support it in the States. Fair enough. If you're good with javascript it is pretty easy to configure however you need.

In addition to Canadian healthcare, I am envious of this Canadian My Government Services app. I have been working on it,trying to get it configured for our city (in the US). Not as straightforward as I had hoped. I've taken out all of the code I can find that is Canada-specific, but am sill getting an error related to the Dojo set up at js.arcgis.com 3.8. Wondering if anyone in the US has successfully reconfigured this app? Thanks - Allen Scully City of Tucson, AZ

After being away from GEP for a few months, I'm back working with this and have a few updates and another question. The process RJ referred to above in Ben Saunder's blog works very well. From what I can tell, it can be a perfect solution in some cases depending on your source data. If your data feed updates a record for a feature from a status of 'Open' to 'Closed' (just for example) you are good to go. However I have a situation where the source data will create a brand new row, for the same 'event' when that event changes status (our statuses are 'New', Updated' and Closed) - so we end up with a situation where the same event ends up in our output feature class many times, and the process mentioned above will delete 1 record, for the one where the status is closed, but the 'New' and 'Updated' versions of the event still are present, even though as a whole the event can be considered 'closed' and all records of it need to be removed from the output feature class. So my question is - how to get around this. My thinking is that we need to use a date-time stamp, where only the most recent record for an event makes it's way into the output, and use this in conjunction with the Ben's method of deleting closed records. I'm working on this now, but any suggestions are welcome. Thanks - Allen

Thanks Joe - There was a setting in the 'directions' tab of the Network Dataset properties that was using a descriptor we set up that is a numeric value representing Road Catagory (major local road, minor local road, interstate etc.). Removing that form the directions configuration seems to have done the trick. We're using ArcMap 10.3.1 and v. 10.1 to build the network dataset (currently looks like you can only choose v. 10.0 or 10.1 as part of building the dataset).

I'm testing out our network dataset in preparation for using it to build our own routing service. It is doing a good job with finding appropriate A to B routes. However when you look at the directions, it is saying certain small segments are Ferry routes (we are in the desert, not a lot of ferries here), and simple turns are labeled as ramps, often saying 'turn left onto ramp...' when in fact it's a simple right turn. Again, the route generated on the map is correct, but the directions are wonky. Suspecting maybe it's the topology of our street network? But have not found any error at the segments/intersections in question. Anyone else encountered this? Thanks - Allen

Hi Luci and Rickey - Yes indeed the Utils.js file still has the ShowLocateContainer, and adding it as Luci references like the older version works perfectly. Really appreciate your looking into this - still getting my feet wet with custom java script, so this is quite helpful. Thanks Allen

Hi Rickey - Thanks for the quick response. Yes - that's the version we are using - is there an older one that is already configured like the screen shot? We have our own geocoder hooked up, but we're replacing an old flex based app that had the search address open when the map was opened.

Looking for the setting in either html code or js code to have the address search box open by default. Fairly new to customizing these apps, so I'm guessing this a pretty simple setting if you know where to look. Alternately, something like the initial map view here would be ideal (probably requires more involved configuration):

Building a custom geoprocessing widget - it calculates a range of values for water pressure at any clicked point on a map. The script works in pyscripter and arcmap, but I get an error when trying to run the published version. The error is saying that feature class referenced in the tool does not exist or is not supported. The feature classes referenced by the tool did get created as part of a map service that was generated when I published the tool. This happens whether I run the published tool in a Web App or via arcmap. So I'm wondering what needs to be done, I'm thinking at the Service level, to ensure that the actual geoprocessing service can get at the related map service layers it needs to execute. The tool creates datasets in memory, since it only needs to do some temporary work then return and display a calculated value, not create any data of importance. Not sure if the in_memory workspace would cause a problem or not with a geoprocessing service. Thanks

We have almost succeeded in re-wiring the My Government Services app for our own data. Only remaining issue is changing the geocoder. I've investiged this thread from 1.5 years ago: Attempting to use custom locator with My Government Services I'm still struggling to get ours working. It is not a composite geocoder, so I have commented out the last 2 lines out. This is what we have: Locators: [{ DisplayText: "Search Address", //Set placeholder text DefaultValue: "201 N STONE AV", // Set default address to search. LocatorParameters: ["SingleKey"], // Set Locator fields (fields to be used for searching). LocatorURL: "https://maps2.tucsonaz.gov/arcgis/rest/services/GISDATA_ADPARCEL_ADDRESS_MATCHER_WEB/GeocodeServer", CandidateFields: "Score, Match_addr, Ref_ID, Addr_type", //Set which fields are returned in results DisplayField: "${Match_addr}", //Set which field from results is displayed AddressMatchScore: 80 //Set minimum score to be considered a match //LocatorFieldName: 'Match_addr',//The returned field which specifies match type (specific locator within composite) //LocatorFieldValues: ["Address", "Addr", "Address_1", "Customer_Address"] //List of acceptable individual locators (within composite) }] I've tried the Matchscore with and without a comma after it. What we see in the map is simply 'No Results Found' - no errors or anything, just not finding anything. The candidate fields are taken from the info on the rest services page for the geocoder service (it includes the shape field there for some reason, but did not include that in the candidate fields here). My only theory is that there's a projection problem, since our geocoder is in our local state plane, but I'm assuming the map/app is Web Mercator? Thanks

Thanks all - I have tried private browsing sessions, reboot - still seeing the same behavior. May be time to use my speed dial for ESRI support.
