With the multitude of users identifying this as not implemented, can we get some traction from esri on a response?

Drew Flater I think putting the add field button in a fixed location not affected by scrolling, as you mention, would be a good improvement. That is my preference over adding multiple blank fields at once, anyway. I just wanted to make sure it was known that the "workaround" to the lost add-field button (add many at once) was not working either.

I also have issues knowing which field is which in modelbuilder after geocoding. For example, after geocoding, the streetmap geocoder is outputting 3 or 4 fields named "city". The streetmap geocoder is applying the same alias to multiple fields (IN_city, USER_city, city) . When you add a tool, such as "Alter Fields", modelbuilder is only showing the field alias, so it's difficult to know which "city" field in the dropdown corresponds to each of the geocoder fields. For an attribute table, you can disable field aliases. Can you disable aliases in modelbuilder, or is this a current limitation? Shitij Mehta

Add Fields (multiple) is for quickly adding multiple fields. However, the "add field" button doesn't stay in-view as the fields are added, reducing the efficiency of the tool and becoming clunky when many fields are being added. The request is to make the "add new" button stationary, so it doesn't scroll with the dialogue box. Two methods to add multiple fields in this tool: If you know the exact number of fields you need, such as 20, you are supposed to be able to click the "add new" button 20 times, then start filling out 20 field details. There is a confirmed bug in 2.3.3, where this option doesn't work. It will add the 20 field info boxes, but they'll all disappear after entering info on the first field. So right now, this isn't even an option. If you don't know exactly how many fields you want to add (or are working around the bug in #1), then you want the ability to click the "add new" button each time you're ready to enter new field info. BUT, the "add new" button disappears as the dialogue box scrolls. So if I am working on adding my new field #5, #10, #100, etc., then I have to scroll up to the top of the dialogue box every single time because the "add new" button isn't locked in place.

Duncan Hornby, you have several modelbuilder interface ideas. Have you experienced this issue too?

The ModelBuilder canvas scroll bars, zooming, and panning is very restrictive, making for a clunky UX. Pro won't allow you to scroll/zoom/pan beyond the model tools. As we're building models, you have to add the tool on top of existing tools, then drag around the new tool to force the canvas to "expand". Allow the canvas to be user friendly, let users scroll/pan to where they want to work in the model. Don't require a tool to be drug around 'clunkily' to move to the proper spot on the canvas.

If Arc had "highlight duplicates" like the conditional formatting in excel does, that would be legit.

If I had a dollar for the amount of times I've modified the fields in that window, then carried on with the rest of my work without looking to the top menu bar and hitting "save". Definitely need the improve the user experience with this one.

Imagine trying to explain GIS app development to your non-GIS management/executives. "Well, we have Web AppBuilder, but we can't do that. Ours is in Portal...but that widget is only in ArcGIS Online Web AppBuilder. Maybe next year they'll release a new Portal (now enterprise) version and we can use that widget. Or we could get Web AppBuilder Dev and have access in a few months instead of a year. But then we'd have to change our architecture because you need a web server to host Web AppBuilder (Dev) on. No, we can't modify code within 2 of the 3 versions." "Wait...what??" Lol

Got ya. There are several ways to go about it. How do you want to handle the tract participation info when it spans multiple council districts? Often time, for overlaying polygons to polygons where there is not a direct relationship, we'll go with where the centroid falls. More specifically, you'd convert the tracts to centroids using feature-to-point tool, then spatial join the tract points to the council district, then calculate your participate rate by getting field statistics from the tract points joined to council district. With this method, a tract is only assigned to 1 council district, thus you have un-duplicated values. You could use the intersect tool to split the tract polygons by the council districts, as you suggest. If you do not set any "ratio policies", the attribute values of the tracts are duplicated for each split of the tract polygon. If you have actual participation counts for the tract level, you could use the ratio policy setting to split the attribute value(s) and keep them un-duplicated. However, if your participation value is an aggregate (i.e., 50% participation in this tract), you can't really split/ratio that value properly with the intersect tool.

Janet Handal Are the council districts built on census tract geography? More specifically, can a council boundary run through the middle of a tract, or is a tract always in 1 council district? This can change the way to go about getting the values.

Slight revision. For the fields that have already been added to the fields config, you can select the top one, and scroll to the bottom and click the last one holding the shift key. Nonetheless, the idea still stands to add a "Remove" button next to the "Add" button for all of these tool UIs.

In Pro, the tools that allow for or require selecting fields have a multi-select and select all dialog box for adding all fields to the tool. But, there does not seem to be an exact inverse of this. That dialog box does not allow for selecting all and hitting "remove". If I'm working with a large number of fields, I want to be able to remove them other than one by one. Currently, it takes two clicks to delete a field. You click once to get the red X to appear, then click again to hit the red X. Here is the toggle for turning all fields on, and multi-selecting: The only way I see to undo this or change these fields is like this: Yes, you can hold the shift key and click the fields one by one, then delete the fields. But with 400 fields, this is not equivalent to the inverse of the add fields toggle. Example GP tools are summary statistics, transpose fields, but I'm sure there are many more with this same GUI.
