Ready-to-use deep learning models are available via ArcGIS Living Atlas. These models have been trained on data from a variety of geographies, you no longer have to invest time and energy into manually extracting features or training your own deep learning model. As new imagery comes in, you can readily extract features and produce layers for mapping, visualization and analysis. New deep learning models have been recently added. The Living Atlas team recently updated the Esri Vector Basemap and our OpenStreetMap offerings. The Esri Vector Basemaps were updated with content from commercial data sources, open data, and community contributions. These maps are updated on a regular cycle, currently every three-weeks. ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World provides foundation elevation layers and tools to support analysis and visualization across the ArcGIS system. These layers get updated quarterly with high resolution elevation data from federal agencies, open sources, and the community maps program. Esri is providing these datasets as ready to use services that benefit the GIS community and extend the use of data in new and innovative ways. Esri has released a new global land cover map using 10-meter resolution Sentinel-2 imagery, developed by Impact Observatory in partnership with Microsoft. The Esri 2020 Land Cover map, available in Living Atlas, will improve understanding of important topics such as food security, land use planning, hydrology modeling, and resource management planning. Esri and Impact Observatory will be able to update this map annually using an advanced machine learning model. ... View more

For many years, Esri has provided a series of live feeds to help enhance situational awareness apps. ArcGIS Living Atlas Live Feeds are a collection of ready-to-use services that can provide current information on weather and other information that can mitigate disasters. Published using the Aggregated Live Feeds Methodology, these are used by the Esri Disaster Response Program, included in the Emergency Management Operations Solution, and leveraged in many applications across the user community. The Live Feeds are feature services containing data from authoritative sources, including NOAA, USGS, NIFC and more.  In an effort to provide more visibility and transparency for the current status of these feeds, the Living Atlas team has developed the new Live Feeds Status page. The page displays a summarized view of each service showing the current status and usage trend, along with an RSS link to subscribe to notifications. Infrastructure is in the news, and specifically so is broadband. I came across this app today from National Telecommunications and Information Association (NTIA) that shows indicators of broadband need. What I really like is how they embedded this WAB app in their website, plus added a view full link to open the application fully. IMHO it's a well-crafted application, with excellent cartography and publishing tradecraft behind it. I think it's a great example of leveraging Web AppBuilder and ArcGIS Online to create and expressive experience that takes complicated data and makes it easier to understand. I also like the way that the app provides a way to download source content so you can take it and make your own derivative maps and apps. ... View more
