ArcGIS Hub Basic is already built-in to your ArcGIS Online organization, yet many don't realize that it's available at no additional cost and ready to use. Hub Premium offers valuable capabilities above and beyond what Basic provides, but Hub Basic is a great place to start and just might be all you need. This just-updated blog article details how to get started and leverage what you already have. https://lnkd.in/dUypavdS

There are a variety of resources that you can tap into. They are a bit dispersed, but here are some of my favorite locations to point users to for self-help. Tutorials: Formerly Learn ArcGIS, this destinations covers the entire ArcGIS ecosystem at different levels (beginner to advanced). Use the filters on the left side to find topics of interest. https://learn.arcgis.com/en/gallery/ This is a good one to get started with ArcGIS Online: https://learn.arcgis.com/en/projects/get-started-with-arcgis-online/ Topics: Another great destination, look for the product you are interested in, then click to find additional resources. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/ Product Help: Product help documentation includes getting started guides. For example, these are the search results for ArcGIS Online. https://doc.arcgis.com/search/?q=get%20started%20arcgis%20online&p=0&language=en&product=arcgis-online&version=&n=15&collection=help Esri Academy: A collection of resources included self-paced courses and videos to help you get started. https://www.esri.com/training/ ArcGIS Blog: Blog articles and tutorials covering news, how-to documents, best practices, and more. https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/overview/ As for the free, public ArcGIS Account, our education team is working on course materials for public account users that also underscore what you can do with a full account. These will be emerging with the next release of ArcGIS Online in June. In the meanwhile, there are certain things you cannot do with a public account but basic map authoring and app configuration is possible.

Thanks for adding the screen capture, it really helped me figure this out for you, I can see that you are trying to use the Sidebar Instant App. The link that you sent me is the link that you see when you are configuring the Instant App. You likely captured it from the URL you saw in your browser while you were working with configuring the Instant App. I won't be able to open that link and that is not the link you want to use. The link you need to use is the one generated via the Copy Link option or the link you see after you click Launch. Both Copy Link and Launch will return links that you can share with others that will allow public access to your app. For your app, all of the following will work for public access (I used them myself to prove your app is public). Congratulations on having a publicly accessible Instant App! https://nk21.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/sidebar/index.html?appid=afa5bbc89ec94f3098e73f47df3dff4d The other one that will work is the generic ArcGIS.com URL: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/instant/sidebar/index.html?appid=afa5bbc89ec94f3098e73f47df3dff4d Both of these work perfectly, and I was able to see your app, the intro panel, and advance beyond the intro. Here's the proof: Hopefully this will make sense and get you started along your Instant Apps way. You can prove this works by using the Copy Link or Launch URL in an incognito window.

When you author a map and share it publicly, you are prompted to also share any layers in the map publicly. If using Living Atlas subscription content, you will be notified. When creating an app using ArcGIS Instant Apps and sharing the app publicly, a similar thing will happen. You will be prompted to ok updating sharing for any maps or layers that are not shared publicly. Living Atlas subscription content will automatically be proxied (meaning it won't cause a public viewer to be prompted to authenticate) and if you are using Living Atlas premium subscription content (that is subscriber content that consumes credits) you will be prompted to ok its use. Bottom line, when sharing Instant Apps publicly, everything should be handled. You can always check by using an incognito window and/or by using the generic URL instead of your organization URL. For example, this link to a public Instant App uses my organization URL: https://onlinelabs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/media/index.html?appid=5d35fea278724eb6ba0afaa9470820cf This link uses the generic ArcGIS URL to to the same app: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/instant/media/index.html?appid=5d35fea278724eb6ba0afaa9470820cf

I forgot to add that you can have that search location tool open when the app is opened, which makes it a lot more obvious.

In the Interactivity panel, set Search location on: This will add a location search to the advance/play tools in the upper right. If you search for a location using that tool, all other maps in Portfolio will go to that location. Note that you can also define the location for all maps to zoom to by toggling on Define location, then clicking Configure: Try this sample Portfolio: https://onlinelabs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/portfolio/index.html?appid=e8941e6e95d64efbaaa452e101367af4 In that example I have defined the location for all tabs to open to Riverside, CA. Use the toggle location panel tool in the upper right to enter a new location: This overrides the default location settings and all tabs will open to that new location. If that seems less than obvious for your app users, you can use the app's Intro panel to provide instructions on how to change the location, and can also set the Introduction panel to open automatically when the app is opened.

I wanted to add that a dev team member did underscore that the color picker will evolve, and eventually a defined color picker will be introduced.

I appreciate your feedback, and also would agree - it's easier to pick from set of color options and reveal other options as advanced capabilities. I'll make sure the dev team gets the feedback. You can also add this to ArcGIS Online Ideas: https://community.esri.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/arcgis-ideas so others can comment and vote it up for action.

Prototypes have been developed for Light and Dark ‘Physical Geography’ basemaps, based on the ‘Human Geography’ model. They are designed to work well with the hillshade layers in the Living Atlas (vector and raster). Light Physical Geography basemap Both the light and dark versions of the Physical Geography basemaps are designed to be easily customized by toggling basemap layers or fully customizing them using the Vector Tile Style Editor. For more information, see A Layered 'Physical Geography' Basemap. Learn more about what's new at the Living Atlas website or the Living Atlas blog .

Ken, It depends on how the features are styled. For example, if they are styled using Counts & Amounts (Color), you'll see the color ramps. If style using unique values, you will see the color picker. While not the same as Classic, it's the new color picker in Map Viewer.

Using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Living Atlas, you can make a tornado map in a minute (or less). @danpisu details how, using the infamous 1974 Super Outbreak. After 49 years, it is still one of the most active and deadliest in history. View blog article Tornadoes can be mapped using the Tornadoes and Tornado Tracks layers in Living Atlas, coming from official data from NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center. For more details, see Map in a Minute: Tornado outbreaks using Living Atlas. Go to the Living Atlas blog to find more articles covering Living Atlas.

ArcGIS Living Atlas elevation layers were recently updated with lidar-derived, high-resolution elevation datasets. In the U.S., these updates were derived from expanded coverage of USGS 3DEP 1-meter DTM’s adding approximately 388,000 sq kms (~ 149807 sq miles) of new coverage. Other parts of the world also received updates. For all the details, see High resolution data updates to Living Atlas elevation layers. For elevation coverage details and extents, view the Elevation Coverage Map.

You've posted here in the Living Atlas Community, this question might be a better fit in the ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online Community depending on what you're looking to do. ArcGIS Living Atlas does have a selection of content for Vietnam: https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/en/browse/?q=vietnam#d=2&q=vietnam&rgnCode=VN In addition, Living Atlas basemaps such as World Topographic, World Imagery, and the others do have global coverage. If you are specifically after those files stored in the UT Austin archives: https://maps.lib.utexas.edu/maps/topo/vietnam/ I downloaded one of those to experiment. While you can add the PDF file as a document in ArcGIS Online, I am assuming that you want to add the topos as layers in a map. To do that, you'll need to use ArcGIS Pro to convert GeoPDF to GeoTIFF, then publish it from there. If Pro is your goal, then the conversion from GeoPDF to GeoTIFF should be what you want: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/conversion/pdf-to-tiff.htm After successful completion of the conversion, you would need to publish it as a service for use in a web map. I gave this a quick try and Pro complained that there was no spatial reference for the GeoPDF I downloaded from the UT site. While it successfully converted the file to TIF, it did not have a spatial reference. Next I gave it a quick go in a public domain GeoPDF converter. While it successfully converted to GeoTIFF, there were obvious issues in the resultant file, making me suspicious of the source files. Were it me, I would double check the topo archive to make sure they are proper GeoPDF files if your goal is to publish these a map services for use in web maps. Others here may be able to offer other advice..

At this time, a Hub is not a supported content type in ArcGIS Living Atlas. The Hub team does maintain a gallery of showcase hub sites here: https://hub.arcgis.com/pages/gallery And you can mention the Hubs you've identified at the Hub Community site to propose inclusion in the Gallery. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-hub/ct-p/arcgis-hub

Try this: typekeywords:"subscription" OR typekeywords:"Requires Credits" There are two types of subscriber content, each marked with a different typekeyword. There is subscription content, and premium subscription content which requires credits. That will work in both Map Viewer and at the Living Atlas website Browse tab: https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/en/browse/?q=typekeywords:%22subscription%22%20OR%20typekeywords:%22Requires%20Credits%22#d=2&q=typekeywords%3A%22subscription%22%20OR%20typekeywords%3A%22Requires%20Credits%22 At the browse tab, you can also add other types of filters for specific content or regions.
