Hi Ken, Many thanks! I was heading down the string split path, but my inexperience at Arcade was getting in the way. Thanks for the code. I will give this a try. Regards, Jay

Hello. Many thanks for your reply. I had reviewed the article you refer too prior to my post. If I am not mistaken, the workflow described therein is to stack values from multiple fields to create the feature labels using the new map viewer. In my case, I have one field (screen shot) with text string choices that I want to split and stack or word-wrap and stack (I don't know of a better way to call this idea). I will revisit the technical article in the case the answer does reside there. Regards, Jay

Hello. I have labels using an attribute text string that I would like to "wrap and stack" on my web map. In Pro, I am able to do this using Labeling Properties (see screen shot). I published the service but the labeling itself did not carry through to the service (maybe I missed a setting in the Share Web Layer?). I read that classic map viewer does not support the idea but the new map viewer does (maybe)? I opened my web map in the new map viewer and poked around on the Label features dialogue but was not successful. I am an Arcade beginner, but was wondering if there is an arcade function or code snippet available to do this, for example, wrap and stack the text string at the first space in the string? Thanks!

Hello Mervyn, Thank you for the tip on using blending. I was aware of blending, but had never tried. After some trial and error on the blending choices, I found one that displayed the labeling sufficiently (I hope) for our needs. I am still interested in working with custom basemaps, but for now I have what was needed. Many thanks and Happy New Year!

I kept changing the transparency back and forth until it stuck long enough for me to export the layout. In both the map frame and the layout frame the transparency was not persistent. Ugghh!!

Hi Amanda, I have toyed with that idea as well. While the transparency works in my Map frame (first screen shot), and I think my Planning group could use it, in the Layout frame the transparency does not appear to be honored (second screen shot). So frustrating! I would still like to understand why I am not getting a label only layer. Thank you for your great help, and Happy New Year!

Hello. I am working on a map for an upcoming comprehensive development plan. Our planning department likes the map so far, except that some of the text labeling is covered by polygons (e.g., parks, FEMA; see first screen shot). I am using the Streets (with relief) reference basemap. I ventured into the Vector Tile Style Editor, saved Streets as a new style, and switched off visibility on all map elements except the text labeling of interest (see second screen shot). The plan is (was) to continue to use the original Streets reference basemap, and add in the "Label only" tile layer into my Pro project map and layout. I know this would be a duplication of labels (stacked on each other). I am assuming that without changing the font size, halo, or font type, the top label layer will simply hide/cover the reference basemap labeling, in place. The no labels layer would be placed above the polygon layers eliminating the partial labeling. However, when I add the tile layer to the Pro map, it appears that everything I turned off (visibility) in the Tile Editor, still shows in the map. (see third screen shot). I was expecting only to see the labels. The layer referenced in the tile layer is World_Basemap_v2. I have tried making a copy of the layer, as well as sharing as a layer file, and adding them into the Pro project, but the display results are the same (seen in the third screen shot). I don't understand what is going on, or what I need to do. I simply want a layer of labels I can place in the Table of Contents that won't be partially hidden by other map features. Perhaps there is another way to accomplish this and I have my blinders on? Any help would be appreciated. Reference basemap (Streets with relief) labeling partially blocked. Vector Tile Style Editor result, showing only the labels I am interested in. After adding the new "labels only" tile layer. Park and FEMA polygons, and anything below this layer in the TofC, is completely hidden by the tile layer.

Thank you for your great help! As I kept peeling away the various settings, I managed to get a legend layout that I am happy with. Now I wait for feedback from our Planning group......sigh....I will definitely review the strategies link you provided. I have been all over the world wide web looking for any good in-depth, help documentation on formatting legends in Pro, including online help outside of Esri's documentation. Happy New Year!

Bingo! That seemed to work. I still have some formatting to do. I don't like it when the patches are split over two columns, but at least the patches are the same size now. Progress!

Hello. Below is the link. Thanks for the word wrapping hint. I was not using that correctly. I unclicked the Labels box, and the word wrap on the FEMA labeling went away, but now the outdoor resource inventory has "moved" in the legend. Thank you for your great help. https://enterprise.firstmap.delaware.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Environmental/DE_Protected_Natural_Resources/MapServer

Hello. 1) I am trying to adjust the patch sizing in a layout legend in ArcGIS Pro. While I can for some of the Legend items, I cannot for one. I have a mix of feature classes and published map services. In the screen shot, I can modify the patches for the Surface Water features (which is sourced from a map service). I can also modify the patch sizes for the FEMA data, a feature class in our enterprise GDB. I cannot modify the patch sizes for the outdoor resource data. I have tried all that I can think of to adjust the patch width and height. When I increase or decrease the numbers, the legend box "blinks" with each click, but the patches stay the same size. 2) Also, I would like to prevent the "word wrap" in the FEMA legend item. The only that I could find that would work, was to decrease the font size, which then be at odds with the rest of the legend text. Many thanks in advance, Jay

Good afternoon. I am working with the latest version of Survey123 Connect and publishing to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1. I have created a new survey project from an existing survey, and then modified the XLSForm. I have noticed that I cannot choose 'type' in the cells in column A of the XLSForm. When I highlight a cell, I receive the message in the screen shot below and no drop-down list appears. If I enter the type manually in a cell in column A, this seems to work, but it is not the desired behavior. If I add a row, and highlight a cell (e.g., cell A4 in column A) there is no option to choose a type from the list. I cannot figure out how to resolve the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jay

I may have figured out the issue. In the bind::esri:fieldType column, two fields were set to integer when they are really decimal values. I changed the bind choice to Double and this worked. Strange as in earlier versions of the survey, these fields were set as integer and the responses successfully submitted.

Hello! I am using Survey123 Connect version 3.13.251 and ArcGIS for Enterprise 10.9.1. My Android mobile app version of Survey123 is 3.13.244. While waiting for a bug to be resolved in publishing a survey to Enterprise using IWA, I created a new survey using Connect from an existing survey (on AGOL), and then edited the XLSForm to fit what as needed for the new survey. I published the new survey to AGOL. All seemed to work as expected when submitting survey responses from the mobile app. Earlier this week an updated version of Connect was released which resolved the bug issue. I repeated creating a new survey from another survey (on Enterprise), and edited the new survey XLSForm to fit what was needed. When trying to submit a survey response on my Android phone, I get the following error. I tried a variety of iterations in the 'type' column with no success. For example, I have retyped the 'type' for those rows where values are to be integers (for some reason, I cannot click open the drop down list to make a choice). I have been looking at this error for too long. Any ideas? Thanks, Jay
