Instead of populating the value table i've attempted to set a filter on a column of the VT. This also results in the same issue. The VT is missing when the script tool is run from Tasks. Something is off related to the initalizeParameters in Validation.

Thanks for posting this. ESRI should consider adding this to their help documentation. Without having preset filters created you can't set them via arcpy. def initializeParameters(self):
self.params[0].filters[0].list = ['test']
# error returned: AttributeError: ParameterObject: Get attribute: filters does not exist Help doc states the following, which isn't true from arcpy. If you add a list to a ValueTable that doesn't have a filter predefined you get errors. By adding values to an empty filter, you activate the filter, and the user's choices are limited by the contents of the filter. (link)

You are welcome. Logically speaking, as the Tasks framework is currently configured, it would be counter intuitive to have a hidden step that could also be skippable. The Tasks framework would need some sort of triggering logic, making the hidden step visible so a user could choose to skip it. You might consider submitting an Idea. There is lots of room for improvement in Tasks.

You'll likely need to write some logic into your Step 1 script. You could do the Select by Attributes in the ToolValidation step and instruct them to skip Step 2 if appropriate. In this case an additional parameter that would hold a message sent to your users would be needed.

It would be awesome if Tasks provided more flow control. It is common that a unit of work requires some logical branching. Quite frequently I find myself wishing Tasks looked more like Microsoft's Power Automate Flow functionality. One way to make this more accessible and flexible would be to expose a Tasks class in arcpy. It would provide at least basic information about what step is being run.

I thought that maybe removing the for loop might help. This was substituted using the loadFromString function. It had the same result: the task only displays one of the values. valueTable.loadFromString(';'.join([f"'{i}' 'None'" for i in parcels]))

I have a Geoprocessing Script Tool that auto-populates parameters via the initalizeParameters function of the ToolValidator class. This works well when the Tool is run from the toolbox. Code: def initializeParameters(self):
# Customize parameter properties.
# This gets called when the tool is opened.
parcels = ['test1','test2']
valueTable = arcpy.ValueTable(len(parcels))
valueTable.setColumns(["GPString","GPDouble"])
for parcel in parcels:
valueTable.addRow([parcel, None])
self.params[0].value = valueTable Tool Display when open from Toolbox: This does not run as expected when using Tasks. Task Display: Only the first item in the parcels list is loaded. There are no errors reported. Does anyone have any suggestions or workarounds? I am using Pro 3.1.0. Thanks

When running a Geoprocessing Script Tool that modifies data (eGDB, fGDB) within a map, changes are not shown in the map without workarounds. This issue persists at Pro 3.1.0. Please expose a method in arcpy that allows for a MapView to be refreshed. @JoshuaBixby, @GlenColgate1, @NSCHLAGE, @ArapahoeAdmin,

Might be a solution in an upcoming version. ArcGIS Monitor 2023.3 will introduce a new "disconnected" or "unreachable" status. This will be tracked in a new metric in which alert rules can be configured on. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-monitor-questions/generate-an-alert-when-accessing-a-stopped-service/m-p/1311472/highlight/true#M1152
