If I close the arcmap, both locks go away. If I reopen the mxd, both locks reappear, so yes for some reason the script is keeping some reference to the datasource in the original mxd even though all the layers now reference the new datasource. It is something in the script, because if I use the built-in set datasource tool to change the source and save a copy from the same original mxd, the problem with the locks in both File GDB's isn't there when I reopen the resulting mxd. I'm working on it right now, and may have just found the fix, need to test one more time. The mxd.findAndReplaceWorkspacePaths call uses true for the default validate input. I just ran it adding False and it appears to have solved the issue, but going to repeat that one more time.

Thanks for the input, I do use the del mxd at the end of the script. The lock I'm referring to appears in both the original and new datasource ( both File GDB's) whenever you re-open the new mxd created by the saveACopy or same thing happens if I use just save().

I have successfully changed the data sources for the map documents (.mxd) files, but find that when I open the mxd it puts a lock on both the old and new file GDB. I can't find anything in the updated mxd that references the old file GDB but there must be something left. import arcpy CurFldr = r'\\Gis Server Data\Replicas\test' + '\\' OldGDB = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) NewGDB = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1) mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(r'\\Gis Server Data\Replicas\test\test.mxd') mxd.findAndReplaceWorkspacePaths(CurFldr + OldGDB, CurFldr + NewGDB) mxd.saveACopy(r'\\Gis Server Data\Replicas\test\Copy_of_test.mxd') del mxd I have also tried mxd.replaceWorkspaces & mxd.save() Using the buildt-in set datasource tool seems to work fine on the same mxd files. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes, it seems odd that there is access to every other property but the default GDB through arcpy.mapping. You dan read and set any other property but this one it seems. MapDocument—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

We never got it working on our server due to issues with permissions and the Adopta widget, but I have spoken with people who got it working on versions even prior to 10.4. Do a search on the internet and find some REST endpoints for it. You will see people having it running on different versions of the software.

Hi Chris Still working with ESRI support: I got a minute with the IT guy, ArcREST was installed on the server the arcgis account didn’t have permission to the installation folders but changed that and no difference in the errors. I restarted the server through the admin just in case, but nothing changed. One thing I noticed is that on the server machine python installed at C:\python27\, while the server installation directory is at A:\Arc GIS Server\. Python was installed during the original installation. Could this be a factor? Is there a way to rename the folder to A:\arcgisserver\ removing the spaces without reinstalling? Also, I talked with another person who had some issues getting the app to run and got the same error. He said he had to get a firewall port opened up for the app server to access the database? In short, here is where we are: AuthGP service, writing to UserTable in a file GDB: "results": [{ "paramName": "Result", "dataType": "GPString", "value": { "status": "Failed", "description": "Failure in sending email. Chris I opened a support case and have been working with Andy on some issues, one of the things we’ve done is install the latestest adopta app and working on publishing the AuthGP with the latest version. The errors we have seem to be with accessing the table in an enterprise database, the same database the feature service was published from and is registered with the server. See the attached image. Basically, the same error I was having last year but then haven’t tried the new AuthGP yet. I did notice something in the instructions for getting started with adopta that says: Note: If you published the service with ArcGIS for Server or ArcGIS Enterprise, you'll have to add<http://links.esri.com/ArcGISOnline/Additemsfromtheweb/> the service to your ArcGIS organization before completing the remaining steps. : I don’t quite understand why I would have to add an item to portal that is already shared with portal and appears in my content?

I was never able to recover the points from the FGDB. It was too long since the project was last worked on so normal backups weren't available anymore for a time prior to the corruption. I did have a copy of the FGDB, which included all but the last 300 points so didn't lose everything.

I noticed that in the book, GIS and Land Records: The ArcGIS Parcel Data Model, the author shows block in the domain. Yet in the current LGIM geodatabase and in the data dictionary the domain doesn't include 'block' as a type.

I believe that idea might yield a solution, thinking it is possible you need to have all four fields on a feature layer with editor tracking enabled. We only use three of those fields on most of our feature classes, so I published this hosted layer with editor tracking enabled but no creator field. Update, I was able to try the idea today. Added a creator field along with the other editor tracking fields that already existed and then re-published the hosted service and it is now working as expected. I can now use the service to send live updates while connected or download with collector and sync later. Thanks to Jonathon for reminding me to look at the dev tools output!

I looks as though some the publishing errors and sometimes working issues were permissions for the ArcGIS serer account on some of the installation directories. Not sure why the installation would grant needed permissions on folders it creates, but guess it didn't.

ArcGIS 10.4, server, portal, and datastore are running. I published a hosted feature layer from features in an enterprise SQL DB using arcmap. I have everything checked for editing (create, delete, update, query, sync, extract). I can download to my device and create a point in collector with the Trimble R1 or by clicking the screen then sync back and the point appears in the web map on portal. I can't open the webmap in portal and create a point. I can't create a point in Collector if I don't download to the device first. Once I've created a point and synced from the ondevice version, I can then edit that point in the webmap. Actually, i've tried disabling sync on the feature layer and unchecking offline mode in the webmap, but still can't actually create a feature in the webmap either through Collector or in Portal. I'm logged in as an admin and owner of the map and layer. I believe I was able to edit the live webmap in Collector before I had ever downloaded to my device, but not sure if I did that with the hosted feature layer or one from the enterprise DB. Appreciate any ideas/help.
