Hi James, No problem, I have added the idea under https://community.esri.com/ideas/16060 . May I ask everyone in this thread to promote the idea if they think it would be beneficial for their workflow? Many thanks!

Hi Ismael, Is there an idea for the functionality on ArcGIS Ideas we could use to promote the priority of this in your backlog? (I did a cursory search but couldn't find anything.) I know quite a lot of people in and outside of my organisation who would love to get this implemented sooner than later. Thanks, Zoltan

Unique field names were always a case when creating new tables/feature classes even in ArcMap. Joins are created with SQL statements and such, the resulting schema is always referred to with fully qualified field names - eg. sourcename.fieldname. Therefore it shouldn't matter if I have the same field name(s) in the table to be joined. ArcMap is perfectly capable of dealing with this, and if the result is exported the field names are automatically suffixed as '_1', '_2' etc. to ensure the unique field naming. I'd expect the same behaviour in Pro...

Ryan, It means that one or more of the fields in the joined table have the same name as a field/fields in the layer you are joining to. I was very surprised to come across this in Pro since ArcMap has no problem with joining them, regardless having the same field names. Might be worth raising it with Esri's Tech support as a bug/enhancement (after you've checked that the same join works fine in ArcMap.) I hope this helps, Zoltan

Michael, Thanks for tip. The PDF items were only shared with a group, but it's good to know if they are shared publicly then the token will be long-lived. Zoltan

Thanks for correcting me Doug! I thought you could only have related tables in Collector, but it's good to know that you can have geometry as well.

Collector can't handle related geometries you could set up in Pro or ArcMap, it can only handle related tables. A workaround could be some post-processing after the survey is done, so you can connect/join the points to the correct polygon (and/or transfer the required properties). I hope this helps.

I have an issue I could work around but was wondering if there is any way to get AGOL to generate long-lived tokens (like the namesake in AG Server) for items like PDFs, Word Docs etc. I issue I have is that I have some PDF files with engineering plans (uploaded and stored in AGOL) I need to add as links to a Story Map. When I click on a PDF item in My content and then open the file, I can see that a token is generated to allow access and display of the content. The problem is that this token is short-lived and only works for a limited time (maybe a week?), so it stops working when the token expires. The "workaround" I can think of is to use the link to the PDF item in the Story Map, and then have the user to click manually on the download button if they want to see the content. This works fine, but it is clunky and breaks the user experience which is the whole point of Story Maps isn't it? Is there a way to get long-lived tokens generated in AGOL so we can link and open PDF (and other document) items with a direct link containing the token? I couldn't find any option in the REST API/admin part of AGOL in a quick search, but I'm hoping an expert from Esri could help me out with this. Thanks in advance! Zoltan

If you only view maps (even offline) and don't edit, you could use Explorer for ArcGIS. It has (among others) a legend functionality you are missing. I hope this helps.

I don't think this is possible to achieve in Collector. It does not support field calculations or other field dependencies the above scenario implies. On the other hand, you could do all this just fine in Survey123, as it supports field calculations, hide/show questions based on other question(s). Bear in mind that Survey123 can only collect points for now. I hope this helps.

I don't think that tool maintains attachments at all. I had a similar experience in Pro (2.0), where the size of the FGDB did not grow until all the data was copied from AGOL. There must be a temporary place (but couldn't find it) where it stores the data until it's being flushed into the GDB at the end.

Maintaining attachments as an environment setting was only introduced in ArcGIS Desktop 10.5 and Pro 1.3. Only a few tools support it, have a look at the links below. Maintain Attachments (Environment setting)—Help | ArcGIS Desktop Maintain Attachments (Environment setting)—Geoprocessing | ArcGIS Desktop I hope this helps.

No problem. Not sure what the issue is, I had no problems with using tile packages created by Kreator in Collector... I hope it will be sorted soon. 🙂
