Hi William, thank you for the link to the discussion Accessing Existing SDE and AGS Connection Files in ArcGIS Pro, shame on me for not finding that on my own. That pretty much answers my question and defines the workflow for adding multiple SDE or Database connections to an ArcGIS Pro project. The steps are a below and are a combination of what Jake suggested and William pointed out. Add a Folder Connection This folder should contain all of your previously created SDE/Database Connections The connections in this folder will not be immediately accessible to the project Select a Database Connection from this folder - right click - Add To Project The Database selected is added under your Databases Folder The Database and it's contents are now accessible

Thanks Jake, we'll figure this one out somehow, Esri must have considered this when they built ArcGIS Pro. I'll be sure to post the results to this thread,

Hey Jake, that was a good idea and in fact I thought it would work but the ArcGIS Pro application doesn't allow me to open the databases in the new folder I created. You can physically view the connections and they appear as a database but you can't open the database (see screen shot below). Not 100% sure on this one but it seems like the only way to access an enterprise database is when the connection file is in the "Databases" folder and not a normal folder connection. Any ideas? Thanks again for you help.

I'm a novice ArcGIS Pro user so forgive me for such a simple question but is there a way to put all of your Database Connection files in one location which is recognized by all Projects you open? Currently it appears that each Project has a list of Database Connection files saved under your My Documents\ArcGIS\Projects\MyProject1 folder. Is there a way to direct ArcGIS Pro to look in another folder which contains your complete set of Database Connection files (.sde). We have a ton of SDE connection files that need to be recreated in ArcGIS Pro and it would be nice to create them once and share them to all projects and users. Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure why but the video plays for me in Chrome. Try this link instead, it's the same video only on a different site. This is the App Studio presentation from the 2015 Dev Summit. I'm pretty sure App Studio is still in beta, so you may experience bugs but on the bright side you are in on the ground floor of something good. Here's the link for the Esri App Studio Install.

Hey Justin, if you can solve the audio concern than I think Collector or better yet Esri App Studio would be a great mobile tour map. At the last conference I attended (PUG) Esri built a tour map through App Studio and deployed just that map as it's own app to Android and iOS devices, check it out here - Houston Map Tour. Finally, I think Esri has great products but if you want to go outside for a custom mobile app (while still consuming your Esri map/feature services) the guys at Neotreks are great, they specialize in Tour Apps but do a number of things. I've met and worked with them in person, they are a pleasure to work with. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi Justin, following up on the below question. I think Collector addresses all of your needs except the audio component (GeoNet community, please correct me if I am wrong). Sounds like you want a mobile mapping app that will suggest links based on a user location and play audio related to that location, like historical locations, monuments etc. kind of a tour app? However, is Collector a suitable, user-friendly, eye-friendly, application that allows the customer to view photos, hear audio, and read information much like the they can with a story map in AGOL for example?

Can you share the feature so we can help further? Perhaps zip it, load the zipped file separately, and share it to the public.

Morning Mike, I agree with Jake that you should create a new discussion in the ArcGIS Server space for this new issue. If you write a descriptive title, provide details in the text, and tag it correctly you should get all the help you need from the community. I also agree that ArcGIS Server is your best route based on the use of a Geocortex Viewer, in this case you will probably not need AGOL in the picture at all. As for you ArcGIS Server issue, I can't really say what the problem is but someone else who has more expertise will know if you post a new thread. Good luck, I'll stay in touch and help out if I can.

If it's just viewing then either platform will work. In the future, with editing, both platforms work but if you push your data to AGOL (hosted by Esri) there are not currently out of the box tools to synchronize those edits back to your SDE. So if you go with AGOL think of your data as residing up there, the good thing about AGOL is Esri will host your data, manage security, provide additional content, and everything works together very easily from web maps to mobile apps. On a side note, I don't know what kind of service Geocortex provides but you may want to ask them for their recommended architecture, it looks like they are a consultant(?) and will probably program their own web maps independent of AGOL. Hope this is helpful and good luck with project, please continue to bring your questions to GeoNet, it's a great community .

Mike, Likewise I agree with Jake's comments below, he's a very good source and has helped me on many of my questions in the past. It sounds like you need to decide whether you want your data to reside on AGOL (hosted by Esri) or continue to remain in your SDE and served out to AGOL through your local ArcGIS Server. There are lots of pros and cons to discuss between the two workflows and the discussion changes depending upon your version of ArcGIS, third party software, and your desired end use. One question I have about the end use is will you be publishing your data to the web just for viewing purposes or do you intend to edit?

Hi Mike, are you still having an issue, if so, can you clarify your workflow, and software versions. The way I am reading this it appears you want to publish a feature service on your locally hosted ArcGIS Server, then perhaps you want to add that feature service to ArcGIS Online (AGOL)? Or do you want to publish directly to AGOL or not even use AGOL? Also, you can disregard the message about publishing at full extent, it's only a warning and not an error that will keep you from publishing a service. Doesn't mean you shouldn't fix it but it's not your real issue. Please let us know a little more about your workflow and issue and I'm sure the community will be able to help. Thanks

Jessica, when you upload a GDB in that manner AGOL will not be able to view it in a web map. That method is good for storing and sharing a GDB with others but not viewing its contents within an AGOL webmap. Jake and Tim's suggestion of sharing the content through ArcMap as a service is the correct workflow to get the content to AGOL so that you can view and edit in a web map. In short, if you open the GDB in ArcMap, sign in to AGOL (File - Sign In), then share the service (File - Share As - Service) the contents of your ArcMap document (GDB) will be published to AGOL.

Asrujit, I downloaded the Instant Client Basic V 12.1.0.2.0. Would this be the correct client? I just read in the ArcGIS Pro help that you can download the Oracle Instant Client from My Esri but I was unable to find it on an Esri site so defaulted to the Oracle site. Thank you for your help.
