Another vote. I just sold my firm on publishing vector tiles for basemaps that will be used across our ArcGIS Pro project figures, and found out they can't be added to our legends. Don't I look smart. Back to Map Image services for now...

What command/workflow are you using to import the imagery? Is your imagery hosted in the cloud or downloaded, either locally to the machine or on a file sharing network?

Boosting this idea! I will be managing logs for multiple pilots and drones at our company, some of which will not be using SiteScan. I will need a way to export all the flight logs into a common database for record keeping. I could also see the reverse working in my scenario: I am purchasing the full single-user SiteScan license, and would accept being able to import flight logs from other drone software, such as DJI's. But this sounds like it would not work for the OP.

@GregoryEnglishAAAE : Have you submitted an official Idea post for your second comment? I can see how using another validated elevation service would be a huge advancement!

Hi Andrew - I'm subscribing to your post as we plan to do the same thing once we are up and flying with SiteScan. I'm not a CAD expert, but I know we have struggled in the past with providing imagery from GIS to Autodesk Civil3D. How are you importing the imagery? And in what format? I know that our engineers prefer to use the MAPIINSERT command when they are provided a TIFF with a georeferenced world file.

This is a big bummer, especially now that the Mavic 3E has a mechanical shutter and can have RTK added. Even more of a bummer is that DJI is no longer making the Phantom 4. Hopefully ESRI is working with DJI for support of an as-yet-unreleased drone with a built-in mechanical shutter.

Update: I found that the grouping field I was using had a coded value domain, even though it was showing the descriptions. The coded values where also text, but they started with numbers, which I believe is a no-no for Windows folder names. I calculated decoded string values to a new field and used that field for grouping, and the tool ran successfully.

This tool MIGHT be awesome, if I can figure out this error: Start Time: Thursday, August 18, 2022 4:21:26 PM ['Asset_Inventory__ATTACH', ['{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '001 South Cordelia Zone 1 Pump Station'], ['{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '001 South Cordelia Zone 1 Pump Station'], ['{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '{83455E31-D2A8-49FC-80B3-B0398D23545D}', '001 South Cordelia Zone 1 Pump Station']] Traceback (most recent call last):

This field is completely populated (no null values), and is able to be used for a few records, but the tool seems to fail when the "grouping value is not defined". Could this be because of unsupported characters like '#' or '()' not getting passed by the compiler? This tool is almost there - the Grouping method is (or will be) exactly what I need. Thanks for developing this!

It looks like this may have been implemented under a different Idea: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-dashboards-ideas/allow-category-selector-to-zoom-to-selection/idc-p/1106169#M1558 In the June 2022 release of ArcGIS Dashboards, elements with categories based on grouped values (such as a category selector) can now target maps with pan, zoom, and flash actions.

My users are reporting the same issue, and I have confirmed the issue in multiple MXDs. We are on 10.7.1 using Windows 10 Enterprise, both physical and virtual machines. I have created a custom basemap group in Enterprise for our users that re-shares a curated group of ArcGIS Online raster basemaps that are still compatible with ArcMap (the default basemap list from ArcGIS Online now includes vector basemaps that are not compatible with ArcMap). We get the same inability to render layers when zoomed beyond 1:1000 when adding basemaps from ArcGIS Online or logged in through out Portal. I created a GIS Server connection to services.arcgisonline.com, as Nicholas shows, and added the World Street Map from the Catalog pane, and can confirm that this does NOT cause the issue. To answer his question, yes, the basemap and the GIS Service are the same rest endpoint. BUT... one is being added to a Basemap group in the TOC, which Arc processes differently than other layers. I created a new basemap group in the TOC, and moved the working GIS Service added from Catalog - the behavior returned. When I moved the service out of the basemap group, everything rendered properly again. I tried the inverse - adding a basemap form the drop down and then moving it out of the basemap group. This also fixed the problem. Lastly, I tried turning off hardware acceleration, as Tony mentions. At first, this caused Arc to act buggy - when I tried to add a basemap, the window would pop-up quickly and then automatically close. I restarted Arc and was able to add a basemap with hardware acceleration turned off. I got this pop-up: The map works with a Basemap group and hardware acceleration turned off, but it is very slow. I think removing the basemap service from the basemap group in the TOC is a better fix. Something about the interaction of hardware acceleration specifically for the basemap group when using a map service must be causing this unintended issue. I am planning on submitting it to Support as a BUG.

After further testing, the search widget seems to work when you type in more than 3 characters. Try the same search with less than 3 characters. For example: "89". I've been working with ESRI Support on this, and they have determined it is a bug. After further discussion and testing, we have agreed to report a bug regarding this issue. The bug details as follows: Bug Number: BUG-000149391 Synopsis: Map Viewer search tool no longer returns suggestions if the entered keywords are less than 3 letters Status: In Review

Me and my users are no longer seeing search suggestions in the Search tool in either ArcGIS Map Viewer and Map Viewer Classic, or the new Dashboard that was created using a web map created in the new Map Viewer. This worked just a few months ago (before the March Update that moved the Search widget to the 'wrench' icon) - you could enter a keyword in the search bar, and a drop down with suggestions would be populated that you could pick from. Now, there are no suggestions, and hitting 'enter' just brings you to the first record found in the search, with no option to select other records that match the keyword. I have tried this in Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I have configured the search parameters for the web map, but I don't see any way to customize the suggestions. I am only finding articles on how to configure the suggestions for Web App Builder. Are search-suggestions a function that we have lost unless I update my apps to Web App Builder?

This use of the feature class name followed by the subtype number in the Table Name field of the DynamicValue table is an excellent find! I've seen other, less than ideal solutions from ESRI support on how to use different subtypes sequences, but this is the most elegant and easy to implement by far. I just wish it was easier to find in the Attribute Assistant documentation.

For anyone else that ends up here (a decade later!), see this workaround that doesn't involve creating a Python Toolbox: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000011780 Basically, export the script first, then edit it, then import it again. You can test the script iteratively using the "edit" function in ArcCatalog, but the script changes are saved to a temp file, and don't persist after closing the session. Copy your tested code out of the edit session once you are done developing. Then 'export' the script and add a version number to the name. Open this exported script, replace the code with what you had developed and copied out earlier, save (make sure to keep the same file name you set during the export script step) then use the "import script" function, which is available on the tool again. Note the "import script" doesn't give you the option to select a script from the file menu after you have used "Export Script"; it will automatically import the script of the same name with no dialog or parameters.
