Thanks so much for the info Joe. That is really what I was hoping 'Public' meant in this authentication context, but I have been unable to find anything in the documents that indicates this. Have you ever come across this in the docs anywhere?

The Portal for ArcGIS documentation states: Everyone—Sharing with everyone makes your item public; anybody who has access to the portal website can find and use it, and group owners can include it in their group content. If your Portal uses SAML Authentication and has Anonymous Access toggled OFF what is the risk of setting content to Public? The reason for the question is that many other GIS applications (QGIS, Global Mapper, etc) cannot access secured services content at this time, so I'm trying to get a better understanding of what 'Everyone' means and what the risks are. Does this mean that web crawlers, bots, etc could find the content and it could end up being shown in ESRI's ArcGIS Online? Does it mean someone that someone would need to 'stumble across' the correct URL to get at the content? Any suggestions/comments/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Warren

I'm just getting started with creating a time-aware mosaic dataset, and this is a very powerful feature! I have generated a mosaic of satellite images that span many years. The image intervals are not consistent, and some years there might be a monthly image for a few months in a row, and then there might not be any images for the next 6 months, etc. I know this isn't how 'time' works but I'm trying to preempt the question I know users are going to ask... Can the multidimensional image be configured with the intervals/steps such that each advance on the time bar goes to the next available image instead of displaying no image? The only way I can think of accomplishing this is possibly creating another date field for end date and calculate the differences between each successive image, and use that as the end date. Any other suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I just stumbled across this Cloud Storage Connection today, so thanks for the clarification Kory. Sooooooo, is it on the roadmap for this feature to support all of ESRI's file based datasources? That could be a game-changer for many organizations I would think... Warren

Thanks for the response Biraja, but I'm not understanding what you are trying to say. In the original post I indicated the 3 items identified in the proxy: web app, web map, and the server folder that contains content. As I said above, when I test these URLs the proxy returns the content successfully. At least I believe the test returning this page means it was successful? In the developer tools, the network monitor returns the following: Request URL: https://<MYSERVER>/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/0c2312f02db14270b1211bc4aa1a7b67/data?f=json 200 Status Code Response:{"error":{"code":403,"messageCode":"GWM_0003","message":"You do not have permissions to access this resource or perform this operation.","details":[]}} Thanks.

Hello, I'm configuring a new instance of ArcGIS Enterprise on Azure where the ArcGIS Server and Portal are on different web adaptors, and the portal is configured for Active Directory (AD) authentication. I have also manually created a non AD user (User1) in Portal and it is this user that I'm attempting to login as through the proxy. So far I have: installed the DotNet proxy files and created the Application in IIS setup the the serverURL details in the proxy.config file to use User1 for the proxy the following proxy URLs test successfully: https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/<some webmap item> https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/<some web app item> https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/arcgis/rest/services/<some folder name> With these URLs testing successfully, I'm assuming the proxy is working, but if I try to hit the web app it continues to bring up the login page Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there additional settings/config to get this working on an Enterprise 10.6x instance with Portal and Active Directory authentication? I have the proxy working on a 10.3 instance with no Portal and simple ArcGIS Server User Store, but on this new server instance it continues to prompt with the login page. I have so far: - installed the DotNet proxy files - created the Application in IIS - setup the serverUrl details in the proxy.config file using one of the ArcGIS user credentials (not an AD user) - the proxy URLs test successfully: https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/<some itemID 1> https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/portal/sharing/rest/content/items/<some itemID 2> https://<my-server>/DotNet/proxy.ashx?https://my-server/arcgis/rest/services/<Folder Name> So the proxy seems to be working, but it still fires the login page when hitting the web app? Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Kory, it does work if I try it in another project... I was thinking it should have been that easy, but the grab handles kept disappearing whenever the cursor left the Yellow anchor dot in the original project. Thanks again.

Can someone please explain how to use the Scale function in the Image Georeference panel in ArcGIS Pro? When I select scale, the image goes transparent a bit and a yellow dot appears at the center of the image: If you hover the mouse over this yellow dot you can see what appear to be 'grips' at the corners and mid-edge point on the image, but as soon as you move off the yellow dot these disappear: I've tried clicking the yellow dot and dragging, but this just causes the image to again disappear off screen? What am I missing?!?

Thanks for the explanation Xander. The Raster Functions are working now so I'm thinking the SA license wasn't available when I was attempting this yesterday. SO to clarify then, our corporate AGOL organizational account is not a 'portal' in the context of these tools?

Well, I guess I'm just not understanding 'the platform' then... Yes, Hillshade from SA or 3DA work fine, but I'm looking for the equivalent of the Image Analysis window in ArcMap and thought these tools were that, but obviously not. I just don't understand how I could use these surface tools in ArcMap but now not in in Pro? This has to be a licensing/configuration issue? And here I thought I might be getting close to making the move to Pro... W.

This is driving me crazy... I am trying to perform a simple shaded relief on a surface, but the Analysis > Raster Analysis keeps graying out indicating: You must be connected to a portal with raster analysis tools. If I try to run it as a Raster Function, it reports: Failed to apply Shaded Relief I am running Pro as a concurrent license, not a named user. I have Spatial Analyst authorized and enabled. I am connected to our corporate AGOL account: https://<companname>.maps.arcgis.com/ What am I missing?!?!

Robert, Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been avoiding the proxy configuration as I figured I didn't require it and I really didn't fully understand it. After some reading, digging, and more reading I now have a working sample setup and a better understanding. I do have some further questions about accessing different secured content on AGOL with different AGOL users. In the proxy.config I have the serverUrl pointing to our company AGOL root domain: https://mycompany.maps.arcgis.com. Can the proxy serverUrl be configured to point to specific content/itemIds on AGOL? IOW, is there a way to configure the proxy to point to Content-A with User-A, and Content-B with User-B Or is my thinking flawed in this methodology? Thanks again for your insight!

I have done something very similar, but have some additional questions... My current setup: ASP.NET MVC app functioning with ASP.NET Authentication and works great. Webmap and Web AppBuilder app designed on ArcGIS Online. Downloaded the WAB app from AGOL and deployed on our own server. All my downloaded WAB apps are in a common location, and a virtual folder is added to the MVC app to point to the WAB app location The webmap on AGOL is not currently secured When we go live, I want to secure the the webmap on AGOL, but then this will cause the AGOL OAuth dialog to prompt the user to enter AGOL creds. How can we avoid prompting the users again to enter an AGOL cred. Any suggestions on a design pattern that would work here, would be greatly appreciated. Warren M
