To get the latest you would add a SQL query. Yes you can - the box for required has a drop down with yes but you can put any formula in there that evaluates to a true/false as well. You will get the green mark of an error but it works. You can also use relevant and just hide the field completely.

We keep getting this error " Failed to obtain item from data store for given id: ()" on all our services. We have tried every kind of way to publish we can think of. No errors on the publish. Tried from sde connections (OSA and default version), added to database section, you name it. Its all our services. Even very simple ones for testing. Happens on our dev 11.5 and production 11.3 server. Only posts I find point to number of instances but the server has plenty of room and they all perform well. The dev server I am only one on it and still get it. Tested shared instances and dedicated multiple times. Just a simple map service, no feature. No big layers or queries. There are relationship classes in some but not all. Tried all kinds of data store connections also. They look good and again no errors at all on publish. As you see the id is blank in the error. Been going on for a long time now. What can cause this? It is marked as Severe so we do not want to just ignore it. Thanks a lot

Any update on this? It has been a big issue for us. Users confused that selections are not honored in most ways when giving input. Also it blocking non public layers from input into our own geoprocessing tools is a huge issue for us. And I think its a bug. We have been trying to contact the ExB teams several times on this with no luck. thanks a lot

Thanks a lot @JakeSkinner but some issues still I have questions on. I cannot seem to run any of these reports. It lets me change the drop down but nothing updates. Is this a rights issue? I am not a full admin. I started changing our services to dedicated, 1 and 4 as you said and its much better. But we still are getting this error in the log a lot. Even with only 1 user and 1 out of 4 instances we get it. Failed to obtain item from data store for given id: () Happening on pretty much every service we try. We double checked, republished, etc but it just keeps coming up. Is it a managed data store config issue maybe? We have a lose admin team right now and hard to tell who setup what and if its correct. Portal is 11.3. Posts like https://community.esri.com/t5/publishing-and-managing-services-questions/arcgis-server-log-severe-questions/m-p/1631990#M1409 point to a resources thing but we are only using 1 of 4. Is it resources or some other data store issue? The SDE this all connects to is super fast and no issues there. Thanks a lot we are going a bit nuts here!
